Exactly ten years ago today, on July 28th, 2012, Placebo went on a short 𝐁𝟑 𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐑, almost three months before their same-titled EP would be released in October 2012.
All in all, 18 concerts, including the festival shows, were planned for the tour. The first one took place on July 28th at 𝑳𝒐𝒘 𝑪𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝑭𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒍 in 𝑺𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒏.

Not everything went smoothly during this tour (as at 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝑭𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒍 in Austria on August 16th when the show was stopped after the first song). However, Placebo managed to play several brilliant concerts which would be always remembered by the fans as true highlights of the band’s live history.

“Next, we race back to the main stage in order to catch Placebo who are armed with new material in the form of ‘B3’ alongside the now “classic” body of work that they’ve perfected. Their energy is infectious, and it’s good to see them headlining such a credible festival bill (they’ve done it before, here too). Tonight at Sziget, it is very easy to see just how Placebo have been able to graduate from snotty androgynous punks to an internationally recognised and celebrated rock legends. This is signified in the set as well; the band leave out tracks like ‘Nancy Boy’ in favour of the (arguably) more mature (and polished) ‘Infra-Red’ to close things off. Again, it’s just obvious that this band have grown up and developed, and in our opinion that’s no bad thing.”

By the way, on that day Placebo shared the festival scene with the Belgian band 𝐝𝐄𝐔𝐒 whom 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 called one of his favourite bands and also his personal friends.

“They were THE headliner on Friday. Only a few shows this year in Germany, and one of them at Taubertal. Huge expectations have met the fullest satisfaction. Brian Molko, singer and guitarist and frontman of the band, was fashionably polite during the 90-minute set. In good understandable German he addressed the ladies with “Remember Me” - before Special Needs from the Sleeping With Ghosts album. We will definitely not forget Placebo. The lightshow with five screens above the stage was amazing and perfectly contributed alternative rock by Placebo. As previous albums of the Brits were represented, as so the new album sounded very good.
The release of Battle For The Sun was a great return after a three-year hiatus. The version of Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill was just fantastic as one of four encores.”

“Although it may be difficult to find a link between the Californian rapper (Snoop Dogg) and Placebo, festivals are there to make communication possible just because the fans of both artists have fun in front of the stage together. And Placebo fans had a lot to write home about. An hour and a half of music by the band in absolutely peak form. Brian Molko has lost nothing of his magnetic charisma and kept a perfect feel of the stage. Steve Forrest, the percussionist who joined the band four years ago, clearly managed to find ground under his feet and now feels entirely confident in the company of Placebo founders. The concert opened with Kitty Litter from the still popular Battle for the Sun, the album most extensively represented during the show, but they also had surprises in store, such as, for example, I Know from their debut album or Meds, originally performed with Alison Mosshart. The second part of the concert started with Running Up That Hill from the repertoire of Kate Bush. Interestingly, just an hour earlier, the song played an important role during the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games. Alongside this cover and pieces like Infra-Red and Post Blue, the encores featured the band's only new piece – B3.”

🎉 𝟏𝟎 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒈𝒐 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚, it began in 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒔 ⭐𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐨 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐬-𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐳: '𝐀 𝐑𝐎𝐂𝐊 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬' 🎸⭐, a mini-tour of only 𝒇𝒊𝒗𝒆 concerts through different 𝑬𝒖𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒏 cities that 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 made in collaboration with a famous 𝑮𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏 luxury car brand to launch the new 𝑨-𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔. As you just read, to attend these shows you only had to register on the new car model's website and be very lucky 🍀, as ticket winners were selected at random. Each concert was limited to an audience of around 800 people. The mini-tour started on June 22, 2012 in 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒔 and ended on July 5, 2012 in 𝑴𝒂𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒅.

Some things are enough to do once and 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏's reasons for not doing such collaborations again are very reasonable and respectable. In my opinion, if people enjoyed the shows then it wasn't all that bad, don't you think?

On May 23rd 1996, shortly before the release of their self-titled debut album, Placebo started their 🔸𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗕𝗜𝗚 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥🔸 with a concert at Luna Theatre in Brussels, Belgium. The band played 159 shows in the UK, Europe and North America. The last gig took place at Battersea Power Station in London on December 22nd 1997.

Dear soulmates let's enjoy today the very first and only acoustic session that 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 has performed in 𝑴𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒄𝒐, a private concert that took place at the 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒐 𝑪𝒊𝒓𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒓 𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒚𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒖𝒎 𝑪𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒔 in 𝑴𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒄𝒐 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚 on March 12, 2007 where only a few lucky fans could attend and which was recorded to close the first season of the series "𝑺𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆𝑺 𝒄𝒐𝒏 𝑨𝒍𝒆𝒋𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒐 𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒐", a concert and interview 𝑻𝑽 show created and hosted by 𝑨𝒍𝒆𝒋𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒐 𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒐 that premiered just one month later on April 12, 2007.

