๐ŸŒ  What more can I say than what I already said about the concert in Luxembourg ?
It was a thousand times more magical ! But I'm not going to compare, because each concert has its own atmosphere.

๐ŸŒ  People arrived rather late to line up. I arrived in the early afternoon. I was allocated number 7 and the wait began. The few fans present were very nice and there was no shortage of Placebo talk, of course ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐ŸŒ  The doors opened, we ran and stood in the centre at the barrier. The perfect place to enjoy a concert ๐ŸŽถ

๐ŸŒ  The opening act, ๐‘ฌ๐’…๐’Š๐’•๐’‰ ๐‘ต๐’š๐’๐’๐’, was pretty good. A former French band from the 80s, they reunited 3 years ago. The rock they played, and updated, was powerful. For their last song they invited a man on stage (I can't remember his name !) who the singer introduced as the '๐‘”๐‘œ๐‘‘๐‘“๐‘Ž๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’๐‘Ÿ ๐‘œ๐‘“ ๐‘ƒ๐‘™๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘’๐‘๐‘œ'. And ๐‘บ๐’•๐’†๐’‡๐’‚๐’ was present at the side of the stage to admire the band. The song was called '๐˜‘๐˜ฐ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฏ๐˜บ ๐˜‘๐˜ฐ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฏ๐˜บ, a tribute song to the singer Johnny Hallyday., a famous rock French singer.

A sweet smell that foreshadows an intense emotional moment ⭐. The set list was the same as for the other concerts. When the first notes of ๐‘ญ๐’๐’“๐’†๐’—๐’†๐’“ ๐‘ช๐’‰๐’†๐’Ž๐’Š๐’„๐’‚๐’๐’”

started, the crowd went wild and so did I. The audience was in total communion and the band was visibly satisfied with the fans' reception who came to appreciate them live. ๐‘บ๐’•๐’†๐’‡๐’‚๐’ greeted the audience warmly. '๐‘ฉ๐’๐’๐’‹๐’๐’–๐’“ ๐‘ต๐’‚๐’๐’„๐’š ! ๐‘ช๐’‚ ๐’—๐’‚ ?'. And meanwhile, ๐‘ฉ๐’“๐’Š๐’‚๐’ smiled in the distance ✨

It was impossible to hold back the tears that were welling up in my eyes. This song has that indescribable touch that transcends you. It strips you bare and you can't help but be swept away by its flood of emotions ๐Ÿ’–. This was followed by ๐‘ฉ๐’Š๐’๐’๐’Š๐’„, which swept away the happy sadness of ๐‘ฏ๐’‚๐’‘๐’‘๐’š ๐‘ฉ๐’Š๐’“๐’•๐’‰๐’…๐’‚๐’š ๐‘ฐ๐’ ๐‘ป๐’‰๐’† ๐‘บ๐’Œ๐’š and gave way to a wave of phenomenal power. The same goes for ๐‘ป๐’˜๐’Š๐’ ๐‘ซ๐’†๐’Ž๐’๐’๐’”. As for ๐‘บ๐’–๐’“๐’“๐’๐’–๐’๐’…๐’†๐’… ๐‘ฉ๐’š ๐‘บ๐’‘๐’Š๐’†๐’”, I spent half the song with my eyes closed, surrendering to the somewhat surreal atmosphere that the song provides live. Why ? I have no idea ! It's just the way I feel about it. This is surely due to their rhythm, which drew me even deeper into the heart of the moment. ๐‘ป๐’‰๐’† ๐’๐’๐’… ๐’”๐’๐’๐’ˆ๐’”... But yesterday in Nancy, it enveloped me in a captivating bubble. The guitar squeezed my heart with a gentle delicacy. I was in the grip of a mesmerizing sublimity ๐Ÿ’—

๐ŸŒ  The band went backstage for the usual break. But before that, ๐‘ฉ๐’“๐’Š๐’‚๐’ gave a child in the audience a guitar pick with that beautiful smile on his face reflecting his joy and gratitude. Again, that smell of incense in the air and again that strange turmoil took hold of me. A sweet turmoil ๐Ÿ’ซ.
The crowd grew impatient in a joyous mood and the band reappeared.

๐ŸŒ  The last three songs of the set went on, still in this crazy atmosphere. The band and the audience were moving in unison.

♦️ Last night the band was simply perfect. From the first song to the last, ๐๐ฅ๐š๐œ๐ž๐›๐จ wanted to reach transcendence, as noted in the message before the concert. At least, I did.

