For me it is a very distant past... I was about twelve years old when my father, a big fan of popular music, got this record from friends, banned in our totalitarian Czechoslovakia. I saw it as a bright moment in our family, of which unfortunately there were not many.

My parents did not have a good relationship, they often argued. But while listening to this song, my mom would smile mysteriously and receive gentle eye contact from her husband. You could say that she melted like chocolate, and I still see it as one of the few very nice moments in the whole life of my parents.

⭐𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎:
The author of the song is ⭐𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄 𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐆⭐, who wrote it for his lover ⭐𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐄 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐎𝐓⭐ in 1967 and recorded it together during a hot moment in a Paris recording studio.

The man who looked like an elegant turtle cross-bred with a particularly louche, chain-smoking wolf was also a singer, a songwriter, a cutting-edge soundtrack composer, a Eurovision Song Contest winner, novelist, photographer, actor, artist, drunk, director, screenwriter, populist, provocateur, sentimentalist, clown, lover, intellectual, and the man who single-handedly liberated French pop. …/.../

'𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐲𝐝𝐞' was the title track of Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot's album together, released in 1968. It was one of a pair of songs Gainsbourg had written in the space of a night following a disastrous early date with Bardot. Struck dumb with either nerves or alcohol, his usual wit deserted him, the evening was a flop and he thought he had blown it. But Bardot phoned the next day and demanded as a penance that he write her "𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦". In fact he wrote two - Bonnie and Clyde and '𝑱𝒆 𝑻'𝑨𝒊𝒎𝒆 . . . 𝑴𝒐𝒊 𝑵𝒐𝒏 𝑷𝒍𝒖𝒔'

Late one night in the winter of 1967, Gainsbourg and Bardot went into a dimly lit studio in Paris and recorded Michel Colombier's arrangement of Je T'Aime in an intimate two-hour session. The two singers were squashed into a small, steamy glass booth; engineer William Flageollet witnessed what he described as "𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘺 𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨". Word leaked to the press that it was an "audio vérité" recording, with the Sunday paper France-Dimanche reporting that the four minutes and 35 seconds of "𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘯𝘴, 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘰𝘵'𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦" set to almost churchlike organ music gave "𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦".

…/.../ She (Bardot) wrote Gainsbourg a letter, pleading with him not to release the record. Gainsbourg protested: "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘪𝘴 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘦. 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘐 𝘸𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘺." But he had witnessed the public's love-hate relationship with Bardot, and put the tapes in a drawer. They would stay there 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 1986 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘨𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 "𝘴𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘦" 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘑𝘦 𝘛'𝘈𝘪𝘮𝘦, 𝘢𝘴 𝘎𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘨 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘵, 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵.

But the most important thing for us is that thanks to Brian and especially his friend ⭐𝐃𝐈𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐑𝐈 𝐓𝐈𝐊𝐎𝐕𝐎𝐈, this song has once again become known to the younger generations.

Dimitri decided to prepare a project about how society perceives certain aspects of human sexuality - ⭐'𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐇 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄'⭐. And he invited Brian Molko, among several other music stars, to participate in this project, because, as they both say, they share the same sense of humour when it comes to sex:

I thought that if I could combine some kind of eroticism into something that is as cold as electronic music, then it would be really interesting. Also I wanted things to be a bit deranged or slightly out of place…kind of the opposite of Britney Spears! Electronic music is so cold because it’s made with machines so if you try to put sensuality into it, it kind of gives it some soul.“

🔹💬„I wanted to have different views, different moods and different sorts of perversions on the album and that's why there are so many different people involved.“

That Dimitri is as persuasive as he's well-connected is clear from the characters he tracked down, who include Velvet Underground legend John Cale and Placebo singer Brian Molko. He also managed to seduce Italian sex siren Asia Argento into performing a version of „Je T'Aime“, though admits he didn't actually know her until she walked into the studio to lay down her part.

„I had this idea of doing Je T'Aime because I've always loved the track, but my idea was to invert the characters roles,“ says Dimitri.

„In the original track, Serge Gainsbourg is fucking Jane Birkin, he's doing the act of penetration and I wanted to invert the roles; to have Asia doing the role of penetrating someone else. Brian (Molko) said he would do it so I asked Asia by sending her an email. Immediately, she sent me an email back saying 'yeah, I really want to do it' so I flew to Italy to record her voice.

