🎉 Today we celebrate the ⭐ 𝟏𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐘 of 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐's "𝐁𝟑 𝐄𝐏" ⭐, which was released three days later than originally announced, on October 15, 2012.

The "𝑩𝟑 𝑬𝑷", was produced by 𝑨𝒅𝒂𝒎 𝑵𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒆, 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑩𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒍 and 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐; consists of five tracks, two new songs ("𝑩𝟑", "𝑰.𝑲.𝑾.𝒀.𝑳"), two unreleased songs that were recorded in the sessions of the previous album "𝑩𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒏" ("𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒙𝒕𝒓𝒂", "𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑰𝒔 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒚") and finally, "𝑰 𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝑾𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝑻𝒐 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒑", the cover of the 90s band 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒙𝒖𝒔.

On May 31, 2012, the band announced on their website that after taking a well-deserved break, they had returned to the studio to record new music.

And so it was, the following month 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 premiered "𝑰 𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝑾𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝑻𝒐 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒑" a cover version of the band 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒙𝒖𝒔, in four of the five concerts of the mini tour "𝑨 𝑹𝑶𝑪𝑲 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔", which are to date the only times the band has played this song live.

Then, on July 28, 2012 at the 𝑳𝒐𝒘 𝑪𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝑭𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒍 in 𝑩𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒎, 𝑺𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒏, almost at the end of the show, 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐 paused to premiere their brand new song, which he introduced speaking in 𝑺𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉, saying more or less like this:

🎙️"We reconvened in the summer of 2012 ostensibly to record a new single as we had just signed a new record deal. That single morphed into the five-track B3 EP which we released in the autumn to placate the more militant factions of our fanbase."

🎙️"[...] At the time we got in the studio to record one and only single, just one song. Then we thought fans would like to hear more, that's where the idea of the EP came from. While we were in the studio recording "B3", the idea of working on a full album insidiously came in our minds. Spontaneously, we were already writing Loud Like Love."

The cover photo of both the CD and the limited edition clear vinyl is very special, as the boy kissing the glass and behind those clouds of steam is none other than 𝑪𝒐𝒅𝒚 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐. The photographs were taken by his mother, the photographer 𝑯𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒂 𝑩𝒆𝒓𝒈. On the other hand, the internal images of the sky were taken by 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐 and the design was done by 𝑨𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒚 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒌. Along with the release of the "𝑩𝟑 𝑬𝑷", 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 launched the "#𝑩𝟑𝑲𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏" 💋 where fans had to recreate the cover to win a framed test print of the "𝑩𝟑 𝑬𝑷" cover picture signed by 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏, 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 and 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕. The winner was chosen by the band members themselves.


⭐ 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 ⭐
✨ On the occasion of 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝑫𝒂𝒚 on April 20, 2013, a limited edition of the "𝑩𝟑 𝑬𝑷" was released on 10-inch clear vinyl.

✨ The "𝑩𝟑"official video was released on October 17, 2012 and was directed by 𝑬𝒓𝒊𝒄 𝑬𝒑𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒊𝒏.

✨ About the title track, 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 and 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 stated that:
🎙️" 'B' means "Brian", and 3... well, it’s just a number."

Dear soulmates,
we have a second ♦️𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗬♦️ to celebrate: On October 7th 2016 Placebo did not only release the retrospective album “A place for us to dream” about which we talked earlier today, but also the limited edition vinyl EP and download 🎶“𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘'𝗦 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗜𝗧"🎶.

The record consists of six songs, half of them cover versions. It was produced by Adam Noble and Placebo. Stefan Olsdal, Bill Lloyd and Adam Noble engineered the tracks.
In an interview with NME in October 2017 Brian stated that two songs on the EP, the Talk Talk cover “Life's what you make it” and the Placebo single “Jesus' son”, are “possibly two of the most commercial tracks that we've ever done. We have a tendency to react allergically against what we’ve just done, so it's highly likely that the next thing we do will be something akin to career suicide. ” Well, it wasn't, as we know by now. ;-)

In June 2017 a video for the EP's title song was released. It was directed by Sasha Rainbow and filmed at Agbogbloshie in Accra, Ghana, the site of one of the world's largest electronic waste dumps. The video concept by Brian was loosely based around the original 1986 Talk Talk clip in which frontman Mark Hollis and company are surrounded by nature and “little beasties crawling over leaves”. What he had in mind was an updated version wherein Placebo “would be robots playing instruments and that e-waste would replace nature, as it appears to be doing only a few decades after the song’s original release” (Xs Noise, June 5th 2017) . But Brian also said that the video is not anti-technology. ”It is about the triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity that has not been chosen” (Gigwise, June 15th 2017). He added that he hopes it will make the viewer think about the repercussions of just throwing away tech that doesn't work anymore. ”There are several new and ingenious ways to recycle them these days. Some companies will even give you money for it. All it takes is a little more effort.”

The last time they played it was at 𝑰𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒂𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒌 𝑭𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒍 2015 (Finland) on July 18, 2015. During 2012 𝐁𝟑 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 they used to play this song in the encores and throughout the 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 it was the song they played to open their concerts.

Most of us heard this raw punk song for the first time. Surprisingly, however, this is a cover version of a British indie band from the 90's - 🔸𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐗𝐔𝐒.
The band released only one album - Pabulum in 1995 and then disbanded. We can only speculate as to why this song stuck in Brian's memory for so long that he decided to revive it after 17 years.
What is certain is that the band Minxus once played live with the band 🔸𝐀𝐂 𝐀𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐒, whose frontman 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 is Brian's close friend. Therefore, this could lead to a friendly and creative connection of all three bands.


This song was even played 4 times live - during the B3 Tour in 2012.