My Placebo concert at the Bataclan, which for 10 years was the one where a special symbiosis with the band was achieved, was swept away with a single stroke last night ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

๐Ÿ”ถ ๐๐‹๐€๐‚๐„๐๐Ž... Sometimes I wonder why I love this band so much. It's by experiencing moments like thursday’s that I finally have part of the answer.

๐Ÿ”ดCONCERT REVIEW BY A FAN๐Ÿ”ด

Dear friends and Placebo lovers,

for all those who have not yet had the pleasure of attending one of Placebo's concerts on this new 2022 tour, we share with you the concert review our soulmate Gaรซlle Fuchs kindly sent to us.
It's about the last Placebo concert on May 27th at Bearded Theory's Spring Gathering festival, Derbyshire, UK.
Enjoy it!

“This gig felt like the first normal Placebo gig after the small ones and the stadium openings.

They seemed in a very good mood, Brian making jokes along the way and Stef playing with the different sides of the crowd to make them scream louder.

They also kept making us clap and sign of a good gig: "It's in the special way we fuck" very loud during Post Blue.

The setlist was a mix of the past 2 setlists with, very sadly, One Of A Kind missing...

I had a lot of fun dancing and singing and loved it, also to note, the return of the beanie! It was pretty cold when they played.

To say "Hi" to the audience Brian used the classic "Look at all the people here tonight" which was fun.

He introduced Kitty Litter by making a joke about it being one of his favourite thing to eat and suddenly out of nowhere between 2 songs said "I can smell weed".

They also paid tribute to Fletch from Depeche Mode, saying they woke up with very sad sudden news this week and that Fletch was a close friend who was a very genuine and kind person. They dedicated "Went Missing" to him.

I tried to be quick at taking 3 pictures during Hugz (probably took me 10 seconds max) but the girl next to me kept filming/taking pictures.

So at some point Brian pointed at her and asked her if she could stop because it was putting him off. Which made me laugh, so I got a "I saw you too" from Brian as punishmentoops.

To be honest, if he had taken Hugz of the setlist (which I really don't like) I probably would not have taken any pics.

Conclusion: better setlist Brian, thanks. Anyway my personal highlights were to have Sad White Reggae back on the setlist and the incredible energy they had and my down points where to have Hugz, Too Many Friends and Try Better Next Time in the set.”

Dear soulmates,
Placebo's new tour has just started. This year we will finally be able to meet again at concerts and enjoy live performances of our favorite band.
I have for you today an excerpt from Brian's interview, which he gave before the gig in Leicester during the UK part of the Loud Like Love tour in 2015, as well as a beautiful review from this show.
๐Ÿ”ธBut at the end of this post, I have one ethical question for you, and I would like you to give us your views on this burning topic that the interview is about.

Brian Molko has a morning of interviews lined up, back-to-back, writes Gemma Peplow. "My favourite part of the job," he says, dryly.
Brian isn't so much prickly as honest. Which is good. You wouldn't want tried-and-tested PR spiel from the frontman of Placebo, would you? Just for good measure, when we ask how the rest of his day might get better:
๐Ÿ”ธ "That's my business, not yours."

Moving on, then. Placebo, one of the alternative rock bands of the '90s, whose bitter, cynical lyrics soundtracked the lives of thousands, are touring the UK. After shifting millions of albums and playing bigger venues across the world, this one is kind of back to basics.
๐Ÿ”ธ "We haven't done a regional UK tour in a long time so it feels like we're very much going back to our roots," says Brian.
"We're playing smaller venues, with a more intimate kind of energy with the audience. We do try to make an emotional connection with the audience. It's not just about playing songs.
We want to create a collective euphoria, a synergy. We need that connection, otherwise it becomes mechanical and soulless for us.
In a smaller venue, that energy comes quicker; the connection is a little easier to make – as long as not too many people are busy looking at their phones instead of the gig."

While Placebo's music has stood the test of time – the band are 20 years and six albums down the line from their self-titled debut – Brian is not convinced by this change in gig crowds.
๐Ÿ”ธ "I think it's a shame because what they're documenting is inferior," he says. "They're missing the moment completely.
Placebo play very loud – the microphone on your smart device cannot handle the volume at which we play. The sound, will be terribly distorted, because people moving around are going to be shaky. You're going to miss out on what you pay good money to see. I just don't get it.
Every now and then some idiot shows up with an iPad and just blocks the view for about five or six people behind them.
It's completely inconsiderate, in my opinion. It's just my point of view, really, I don't want to come across like a grumpy old man. But I want to achieve connection and I can't connect with people who aren't looking at me. It's not an ego thing. It just seems pointless. What value does that have? I think life is short, the moment is fleeting, the gig is happening."