She was very nervous when she did it because she's not a singer and she didn't know what I was going to ask her to do, she was still shooting movies at the time,“ he continues.

„We did it in a small room with a very basic recording set-up and I remember her chain smoking with me sitting in front of her. It was a little bit of a tense atmosphere but that was good for the track. She didn't know me, I didn't know her so it was a slightly bizarre environment.“

With Asia being generally acclaimed as one of the world's sexiest starlets, the resulting track is as salacious as Dimitri presumably hoped it would be, reflecting the overall highly polished standards of all 11 tracks on Positions. Musically, he's succeeded in tapping into the talents of all his various collaborators, to produce an album of punk, funk and electro songs that genuinely (and unusually, in this day and age) truly rocks.

I admit that the video from the concert, where both Brian and Argenta are so sexy, is breathtaking and dazzling for me.

(laughs) "Well, I've always thought that love is quite a narcistic thing. You like to see yourself reflected in your lover. Not that I was ever involved with those two, but I do think they're very beautiful women. And a duet always sounds better with someone you have the hots for."

"No, really? I haven't seen her in years. I know Alison from a long time ago. I went to university with Jamie (Hince, aka Hotel, the other half of The Kills). He was the first friend I made in London, and I've stayed in touch with him for the past sixteen years. Jesus, sixteen fucking years, am I really that old? (Molko has recently turned 34). I think The Kills is one of the best bands at the moment. And Alison was very easy to work with, very straightforward - a kindred soul. And you don't meet a lot of people like that. Polly Harvey, Justin Warfield, Michael Stipe... I don't think there are more than that."

𝐁𝐌: No, it's not by accident. I wanted to have female vocals on "Meds". And I thought of Alison immediately. Working with her is very pleasant, and very wild too. We met a few years ago in London, she really wowed me. Since then, I have been following her career, her rise with The Kills. When I asked her to come and participate in working on a song for the album, she agreed right away. In the studio, it's a bomb: Alison is Viagra in its purest form (smiles). She has a very sexy way of singing… She is irresistible.

◾𝐁𝐌: I've known Jamie [‘Hotel’] for 16 years. When we wrote Meds, we thought that a female voice would be a good idea. It was then that Dimitri suggested Alison. Her voice is a real turn-on, like Viagra. She's from another world. When we were in the studio listening to her doing the vocals, all the guys got hard-ons. The Kills are an incredible band. We've seen Jamie in a lot of bands, and we even played with some of them¬ but The Kills!...¬ They're a musical triumph. One of the best modern rock bands.

If I had to describe Alison's personality, I would use words like 'a woman who oozes animality on stage because she truly enjoys her creativity that drives her through life.'

Let's talk about what we know about Alison:

💦𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭 was born on November 23rd 1978 in Verona Beach, Florida, USA.

💦Her rock career started at the age of 14, when as a teenager she used to go singing in bars with her skateboarding friends.

💦She formed her first band '𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓' at the age of 17 and they recorded their first album when the band members were still in high school.

💦After Discount disbanded, Alison moved to London in 2000, where the charismatic 🔹𝐉𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐄 𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄 lived in the flat above her.

💦Jamie is a long time friend of Brian's, they studied together at Goldsmiths and in 1997 he and his band ⭐'𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐅𝐎' were the opening band for Placebo:

Brian: Yes, their album is great, I was in college with Jamie, the singer guitarist of Scarfo. I played drums for him when he went to Edinburgh for a festival, he had created a one-man show inspired by Burkoff, which tells the story of a skinhead teenager. There are a few lines in this play that I robbed for the little poem that I say before "Lady Of The Flowers". He is one of my best friends, we have known each other for seven years.

💬🔹What’s the story behind the nickname Hotel?
At the time I was squatting in an apartment in London and we didn’t have any money or jobs. We got drunk one day and named each other off the top of our heads as a stupid romantic ode to the pop art scene, where they had all these fantastic names like Paul America. I named Alison with a sound, Vv. And she came up with Hotel because at that point my apartment was like a hotel for bands.

💦All, five to date, The Kills albums reached pretty high positions in the UK album charts. Their fourth album Blood Pressures (2011) considered to be their most commercially successful one.

💦In early 2009, Alison joined the supergroup ⭐'𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑', formed by Jack White, along with Jack Lawrence and Dean Fertita. In that band, her stage name is '𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬'.