📌 𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐔𝐄 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎 📌
The 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒚𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒖𝒎 𝑪𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒔 is a venue located south of 𝑴𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒄𝒐 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚 that, due to its imposing dimensions and high social and humanist content, attempts to call human beings to establish freedom, welfare and justice on earth through art. It was built in 1966 and inaugurated in 1971 and is a true work of art in every way, first for its innovative architectural design, a dodecahedron on the outside and an octagon on the inside, that is, 12 walls on the facade and 8 inside the building; and second because in its installations it is the largest mural in the world entitled 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 by the 𝑴𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 painter 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑨𝒍𝒇𝒂𝒓𝒐 𝑺𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒔, that is why 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒆𝒍 𝑺𝒖𝒂́𝒓𝒆𝒛 𝒚 𝑺𝒖𝒂́𝒓𝒆𝒛 named the venue in honor of him.

The mural has an area of 2,400 meters and covers from side to side and from ceiling to floor of the 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒖𝒎 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒂𝒍 (main hall of the 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒚𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒖𝒎). The work is divided into four zones and is a mixture of pictorial styles ranging from new realism, through expressionism and abstractionism, showing the evolution of humanity from the past to the present, as well as a vision of the future. In addition, part of the interior mural is three-dimensional, which gives an immersive sensation typical of 𝑺𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒔' surrealist and expressionist influences. About his work, 𝑺𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒔 wrote:

The building consists of several spaces: the 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒖𝒎 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒂𝒍, the 𝑬𝒔𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒐 𝒅𝒆 𝑨𝒓𝒕𝒆 𝑬𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆 (𝑬𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑨𝒓𝒕 𝑺𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒆), and the 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒐 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒚𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒖𝒎 inspired by circular theater in the classic 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒌 style with a capacity for 500 people, in which cultural, political and social activities are held. Back to 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐, in March 2007 the band visited 𝑴𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒄𝒐 for the second time with the "𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒔 𝑻𝒐𝒖𝒓", this acoustic concert was the first of five concerts they would offer in that second visit, since after this one they performed in 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒚, 𝑮𝒖𝒂𝒅𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒋𝒂𝒓𝒂 and two nights in a row in 𝑴𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒄𝒐 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚.
Besides the magnificent soulful interpretations, it was wonderful to see the smiling faces of 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐, 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍 and 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒕 throughout the acoustic session. They must have been very happy and grateful for the warm reception from the 𝑴𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 fans who at the end of each song were clapping euphorically and shouting: "𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐, 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐, 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐!
𝑨𝒍𝒆𝒙 𝑳𝒆𝒆 accompanied them on stage playing guitar, keyboards, glockenspiel and doing backing vocals, while 𝑩𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝑳𝒍𝒐𝒚𝒅 participated as audio engineer and in audio post-production.

🔹 There's no need to introduce this band that has defined itself over the years as a giant of the alternative rock scene. To celebrate their 20th anniversary, PLACEBO are offering a world tour that traces their beginnings alongside DAVID BOWIE to their latest album A Place For Us to Dream and the EP Life's What You Make It, two luminous tracks in the uncertain darkness of our future. Brian Molko says: "Let's just say there will be songs we swore we'd never play again. I think it's time we recognised what a lot of our fans want to hear. They've been very patient with us because we don't often play the songs that have been commercially successful. But this 20th anniversary tour feels like the perfect time to do it. That's our intention. This tour will be a tour for the fans, but also an opportunity for us to revisit some of our songs. So if you want to see us play songs like Pure Morning and Nancy Boy that we haven't played in almost ten years and may never play again, then you better come to these shows ! And we promise there will be some surprises too."

🔹 The concert takes place at the Halle Tony Garnier in Lyon, organised by Radical Production in partnership with RTL2, who will probably broadcast the live show in a short while. After opening for LAST TRAIN, PLACEBO starts their performance with their Every You, Every Me promo video shown on 3 huge screens at the back of the stage. A little flashback in images that retraces their adventures from 1997 to the present day. Then the intro of Pure Morning starts, led by Matt Lunn on drums, "The new, the young, the beautiful" says Brian before singing their song Too Many Friends, accompanied by Stefan Olsdal on piano. It is with great emotion that we discover a current song whose words of the chorus resound in this huge room. The instruments change hands, the hands change instruments, the screens broadcast the live show and turn our musicians into giants. We are witnessing a real festival of colours and lights. We take a moment to look behind us, the hall is full, the audience is singing and dancing. The ages merge and unite, and then the band gives such a strong ovation during the last song that they reward us with a first and second encore before leaving us in shock. The concert is well and truly over this time, it's time to go home.