Be warned. If you pull out filming equipment when Placebo come to Leicester later this month, Brian may well pull you up on it.
๐Ÿ”ธ"I do, sometimes. Sometimes it's not so bad, but if I find it frustrating I will, particularly if the entire front row when you walk out is looking at a phone from the moment the first song begins. On a good day, it's distracting; on a bad day, I actually find it quite insulting.
If I get frustrated, it's difficult. I deal with it, just as I would if a fight breaks out in the audience. I have a unique vantage point and it is incredibly disturbing to see the hatred in these people's eyes sometimes. It affects me emotionally."

It's very different to the days when the band formed.
๐Ÿ”ธ "In the '90s, people were connected, they were jumping, moshing, crowd-surfing. They were in the moment and just there and absorbing the show and this is how I experienced concerts as a teenager and young adult.
They were mesmeric, transcendental moments for me. I don't understand why people wouldn't want to join me in that."
Having said all that, Brian says he enjoys it more now than he did way back when the band was at the height of its success, "because now I perform without the aid of any controlled substances or intoxicants.
We're choosing to do this tour for the fans and for ourselves. For the experience. To have fun. We want to enjoy ourselves." /***/

๐Ÿ“Œ/***/ ... and as the lights dimmed we are teased with a remix version of ‘Pure Morning’, a track very rarely played live, a victim of the “Big Hit Syndrome”, played to death at the time. Molko and Olsdal stride onto stage, full of confidence. Gone are the androgynous looks, Molko looking more like Johnny Depp these days, plain black shirts and jeans are the order of the day in contrast to the superb light show. Olsdal still shows some of that camp swagger, at times provocatively gyrating with his guitar, whilst at other times his tall lanky frame looms over you like a mantis.

The band has always been full of contradictions, from their looks to the varied music. Molko may have shrugged off the more feminine look, but his voice is still angelic. One of the most accomplished vocalists out there, it’s both distinctive and powerful, able to move you with tracks like ‘Too Many Friends’ and frighten you with the full on ‘Meds’.

Tonight they open up with ‘B3’, ‘For What It’s Worth’ and ‘Loud Like Love’ before the first big moment of ‘Every You, Every Me’, and this is the way the gig goes, each little segment slowly building, then down again until the ultimate climax of ‘Meds’, ‘Song To Say Goodbye’, ‘Special K’ and ‘Bitter End’ and with the crowd left wanting more. The obligatory walk off then back on moment with a four song encore which included that Kate Bush song. This fan though still yearns for a full live rendition of ‘Pure Morning’ and another notable absentee ‘Nancy Boy’.

Molko and Olsdal have always strived for a perfect complete package, it’s not just about them up there, they surround themselves with consummate and multi talented musicians who swap instruments. The light show is an integral part of the experience and the guitar changes after nearly every song aren’t about tuning up or endorsements, they are about having the perfect tone and sound for that particular song. And speaking of the sound, it was the best I’ve heard at a large rock gig for a long time.

Placebo are true artists in every sense of the word, and in the wonderful surroundings and splendour of De Montfort Hall, tonight has been a memorable experience. Long may they continue to give us quality over quantity, we wouldn’t want it any other way.

⭐Do you like the review, dear friends? And what do you say to Brian's words?
Yes, now here is my announced question:
Do you think it's right to record a concert on a mobile phone when we all know the band doesn't want it? And is it right to limit the view of the fans behind you with your mobile?

⭐This is also a very difficult topic for us in the team. Why?
Because we like to share great videos made by fans in our posts.
But at the same time, we know that we are supporting something that is uncomfortable for both Brian and Stefan.
Personally, I am very sensitive to this issue. Maybe I'll take a few souvenir photos from the concert. But I don't want to make videos.
I want to take the atmosphere of this unique moment in my heart, just like I did from U2 or Pink Floyd concerts many many years ago...

Today marks 12 years since Placebo’s compilation album ๐‚๐Ž๐•๐„๐‘๐’ was re-released.

Originally, the album saw a daylight on September 22nd, 2003, as a bonus disc from the special edition version of ๐’๐ฅ๐ž๐ž๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐–๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐†๐ก๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ. It was released through the record labels Hut Records and Astralwerks and has gone out of print soon after.