Alison is always on the move, even during the tour she can accept any offer to collaborate. Among the many famous names are 𝑭𝑶𝑶 𝑭𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑻𝑬𝑹𝑺, 𝑷𝑹𝑰𝑴𝑨𝑳 𝑺𝑪𝑹𝑬𝑬𝑴, 𝑨𝑹𝑪𝑻𝑰𝑪 𝑴𝑶𝑵𝑲𝑬𝒀𝑺, 𝑪𝑨𝑮𝑬 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑬𝑳𝑬𝑷𝑯𝑨𝑵𝑻...

💦Alison is also a painter, she debuted her artwork as part of ArtNowNY's collaborative exhibit, Push It, in 2014. She also had first solo art show, Fire Power, in 2015 in New York. In 2016 she featured in the Impossible Project in Berlin where she exhibited photographs.

…/***/ Her eclectic career is both a testament to her malleable voice — although known for a glitter-bluesy melodic howl, her guest appearances can be ghostly or guttural — but also her restless, nomadic creative nature. “I’ve always, always loved working with people,” Mosshart says. “The power of more people is wonderful, and different ideas and different interpretations. It’s so fascinating to me to work outside of the Kills, work in the Dead Weather, but then also go do stuff with other bands and go sing on someone’s song. You go inside whatever their creative process is and explore. Everyone does something differently. You never walk away having not learned something. It’s great.”

When I was digging into all the places you’ve contributed guest vocals, I was blown away. I forgot that you were on Placebo’s record, Meds, and Primal Scream’s Riot City Blues that same year. How did you end up on both of those records? Were you doing the vocals in person in the studio? Or were you sending stuff back and forth?

Let's start with a short passage from one of Timo's last interviews:

TM: "I started collecting records in the late 1970s and started playing some music out for my friends when I was 13 that was in 1982. I understood pretty quickly that music was my language to communicate with people. I was a very shy bloke when I was young and due to my love for music, I found ways to talk to people through it."

TM: There`s many, as life is very diverse… learning never stops as long you stay openminded, grounded, honest, and have the ability of not being up your own arse“ all the time …

German DJ, producer and remixer 🎈𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗢 𝗠𝗔𝗔𝗦 🎈 was born on July 27th 1969.
Timo bought his first set of turntables when he was 17 years old and played his very first DJ set in 1982 at a party at a friend's home. In 1992 he started to Dj in the European rave scene, earning a name in the electronic underground world. Maas' first record "The Final XS" was released in 1995.
Up to now he has released three albums and almost 50 singles and EPs. His songs appear on more than 380 music compilations and he is credited on about 800 remixes.
Over the years Maas has collaborated with and remixed many artists such as 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲, 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗠𝗰𝗖𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗮, 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗶 𝗔𝗺𝗼𝘀, 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝘆, 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗯𝗼𝘆 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗺, 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗶, 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲, 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝟮𝟭 and of course 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗕𝗢. Since 2008 he runs his own record label Rockets & Ponies.

Timo Maas is also a resident at the legendary 𝐈𝐛𝐢𝐳𝐚 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐃𝐂𝟏𝟎, where he invited Brian to a joint DJ party 𝐈𝐃𝐎𝐋 in 2018. The photos from this iconic dance party are some of my favorites.

𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐚𝐬: I wouldn't go so far to say that it has influenced my personality…but surely [it] has been and is always again very inspiring, no matter working with or for Brian, the band or also Stef`s new project (remix for Digital 21). I simply love and respect the guys loads and I think this will never change.

🔸17 years ago, the album 𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘𝗦 by 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗮𝘀 was released, on June 20, 2005.

 Long-time friends, 𝗗𝗝 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 to collaborate on this album. Containing 12 tracks, Brian provides vocals on three of them:

🔸 The atmosphere of 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 is totally special. The character that inhabits the album is a cold and dangerous personality between an emotionless voyeur and a sociopath. The guest vocals are exceptional, the musical touches are unusual and the whole concept makes it quite awesome !

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐒 is a collaboration of Brian Molko and a British band 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐬. Originally, the song is by 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞'𝐬 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 from their debut studio album “Nothing's shocking” (1988).

⭐️Today we celebrate the 11th anniversary of the cover’s release as a 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆 (June 12th, 2011) but several months earlier, on September 12th, 2010, it was first out on Losers’ album “Beautiful Losers”.
The 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐒 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆 includes the album version, radio edit and four remixes.