📍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐔𝐄
🔹 Initially conceived as a place of commerce, plans for its construction began in 1907, headed by Tony Garnier, an architect from Lyon. Subjected to the vagaries of historical events, the place became an arms factory during the First World War and a cattle market in 1928. The activity stopped in 1967. Abandoned, La Halle was on the verge of demolition and was saved by being classified as a Historic Monument in 1975. After several years of disuse, La Halle was refurbished to become a cultural venue in 1988, hosting in turn film events (Festival Lumière), charities (Telethon) and classical concerts (Berlioz Festival). It is one of the largest concert halls in France. Placebo gave three concerts there in 2006, 2009 and 2017 respectively.

Thank you, thank you very much ! Yesterday was the supermoon ! Did everybody see the supermoon yesterday ? I was very very excited about this, so I went out onto the streets of Milan looking for the supermoon ! Yes ! Yes, yes, yes, I did. And the supermoon in Milan was much smaller than it was in other places.

But as I was walking around the streets of Milan, I took this picture ! That's the supermoon. And if you look really carefully, I seem to have taken a picture of a UFO as well.

But we're not going to talk about life on other planets tonight. Tonight, we're going to talk about water. We are 80% water. All human beings are 80% water and if the moon and the super moon can have an effect on the ocean, then it can have an effect on us ! Yes.

Did anybody sleep really badly last night ? I did. Anybody have a headache ? Yeah, okay. So did I. Yeah, but the thing about water is that it gives you life and it can kill you too. But we're running out of water. All right. And soon, if we don't take care of our water, we're going to head towards an environmental apocalypse. And an environmental apocalypse means the end of our species, which maybe we deserve because we have been using this planet like a garbage can! But anyway. So when we all die because we don't have any water anymore, I'll see you on the other side. Okay. Whatever the fuck that is, or whatever dimension that is. 🔹 The supermoon is a phenomenon that occurs 4 to 6 times a year, so it is not that rare after all. It occurs every 1 year and 48 days. Two conditions prevail for its appearance, the Moon must be full and the distance between the Earth and the Moon has to be minimal.

🔹 On Monday 14 November 2016, the Moon was only 356,500 kilometers from the Earth. The average distance between the Earth and the Moon is 384,400 km. The Moon appears larger and brighter, but it is almost imperceptible to the naked eye.

🔹 This event is a joy for astronomy enthusiasts because it is an opportunity to take beautiful pictures of the phenomenon, unless you have the necessary equipment of course ! 😊

🎸 Yeah, i mean it's far less precise you know. The nature of the context is much different because the audience isn't necessarily 100 yours you know. So there's an extra challenge in that to keep people's attention but also you know the whole situation is different. So you have to have a different attitude, it's a completely different context.

📻 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 ?
🎸 It's something that's quite fun really you know because you get to hang out with other bands, you get to see people that you haven't seen in a while. Four years ago, we were playing here with Therapy you know, and we're playing here again you know it's kind of funny. So it's more like you know the season of sitting in the grass you know and kind of and just hanging out more and then it's like: "oh right, okay" it's time it's time to go play now.

🎸 Because we worked very very hard on being concentrated and being focused and being very tight. I think people pay good money to come see you you know, and ticket prices keep going up and up you know, so it's like you really have to give them value for money, you really have to deliver you know, otherwise they can walk away feeling ripped off you know. But whatever you do, there's always people who walk away feeling ripped off or you just go on your site the next day and like people just complain and complain and complain you know. Every now and again, you have one or two many drinks before you go on stage and you're a little bit sloppy and then you go on the web the next day, and they go: "Man, he was drunk, man if i saw him i would have kicked his ass man but still they're my favorite bands.". It's like: "Wait a minute". People can be so demanding sometimes you know, we're just human beings.

🎸 Yeah, luckily we don't really suffer from writer's block so when we have the opportunity, we try and write as much as possible on tour. Because if you don't, then you stop being creative for a really long period of time and then you start to feel like a performing monkey, it's important to keep your creative juices flowing and we try and do that. So we've always kind of continually written you know which is a good thing.