Most of the songs were originally ๐‘ฉ-๐’”๐’Š๐’…๐’†๐’” from Placebo's previous singles.
๐Ÿ“ข"With 'B-Sides' we do a lot of experimental music, a lot of covers, instrumental and stuff like that and it is fun for us," ๐‘ฉ๐’“๐’Š๐’‚๐’ commented in the interview at the Rockwave Festival in 2004.

The very idea of a covers album may have connotations of a concept employed by waning pop artists taking a stab at swing music. However, this collection of re-readings from post-Britpop neo-glam bastions Placebo is an entirely different entity. A smattering of B-sides, live favourites and other rarities make Covers a one-artist compilation album as opposed to a from-scratch covers project, and it functions all the better for it.
Originally released as a bonus disc to accompany 2003 album Sleeping With Ghosts, then given a limited standalone push in 2007, Covers finally warrants a full release in its own right. And headed up by their sullen, cerebral take on Running Up That Hill (a long-established Placebo catalogue staple), its appeal, unlike its sporadic life as an album thus far, is immediate.
An interpretation of Depeche Mode’s I Feel You is among the more dependable covers, as is their 20th Century Boy, originally recorded for the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack. Elsewhere, a radio session take on the Pixies’ Where Is My Mind – surprisingly polished for a live version – operates as both a tribute and a display of fandom towards a band whose influence in Placebo’s output is unmistakable.
Its decade-straddling compilation aspect makes Covers all the more extraordinary, its constancy completely steadfast. The lone exception to the brilliance comes via an oddly faithful version of Boney M's Daddy Cool, which has to be consumed as the side dish to a sizeable main portion of irony to stomach; and yet, its clunky audacity is admirable.
Where an album of this type is often one for the fans, it’s doubtful there’s a Placebo devotee that doesn’t already have a copy of Covers knocking about. Rather, it’s something to turn the heads of the music fans for whom Placebo have never fully broken the surface, and even more commendably for an album without a solitary Placebo original, it sells their incomparable brand of dark, licentious rock beautifully.

๐Ÿ”ธFor an EU capital, Bucharest is not the most tourist-oriented of cities. Finding Romexpo was quite an adventure and then finding the venue within Romexpo was quite a mini-adventure. The biggest procentege of the crowd waiting at the gates was pretty much what you would call standard Placebo fans: girls ranging from 14 to 18, wearing black and goth make-up, but looking very happy and excited. Of course, by the time access was allowed, a more “square”-looking audience started to show up. There was a bit of a delay, a bit of waiting in the sun, but there always is. …/.../

Placebo took the stage as the sun was setting and, no hello’s, no how are you’s, kicked off with perfect opener Kitty Litter. Setlist-wise, it was a standard non-festival Placebo date, circa summer of 2009. Still, for such a madding crowd, it could have just as well been an acoustic cover session of Barbra Streisand’s hits, the fans were that pleased to see their idols.

Ashtray Heart was next and only after that, Molko greeted the public and announced that they will be playing a few songs from their new album. Battle for the Sun, despite its many lyrics, was well-known by the audience. All tracks were, new or old. At the end of the title track, before Molko moaned acapella “I will battle for the sun”, he took a break and demanded more and more noise from the audience. Some decibels records in human shouting must have been broken that night, because the sound was deafening, almost in a scary way.
Molko’s big smile to his guitar-master, when changing instruments for the next song, prooved that the facts immediately sank in:
Placebo is owning this crowd. Bands always talk about the exchange of energy in concerts. Sunday night, in Bucharest, this phenomenon was as visible as it can be.
All rock’n'roll moves and postures were checked by the frontman, with his Fenders finding themselves between his legs on several occasions. Drummer Steve Forrest “broke” concert rules and catapulted his sticks into the sea of raised hands, after finishing certain songs, not just at the end of the show.

Credit: Screenshot from interview

There were also some funny moments. Stefan Olsdal had some difficulties with the beginning of Speak in Tongues, fixed after changing “weapons”.
Molko ironically commented: “Sometimes, guitars play all the wrong notes”.

When presenting the band, he named Olsdal “the queen of Sweden” and Olsdal responded by calling Molko his “drama queen”.
Towards the end of Black Eyed, the frontman signaled the need of cancer-stick to one of his tech-guys๐Ÿšฌ.
Of course, a rain of cigarette packs, coming from the public, landed on stage (accompanied at one point by a bra, that is now probably a part of Placebo’s Tour Treasure… Chest๐Ÿ˜).
He lighted before Happy You’re Gone saying: “It’s fantastic to be in a country where you can smoke on stage. Where we come from, in the UK, they’re slowly taking away every piece of freedom we have left. So, it’s great to be amongst you filling our lungs together”.
This might NOT make a good anti-smoking add.