⭐️𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐒 are 𝑬𝒅𝒅𝒚 𝑻𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆-𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒔 and 𝑻𝒐𝒎 𝑩𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒚.
Eddy Temple Morris is a British musician, DJ, record producer and TV presenter. He hosted London radio station XFM's specialist show The Remix for 15 years, before moving it to Soho Radio. He joined Virgin Radio UK in 2017 and currently presents mid-mornings on weekdays. Eddy is a “dance floor provocateur of the highest order. He coined the phrase ‘Ibiza Rocks’, was their first resident and has been largely credited with seducing a generation of rockers to loosen their belts and think with their hips.” (𝑆𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑜𝐵𝑜𝑎𝑟𝑑, 𝐽𝑢𝑙𝑦 2010) Another half of Losers is 𝑻𝒐𝒎 𝑩𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒚, a keyboard, FX pedal and guitar player.


The 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 of how Summertime Rolls came into being is quite impressive.
📢𝐄𝐝𝐝𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞-𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐬: “I'm a massive Jane's Addiction fan, and Perry Farrell, their lead singer, loves his electronic music. I always wanted to cover this electronically, and knew that it would be the last track on the album, so that, in a sense, the album would sonically follow a dynamic 'M' shape and leave you with this. […]
I played bass on this and Tom came up with the amazing guitar-like sounds on his laptop, and maybe using one of the array of synths in his collection.
When we finished, we thought about vocals and considered sending it to Perry Farrell to revoice it. I had a connection through the Hybrid boys, who've worked with him closely. But we kinda wanted it to be more 'ours' and felt a UK vocalist would be better. That left us with two choices, who we felt could do Perry's vocal justice. Brian Molko of Placebo, who I knew, and Robert Harvey of The Music, who my friend Danny McNamara knew.
We first felt that Brian would overshadow us, so prepared to contact Robert, but we then switched sides, I think, because were both such huge Placebo fans and really relished the chance to work with Brian. But it was only a snowballs chance in hell, Brian was a busy man. I texted him and he replied that he knew and loved that song but couldn't make any promises. I sent the track, and within 24 hours had a hilarious message back saying: "I love it. I'm doing it. I won't let you use anybody else on this, I'm free on ONE DAY this year, and I'm coming to your studio".
He did. With a cold. But it was now or never. Brian had this incredible tea called 'Throat Coat', or something, an American, medicinal brew containing 'slippery elm bark'. I tasted some and it was like magic! It literally coats the back of your throat in this yummy, slippery stuff, so you don't get that horrid scratchy feeling from a sore throat. Brian said it's the 'singers' best kept secret'. That combined with the brandy he sent me off to buy - purely for medicinal purposes - in miniature bottles did the trick and Brian laid down, I think, one of his best ever vocals. We really stretched him, and he rocked it like the true pro he is.
I don't think Brian has ever recorded a vocal in such scummy conditions, in front of a multi-stained, upturned sofa, masquerading as an impromptu vocal booth in the Coopers control room. Now I look forward to the day he sings it live with us.”

📍By the way, sometime earlier, in 2009, there was another kind of collaboration between Losers and Placebo: 𝑳𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒔’ 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒙 (𝑴𝒂𝒙𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒍 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒎𝒊𝒙) of 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 was released on the single Ashtray Heart.

When 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 thought of finishing the chorus of the song 𝑺𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒆 during the recording of 𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒕 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄, the idea of including a rap part was born. He felt that Justin would be the ideal person to do this. Brian invited Justin to the recording studio and Spite And Malice as we know it was born.

💬 It was a song we had been working on for a long time and we didn't have a chorus. We couldn't get it right and we didn't want to force it. Brian suggested Justin Warfield. We've known him for five-six years. He's a real rapper, not one of those wankers like Puff Daddy. We sent him the song and let him rap. It was a panic, but it's a great experience for us. We want to stay spontaneous and not compose with ready-made formulas. That's the end of a band.

💬 We had this track that had been around since WYIN, which was basically an eight minute jam, which we brought down to a four and a half minute song. The verses were there but we did not have a chorus and didnt really want to force anything out. So we said let's try a rap...Placebo and rap? Well, yeah! We had known Justin since we had been on the same label. He was in a band called One Inch Punch. Justin was introduced to Brian, a few years before and he just became a friend. He was the only other person, other than Chuck D., who we could think of, and I think Chuck D was busy. We called Justin and he was really up for it.