🎸 It takes a long time you know to come down off touring you know. It's like if you have two weeks holiday, it just doesn't work you know because it takes you a week or two to come down anyway you know. I think Michael Stipe once told me that after the new adventures in High Five Tour that it took him about four months to come down, you know. So you have a tendency to run around like a chicken with your head cut off or you just hit massive post-tour depression and you just don't know what to do, and you want to throw yourself under a bus you know. Because you feel so useless, because your life isn't organized you know, and you have nothing planned for you the next day you know. You want to call up your tour manager and go like: "Where am I supposed to be ? You know tell me what to do today !". Yeah, it's a weird feeling.

Today we celebrate the ♦️𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗬♦️ of “Live at La Cigale”. It was released on CD 11 years ago today, on March 7th 2011. Placebo played this concert almost exactly five years earlier, on the 6th of March 2006. The setlist consisted of 17 songs, but only eight of them can be found on the album.

📌 𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 📌
La Cigale is a well-known concert venue in Paris, it offers space for about 1.300 people. Originally it was a small theater called “Boule noire”. Somewhen in the 1940ies it was changed into a cinema. In 1981 it became a monument of protection. Since 1987 the hall is regularly used for concerts. Famous artists like Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Prince, Coldplay and of course our favorite band Placebo have performed there over the years.

💊“𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐒” 𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐑💊

The “𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐒” 𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐑 started on February 19th 2006 at 100 Rock Festival in Bangkok, Thailand. It was a short gig consisting of only 13 songs. Altogether 177 shows were played during the tour. The last one took place in France on July 12th 2007.
After a very short break Placebo were part the Project Revolution Tour, a music festival in the USA hosted by Linkin Park (July 25th – September 3rd). It was the last time the band played with drummer Steve Hewitt.

Dear friends, our virtual stop today will be in Bulgaria.
Bulgaria is a beautiful country on the Black Sea coast, full of very warm and friendly people, I like to go there.
Are there Bulgarian fans among you?

Placebo have performed 4 times in Bulgaria so far. The first performance was in 2003, the last in 2017.
I found an interview for you, which Brian gave before the concert in 2007.

🔸 There are a few points that interested me - first, at the beginning, the reporter recalls the first Placebo Bulgarian concert as not very successful. I tried to find some information, but I only found out that this concert took place in a hall with seats and it was quite a big obstacle for the fans, which they probably tried to deal with in their own way.
Anyway, thanks to the reporter's mention, we know that Brian still enjoyed it😁.

🔸 I just want to talk the second point - I realized again how many life experiences the guys have gained throughout their careers so far...
You will notice this with the question about the work on the cover and the final image of their albums.

And in this post, I share with you the only quality video from this show. The song "Infra-Red" opened the setlist and this video is just amazing.

Dressed in black, with perfectly epilated chest, not taking off his sunglasses and with boots on in spite of the heat. We have an appointment with the greatest alternative singer from the Island after Thom Yorke.


Three years ago Placebo played in Bulgaria, disappointed with the venue and charmed by the audience. After he recklessly threw himself into the audience, the singer shared with us that he hadn't been touched by so many people for the last 5 years. This time Placebo were even more emotional, they changed guitars for each song and staked on long codes. An hour before the concert I am sitting with Brian in a stuffy room somewhere along the Winter Palace's corridors. He lights a cig. A nicotine one.

B.M.: Let's say it this way - as an artist I would feel very bad to be more famous for my narco problems than for my music. Anyone can sleep with Kate Moss and take drugs. But I am more tempted to touch people with my art , to write something that can converse with them. What's the point of being the next rock&roll cliche?

B.M.: The last albums of the Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal. As well as Arcade Fire.

On September 17th, 2010, during Battle For The Sun tour, Placebo played at the International Exhibition Center in Kyiv, Ukraine. Right before the concert, Brian did an interview for 𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒏 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄 magazine which I translated for you.

Placebo's managers kept us in suspense for a long time and confirmed the interview with the band's frontman Brian Molko just an hour before the concert. While the audience was warmed up by Marakesh on the stage of International Exhibition Center, we were given 10 minutes to talk to Molko. As it’s difficult to get deep into the topics that interested us in such a short time, we only touched the main points.
Given Placebo's tight schedule, we expected to see a tired zombie but instead, smiling and friendly Brian Molko sat in the chair across. There’s not the slightest hint in his appearance that Placebo have been touring for fifteen months with almost no break. And certainly no prerequisites for the fact that two days later Brian will interrupt the concert in Moscow due to health issues. Today, Molko is laughing and humming something under his breath (it's a pity that photography wasn’t allowed during the interview).

It all depends on who is knocking the door. But I'm definitely not looking for a parallel career in Hollywood.

📢𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧: I have to, I just have to. But, you know, it's very difficult to turn a video into a work of art. The video mostly becomes a marketing tool. It's pretty hard to balance.