After Song to Say Goodbye, Placebo said good night, but it was obvious that this is not the end.
The first encore was Infra-Red and Sleeping with Ghost’s hit, The Bitter End. They closed the night with the classic Taste in Men, sounding more massive than ever. The band left the stage in an impressive roar of admiration from the mesmerized crowd. Steve Forrest left with his own little piece of “treasure”: a pair of pants, thrown on stage by some really desperate-to-be-remembered fan๐Ÿ˜.

The night wasn’t over quite yet. A group of fans situated in the left side of the stage spotted Placebo’s backstage lodgings and cheered them out of there for an impromptu autograph session.
This clearly wasn’t any promo duty for them, just a way of saying “thank you” in a more upfront personal way.
Brian Molko was smiling all throughout the signing, but Steve Forrest seemed to be really having the time of his life. He was hugged and kissed and patted on the back and made pictures with anyone asking.
He even graduated magna cum laude from the rock’n'roll stardom baptism of giving an autograph on a lady’s chest. It was the perfect ending of a perfect night (especially for that lady๐Ÿ˜).

After such a mind-blowing response, there is no doubt that Placebo will return to Romania. If not in the following two years, they will surely make a stop when promoting their now-unborn future album.๐Ÿ”ธ

๐Ÿ’ฌ "The Printemps de Bourges must become, for all those interested in song, a place of creation, expression and confrontation on the song of today."

With this sentence, ๐ท๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘–๐‘’๐‘™ ๐ถ๐‘œ๐‘™๐‘™๐‘–๐‘›๐‘” presented a new concept at the end of 1976: a song festival in the heart of a medium-sized provincial town, to be held during the Easter holidays.

The first Printemps was a success: almost 13,000 tickets were sold. From the first festival in 1977, a special programme, "Les Scรจnes Ouvertes" (translated as "the Open Stages"), offered a space reserved for young, unknown or unusual talent. Attendance at the festival continued to grow until it reached 100,000 tickets sold in the 90s. However๐ท๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘–๐‘’๐‘™ ๐ถ๐‘œ๐‘™๐‘™๐‘–๐‘›๐‘”'s concern for quality over quantity has led to the Festival being deliberately limited to around 50,000 seats.

In 2001, for the 25th session, the venue has gathered many great artists such as Muse, Sigur Ros, The Divine Comedy, Tortoise, Henry Salvador, Disiz La Peste, Goldfrapp, Sawt El Atlas and many more. A variety of music from all over the world, which makes the festival a good reputation.

๐Ÿ“– Placebo started energetically with Haemoglobin. The beginning of the concert is dominated by explosive tracks from their self-titled debut album. On Teenage Angst, Bionic and 36 Degrees, the audience goes wild. There is a serious scramble in the pit and Brian Molko gives the security team the message to calm down. Brian takes over the keyboards for two tracks, including the sufuriant Peeping Tom. Wearing a cowboy hat, Stefan Olsdal takes care of the entertainment standing on an amp and provides second vocals on an intense Without You I'm Nothing. Steve Hewitt is hidden behind his drums, but is still very present musically. A fourth musketeer, Bill, joins the power trio on stage to reinforce the guitar sound.

The many tracks from Black Market Music, for which the audience seems to have a preference, prove the effectiveness of the latest album. A very electro My Sweet Prince starts the first encore and the concert ends with a long awaited Pure Morning. The core fans are delighted despite the lack of sound quality. The fans and others leave the Igloo with bleeding ears but with a smile on their faces and don't forget that the next day they will see Divine Comedy, JJ 72 and Muse. ๐Ÿ“•
(๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ค๐˜ฌ๐˜ด.๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ)