I can't force the words to come out, I like it when it comes naturally: "When it flows out". And the idea came to me: we've been listening to Public Enemy for ten years, "Come on! Let's do some rapping". And I know the guy to do it: Justin. Even Justin Warfield wears make-up sometimes: that's why we were introduced to him! He's one of the only rappers with make-up! The song was written by Brian and composer Rachel Corkett. Maybe her name sounds familiar to you because her husband Paul Corkett produced Placebo's third album ”Black market music”.

The English actress, singer and model Birkin attained international fame for her decade-long musical and romantic partnership with Serge Gainsbourg. One of their most famous songs is ”Je t'aime... moi non plus” which was released in 1969 and caused an enormous scandal because of its sexual explicitness.
I guess we all know and love the cover version of ”Je t'aime... moi non plus” that Brian recorded for Dimitri Tikovoi's music project Trash Palace with Italian actress, singer and model Asia Argento in 2002. That's by the way an interesting similarity between the two women, isn't it?

💬 We wrote texts for Dimitri, I wrote one in the style of William Burroughs. It's about a guy who lives in Los Angeles and sells his sperm to famous lesbians so they can have children: that's the story. But it was very interesting to work on the record, because it's very different music from what we usually do and I really like that kind of music.

💬 The idea of the "metric system" came to me as a reaction to living in England or the United States. The two countries that keep this ancestral system of measurement in inches ! And then there was this news story about this gay couple who had taken David Crosby's sperm from Crosby, Still & Nash to have a baby. So I imagined this guy who lived in California, who was a sperm donor for a famous lesbian.

Everything is dynamic and above all to be taken to the second degree !

𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 is a band founded by English musician 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒔𝒐𝒏 and Israeli rock singer 𝑨𝒗𝒊𝒗 𝑮𝒆𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒏. It all started in 2001 when 𝑨𝒗𝒊𝒗 invited 𝑷𝒐𝒓𝒄𝒖𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑻𝒓𝒆𝒆 (the band in which 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒔𝒐𝒏 played) to perform in 𝑰𝒔𝒓𝒂𝒆𝒍 as he was a big fan of them. From there it arose between 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 and 𝑨𝒗𝒊𝒗 a friendship that led them to write music together and in 2004 they released their self-titled debut album "𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅", followed by "𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝑰𝑰" (2007), "𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒚 𝑫𝑵𝑨" (2011), "𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝑰𝑽" (2013), "𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝑽" (2017) and "𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄" (2020). Since the album ""𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒚 𝑫𝑵𝑨", 𝑨𝒗𝒊𝒗 𝑮𝒆𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒏 has led the 𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 project as 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒔𝒐𝒏 wanted to concentrate on his own solo musical projects and although in 2014 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 stated that he wanted to leave the band to date, he still continues to do small collaborations on 𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 albums. On September 11, 2010 𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒍𝒅 was the opening act for 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐's concert at the 𝑻𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒂 𝑽𝒊𝒃𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒌 in 𝑨𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒔, 𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒄𝒆.

Today English-French singer, songwriter and actor Jane Birkin celebrates her 75th birthday. She is a woman that Brian adores, and in 2004 they recorded the song “Smile” together which was released on the album “Rendez-vous”.

On December 14th 1946 Jane Mallory Birkin was born in London, UK. She began her career as an actress at the age of 20.
In 1969 she met Serge Gainsbourg while co-starring with him in the film “Slogan”, and this encounter marked the beginning of a working and personal relationship that lasted for decades. In the same year Jane and Serge released the scandalous song “Je t'aime moi non plus”, which Brian covered with Asia Argento in 2002. She also acted in the same-titled controversial 1976 film under Gainsbourg's direction.

Jane also appeared on his 1971 concept album “Histoire de Melody Nelson”, she portrayed the Lolia-like teenage protagonist in the song and on the cover. With “Ballade de Melody Nelson” Brian also covered a song from that record.
After separating from Gainsbourg in 1980 Jane continued to work as both an actress and a singer, appearing in various independent films and recording numerous solo albums.
Birkin has resided mainly in France since the 1970s. She is the mother of photographer Kate Barry (d. 2013), actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg, and musician Lou Doillon. In her career she has released 14 studio and six live albums and starred in more than 70 film productions. Her humanitarian interests have also led her to work with Amnesty International on immigrant welfare and the AIDS problem.