📢𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧: Now I love The Black Angels, I love The Black Kids, I love all kinds of psychedelics like Dungen from Sweden or Black Mountain from Canada. All sorts of things inspired by my first love - music of the sixties. Neo-psychedelic. This is very interesting for me now.

📢𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧: All that is still a part of our nature, but when you grow up, your horizons expand. So now we are really consciously focusing on other things.


Placebo manager comes to us. It's time for the band to get ready to go on stage. “Damn, I’d like to talk more!’ Brian says goodbye. “Are you staying for the concert?” Yes, I answer. “Ok, I hope to see you!” We shake hands. In 10 minutes, “Nancy Boy” will sound on the stage followed by other amazing songs. We didn't manage to discuss a lot. Hopefully, we can continue in three years.

🔸For an EU capital, Bucharest is not the most tourist-oriented of cities. Finding Romexpo was quite an adventure and then finding the venue within Romexpo was quite a mini-adventure. The biggest procentege of the crowd waiting at the gates was pretty much what you would call standard Placebo fans: girls ranging from 14 to 18, wearing black and goth make-up, but looking very happy and excited. Of course, by the time access was allowed, a more “square”-looking audience started to show up. There was a bit of a delay, a bit of waiting in the sun, but there always is. …/.../


Placebo took the stage as the sun was setting and, no hello’s, no how are you’s, kicked off with perfect opener Kitty Litter. Setlist-wise, it was a standard non-festival Placebo date, circa summer of 2009. Still, for such a madding crowd, it could have just as well been an acoustic cover session of Barbra Streisand’s hits, the fans were that pleased to see their idols.


Ashtray Heart was next and only after that, Molko greeted the public and announced that they will be playing a few songs from their new album. Battle for the Sun, despite its many lyrics, was well-known by the audience. All tracks were, new or old. At the end of the title track, before Molko moaned acapella “I will battle for the sun”, he took a break and demanded more and more noise from the audience. Some decibels records in human shouting must have been broken that night, because the sound was deafening, almost in a scary way.
Molko’s big smile to his guitar-master, when changing instruments for the next song, prooved that the facts immediately sank in:
Placebo is owning this crowd. Bands always talk about the exchange of energy in concerts. Sunday night, in Bucharest, this phenomenon was as visible as it can be.
All rock’n'roll moves and postures were checked by the frontman, with his Fenders finding themselves between his legs on several occasions. Drummer Steve Forrest “broke” concert rules and catapulted his sticks into the sea of raised hands, after finishing certain songs, not just at the end of the show.

There were also some funny moments. Stefan Olsdal had some difficulties with the beginning of Speak in Tongues, fixed after changing “weapons”.
Molko ironically commented: “Sometimes, guitars play all the wrong notes”.


When presenting the band, he named Olsdal “the queen of Sweden” and Olsdal responded by calling Molko his “drama queen”.
Towards the end of Black Eyed, the frontman signaled the need of cancer-stick to one of his tech-guys🚬.
Of course, a rain of cigarette packs, coming from the public, landed on stage (accompanied at one point by a bra, that is now probably a part of Placebo’s Tour Treasure… Chest😁).
He lighted before Happy You’re Gone saying: “It’s fantastic to be in a country where you can smoke on stage. Where we come from, in the UK, they’re slowly taking away every piece of freedom we have left. So, it’s great to be amongst you filling our lungs together”.
This might NOT make a good anti-smoking add.


After Song to Say Goodbye, Placebo said good night, but it was obvious that this is not the end.
The first encore was Infra-Red and Sleeping with Ghost’s hit, The Bitter End. They closed the night with the classic Taste in Men, sounding more massive than ever. The band left the stage in an impressive roar of admiration from the mesmerized crowd. Steve Forrest left with his own little piece of “treasure”: a pair of pants, thrown on stage by some really desperate-to-be-remembered fan😁.


The night wasn’t over quite yet. A group of fans situated in the left side of the stage spotted Placebo’s backstage lodgings and cheered them out of there for an impromptu autograph session.
This clearly wasn’t any promo duty for them, just a way of saying “thank you” in a more upfront personal way.
Brian Molko was smiling all throughout the signing, but Steve Forrest seemed to be really having the time of his life. He was hugged and kissed and patted on the back and made pictures with anyone asking.
He even graduated magna cum laude from the rock’n'roll stardom baptism of giving an autograph on a lady’s chest. It was the perfect ending of a perfect night (especially for that lady😁).


After such a mind-blowing response, there is no doubt that Placebo will return to Romania. If not in the following two years, they will surely make a stop when promoting their now-unborn future album.🔸