๐Ÿ“– Brian Molko blessed by the Gods ? Not sure. Saved from the waters, that's for sure. For this first day of the festival and contrary to all the weather forecasts, the rain gave us some respite. Arriving late under the big top of the Igloo after having passed the few unconscious people who were fleeing the crowd, we came face to face with the guys from Sneaker Pimps who were following Placebo's French tour step by step. The spirit is friendly, but the headliner is late if we refer to the attitude of the audience who will only give a few polite cheers despite the 3000 souls attending (which won't be enough to fill the room). It must be said that the most fervent followers of the power trio had already planned to be in the front row by taking the hall by storm from 3.30 pm. The opening of the doors started two hours later, so we understand the heavy feeling of impatience of some. At 9pm, the applause meter is really flying, Brian Molko has just entered and starts without any introduction on Dub Psychosis. The evening is launched in the same way as the concert in Paris in March and the decibel level is just as devastating. Haemoglobin's saturated guitars are barely audible (so to speak!) and we're at the stage of fearing sudden deafness for the days to come, the sound is not quite perfect and our ears will surely take a hit. Bill, the band's multi-instrumentalist, swaps the keyboard for the guitar and it's an over-excited version of Days Before You Came that triggers the first slams in the crowd. For those who wanted to adopt the same look as Molko by coming to Placebo's concerts in a clean suit, it should be noted that the fall of the jacket is more than advised in the first rows... Afterwards, Brian and his band take a turn towards their 2nd album with Allergic (To Thought Of Mother Earth) followed by Scared Of Girls and the atmosphere temperature hasn't dropped a bit. The die-hards are having a field day and the pit is clearly looking like a battlefield. Stefan takes things in hand and Bionic's bass kicks in before being joined by Brian's guitar. The Igloo tent is overheated and the violent chords of 36 Degrees do not help. The song ends and Molko gives a reminder: There are a lot of people here tonight, so try not to push each other. Try to have respect for each other." The audience nods and Brian takes up his ironic tone: "Don't hurt yourselves, it would stay on our conscience." Thanks for them. Putting their money where their mouth is, the band starts the stripped down Passive Aggressive to calm the heat. As a dutiful leader, the Placebo singer then takes the floor again to pay homage to the pre-engineered King Elvis concert before missing his start on Little Mo: Here's proof that rock 'n' roll never dies." Every You Every Me and then Without You I'm Nothing follow before giving way to an unstoppable end to the first set: Slave To The Wage, Special K and Tatste In Men. The 3 singles in a row would make any octogenarian Charles Trenet fan jump, so what can we say about a venue dedicated to the Placebo cause ! The band goes back to the backstage before returning to polish up the work: a shot of My Sweet Prince, a bit of sweetness in this world of brutes with Commercial For Levi and Peeping Tom before the band goes backstage for a second time. The traditional last encore is awaited and no one is determined to leave the place when Brian appears again to motivate the audience to come back the next day for the rest of the festival's program including Muse, Stephen Malkmus and The Divine Comedy. As the evening drew to a close, the chorus of Black-Eyed's vocals continued to ring out in the tent before Pure Morning's now customary finale. The crowd is finally satiated, the satisfied band lose themselves behind the stage in the middle of a hugging session. Placebo are now done with France before their next appearances in July for other festivals. Later in the evening, the Bourges venue continued to bustle with activity in the nearby bars, but it was clear that Placebo had set the bar high for this opening act. ๐Ÿ“•

Unique festival, which has been held every year since 2004 on the islands and around the Vltava River flowing through Prague, is very popular among its regular fans.
In 2006, the organizers exceeded their capabilities and invited the band Placebo as the star of the festival.
Although the number of visitors was considerable and the islands were full of fans, the organizers got into debt.
However, their enthusiasm is still not drying up. Since 2007, the festival has been shortened from ten days to just two, the big stars of the international music sky are no longer on posters, but even so, there are always many interesting events for visitors that connect all venues on the Vltava River and its embankments and bridges.
And most importantly, this festival has been free for all visitors since 2007.

I found a wonderful review on this amazing Placebo concert in that fateful year.
Brian was incredible that day. According to several videos I can share with you, the fans revealed their great love perfectly, as well as Brian did his best to contact the audience.

United Islands - Saturday on Red Island belonged to Placebo. It could be heard and seen, it could be felt in a way.
It radiated from the visitors, who filled the meadow in Brรกnรญk from 3 pm, although many of them hid in the shade under the trees to escape the hellish heat in the glowing spaces in front of the stage.
Among them, it was possible to see people differently styled in Placebo's image - and not that their black clothes were in any way enviable. But it was clear to everyone that the right time would come after sunset.
There was also high expectations among the performers. Gregory of Southpaw, for example, who told the audience at the end of their performance: "Enjoy Placebo, it will definitely be a great experience!"
And he was right. Although Placebo had a very long sound check, at least it gave time to completely fill the space in front of the main stage with eager fans. They got it! It should be noted that such a precise beginning is not easy to see in a star of this caliber. Brian and Stefan's guitar park was ready - and the owners of the instruments were ready in a moment.
There are not only three members in Placebo. Accompanying musicians stood on the sides, but even so, it was obvious to the eyes and ears who played the main role here. Small and big, Molko and Olsdal, guitar and bass, or two guitars. Only Steve Hewitt disappeared a little behind his drums, although he could be heard clearly.

They played basically the entire current Meds album, surprisingly including the slow Follow The Cops Back Home. It evidently worked as a euphoria-causing drug injection to the audience; and that feeling, it really couldn't be a placebo!
The band also quickly noticed the effect of their music - how great the "ladies and gentlemen of the United Islands of Prague", as Brian Molko called us all, enjoyed.
After all, his actions on stage proved that he experienced the performance with his heart and body. Bouncing, falling to his knees, running, dropping the microphone, everything was possible. At one point, he jumped off the stage into the photographer's aisle, sang a song there, and then disappeared.

"I lost the singer! Shit!" Olsdal commented. However, a minute later, the singer appeared - he had to get around it, because at his height he did not have a chance to climb the podium over two meters high. .../.../
The band did not keep a ninety-minute performance, but even the seventy-five one was rich enough for a captivating guitar experience and another highlight of the festival.

๐Ÿ”ธ Dear Soulmates, do you remember (at least those of you who have seen it) that famous episode where Well, today I'm going to talk about that show. I often see this pop up from time to time and notice some fans don't know the background of this surprising moment. The English trio of Placebo came to deliver their usual dose of decibels at the Galaxie d'Amnรฉville last night. A treatment that is more and more sought after, since more than 10,000 fans came to get the glam-rock prescription delivered by doctor Brian Molko and co.

For their second visit in three years at the Galaxie d'Amnรฉville, the English trio of Placebo delivered their dose of pop-rock mixed with glam to 10,000 fans, visibly craving for the songs of Brian Molko and his two acolytes, drummer Steve Hewitt and bassist Stefan Olsdal. It's no coincidence that their latest album is called ๐‘€๐‘’๐‘‘๐‘ . The addiction to this band, whose songs are openly about sex and various addictions, has now reached several generations, as the Galaxie's audience testified last night, where post-teens, thirtysomethings and forty-somethings came for the same prescription. Is it serious, doctor ? No, of course not, even if it's better not to have a heart condition when the band starts their set with their latest hit, ๐ผ๐‘›๐‘“๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž-๐‘…๐‘’๐‘‘, in which the singer begs for ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’ ๐‘Ž๐‘š๐‘๐‘ข๐‘™๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘๐‘’, ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘’'๐‘  ๐‘”๐‘œ๐‘›๐‘›๐‘Ž ๐‘๐‘’ ๐‘Ž๐‘› ๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘๐‘–๐‘‘๐‘’๐‘›๐‘ก.

๐Ÿ”ธDear Soulmates, today's post will deal with a topic close to my heart.

As a long-time French fan, I have read many reviews about ๐‘ƒ๐‘™๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘’๐‘๐‘œ in the French press. I can't deny that after the success of ๐‘†๐‘™๐‘’๐‘’๐‘๐‘–๐‘›๐‘” ๐‘Š๐‘–๐‘กโ„Ž ๐บโ„Ž๐‘œ๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘ , an album that was praised worldwide, the press has changed its attitude towards the band, often focusing on the fact that ๐‘ƒ๐‘™๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘’๐‘๐‘œ has changed or lost something since the release of ๐‘€๐‘’๐‘‘๐‘ . These critics are sometimes voiced and shared by fans as well.

I'd like to share one of these reviews with you so that you understand what I mean. It was written before the band go on stage at the ๐น๐‘’๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘ฃ๐‘Ž๐‘™ ๐ท๐‘ข ๐‘ƒ๐‘œ๐‘ข๐‘๐‘’๐‘ก ๐‘–๐‘› ๐ฝ๐‘ข๐‘™๐‘ฆ 2014, in Saint-Malรด-du-Bois,

I've chosen a soft critic. Some are harsh.๐Ÿ”ธ

๐Ÿ“ ๐‘ป๐‘ฏ๐‘ฌ ๐‘น๐‘ฌ๐‘ฝ๐‘ฐ๐‘ฌ๐‘พ ๐Ÿ“

After a first week full of sweetness, the Vendรฉe festival is really starting the second one and welcomes this very electric trio this Monday. Rock'n'roll !

The time is long gone when Placebo could be considered as old-fashioned irreverent rock. Twenty years have passed, the band has matured (not to say aged) and in 2013 released its seventh album: Loud like love. Those who wanted to hate it hated it, the die-hard fans said it was better before, the others loved it, especially the single Too Many Friends, with its heady melody and wry humour. In short, it left no one indifferent.

But what was the spirit of Placebo? A punk-rock, rough and tumble. A real cry of rebellion. It was also a look, an attitude, that of Brian Molko, a charismatic singer with a nasal voice, anxious to free himself from conventions. This is evidenced by the many concerts in which he displayed his androgynous appearance, wearing make-up to sing lyrics heavy with sensuality.

A turning point

When did Placebo start to change ? You might think it was with the release of Sleeping with Ghosts, their fourth album, the time when the media started to put the band in the public eye. It could also be their monumental concert at the O2 Arena in 2009, where they definitely broke with their artistic will to never perform in commercial music temples.

As a famous spectacle maker would say: yes, but that was before. The most symbolic turning point came that same year with the release of Death of Nancy Boy, in which the band explained their desire to do away with the character of Nancy Boy, the main title of their first album and a true summary of the Brian Molko character. The explanation: "๐‘Š๐‘’'๐‘Ÿ๐‘’ ๐‘“๐‘’๐‘‘ ๐‘ข๐‘ ๐‘ค๐‘–๐‘กโ„Ž ๐‘๐‘’๐‘–๐‘›๐‘” ๐‘˜๐‘›๐‘œ๐‘ค๐‘› ๐‘Ž๐‘  ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘–๐‘  ๐‘”๐‘Ÿ๐‘œ๐‘ข๐‘ ๐‘œ๐‘“ ๐‘‘๐‘Ÿ๐‘ข๐‘›๐‘˜๐‘’๐‘› ๐‘ก๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘ ๐‘ฃ๐‘’๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘ , ๐‘ค๐‘’'๐‘‘ ๐‘™๐‘–๐‘˜๐‘’ ๐‘ก๐‘œ ๐‘๐‘’ ๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘๐‘œ๐‘”๐‘›๐‘–๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘‘ ๐‘“๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ ๐‘œ๐‘ข๐‘Ÿ ๐‘š๐‘ข๐‘ ๐‘–๐‘", explained Molko, during an appearance on Taratata (2009).

Their strength: the concerts

But then what ? By trying to be consensual, Placebo may have lost what made its identity. Meds and Battle for the Sun are albums that are far from having been recognised by the critics. Loud Like Love, the latest one, has followed the same path, with the excellent (Exit Wounds) rubbing shoulders with the not so good (Loud like Love).

However, no worries ! The band's strength is only fully revealed in concert. Their incredible performances are as energetic as you could wish. The three musicians give their all to make each of their appearances a unique moment for the audience. As the trio's only date in the west, the audience at the Thรฉรขtre de Verdure should get their money's worth.

๐Ÿ”ธWhy this topic is important to me ? Well, not because I am a fan refusing negative comments on Placebo.

My views on Placebo are the same as on people. That is, the people in the band, ๐ต๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘Ž๐‘› and ๐‘†๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘“๐‘Ž๐‘› (and all the other members who were in the band before) evolve over the years, like everyone on this planet. Opinions change, situations evolve, life paths change, and the way you see the world changes. Just life !

What I notice most of all is that the press or some fans would like Placebo to never change and produce the same music over and over again, dealing with the same topics over and over again, in the same way.

Being a fan, in my mind, is not about regretting what our favourite band used to do and hoping fervently that they'll come to their senses, but it is about welcoming the new things they offer us, be it musically or in terms of thinking. We don't have to love everything blindly but we have to try and accept evolution, which is what we do every day with the people around us in trying to understand and accompany them. ๐Ÿ’š

Also, being a fan is not about praising only one band member or being very critical of the artists' appearance or being interested in their private life. In a way, it's like refusing to see that behind the music, there are human beings, with all the complexity that characterises them. It's only ignoring the Art itself, the message transmitted through the songs.

In a way, it's like refusing to see that behind the music, there are human beings, with all the complexity that characterises them.✨

I personally prefer a band with a varied musicality rather than having the impression of listening to the same album even when I change the record. I'm grateful for ๐‘ƒ๐‘™๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘’๐‘๐‘œ to be a band which sticks to who they are without trying to please (despite their name ๐Ÿ˜‰) critics or some unsatisfied fans.