Anyway, the song "𝐈. 𝐊. 𝐖. 𝐋.". is also unique in its graduating musical energy, noisy guitars sign the Placebo style more than many of their other songs. Finally, we can hear Stefan's great-sounding vocals here, which we don't enjoy much in other songs.

𝐑𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 (October 24,1959 – December 30, 2009) was an Australian rock musician, guitarist and songwriter, best known for his work with the post-punk band 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 and his subsequent solo career.
Howard’s music was inspired by progressive rock, glam, Syd Barrett, Brian Eno and especially, 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑩𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒆. According to his brother’s memories, young Rowland wanted to be alike Bowie’s fantastic rock’n’roll characters.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 was active from 1978 to 1983 with Nick Cave as a vocalist. The band relocated from Australia to London in 1980 and subsequently to West Berlin.
They have been called one of the darkest and most challenging post-punk bands in the early '80s, and their single "Release the Bats" was particularly influential on the emerging gothic scene. Howard's discordant guitar considered to be a major factor in the band’s sound.

As soon as Howard and Nick Cave started to suffer 'creative differences', Howard left 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲, so they transformed into The Bad Seeds. He soon became a member of 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 & 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and appeared with them in the iconic movie 𝑾𝑰𝑵𝑮𝑺 𝑶𝑭 𝑫𝑬𝑺𝑰𝑹𝑬 by German filmmaker 𝑾𝒊𝒎 𝑾𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔 playing the song Six Bells Chime in a Berlin Club. Their inclusion in the film was essential for 𝑾𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔 because “musically, that’s where Berlin was at the time.” The director called Howard and his mates a “bunch of Australians who landed from a different planet. […] There was a hush when they showed up somewhere. They were really big. They were the biggest thing in Berlin.”

𝑾𝑰𝑵𝑮𝑺 𝑶𝑭 𝑫𝑬𝑺𝑰𝑹𝑬 is a 1987 romantic fantasy film about invisible, immortal angels who populate Berlin and listen to the thoughts of its human inhabitants, comforting the distressed. Even though the city is densely populated, many of the people are isolated or estranged from their loved ones. One of the angels falls in love with a beautiful, lonely trapeze artist. The angel chooses to become mortal so that he can experience human sensory pleasures, ranging from enjoying food to touching a loved one, and so that he can discover human love with the trapeze artist.

Later Rowland S. Howard formed the band 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐬, worked as a solo artist and also collaborated with Lydia Lunch, Nikki Sudden, ex-Barracudas singer Jeremy Gluck, guitarist Gavin Poolman, French electro group KaS Product, Barry Adamson, guitarist Chris Haskett, Henry Rollins to name a few.

We can find 𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓 on the first Howard’s solo album Teenage Snuff Film (1999).

In an 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖 with 𝑩𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒃𝒐𝒂𝒓𝒅 done in November 2011, Stefan talked about Placebo’s plans of recording some new music in 2012.

📢"That was one of the longest tours we ever did, supporting that album [Battle For the Sun]," Olsdal tells Billboard.com. "It lasted the better part of two years. We're still recovering from that, really." Nevertheless, Olsdal says he and singer-guitarist Brian Molko are "continually writing" and should be ready when the trio -- which also includes drummer Steve Forrest -- decides to hit the studio in 2012.

"I'm in touch with Brian," Olsdal says. "He'll bring in a track or parts of a track, or I do, or we just kind of jam something up in the studio. The shape and sound of the next album will be decided when we get back together. I suppose once we came off the road it was kind of hard to plug in a distorted guitar again, because we'd done that every night for the best part of two years. When we came back home it was nice to hear nice, clean, acoustic sounds, so maybe we'll still feel that way when we start to (record)."

📍On November 23rd, 2011, the band announced via their Facebook page and official website that they would return to the studio in 2012 to record their seventh studio album. In August 2012, Brian Molko revealed on Italy's Rai Radio 2 that a new single entitled "B3" would be released in September.
Instead, a bit later, the band announced that they would release not only a single but a five-track EP titled B3 on October 12th. In fact, EP was released on October 15th, three days later than predicted.

📢𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧: "We reconvened in the summer of 2012 ostensibly to record a new single as we had just signed a new record deal. That single morphed into the five-track B3 EP which we released in the autumn to placate the more militant factions of our fanbase."

📍Cover design and sleeve photography for the EP was done by 𝑯𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒂 𝑩𝒆𝒓𝒈, Brian's ex-girlfriend and mother of his son Cody. She actually used their son’s photos for the EP artwork.
Anthony Crook was also responsible on the sleeve design. Fiona Brice did string arrangements on The extra. Besides Placebo members, David Bottrill and Adam Noble worked on production; mixing was done by Alan Moulder and Neil Comber, mastering by Tim Young.
📍The songs of the EP were recorded at both RAK Studios in London and Metalworks Studios in Toronto, Canada (while Placebo have been working on their previous album Battle for the sun).

📍For the 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟑, which was on April 20th, Placebo prepared a limited edition of 3000 copies of B3 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒍𝒖𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒚𝒍 to be released throughout Europe.

An impressive music video, directed by 𝑺𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒂 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒃𝒐𝒘, was released half a year later, in June 2017. It was filmed at Agbogbloshie in Accra, Ghana, the site of one of the world's largest electronic waste dumps.

Pretty rarely mentioned 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠 #𝟔 was written by Ashley Slater, a member of the British band 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫. Their music was a mix of acid jazz, funk, soul, and trip hop.
𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠 #𝟔 comes from the band's 1996 album More of Everything for Everybody. An interesting fact is
that it was featured in a 2004 British-American movie 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝟒𝟔, a dystopic science fiction love story.

Today we celebrate the ♦️𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗬♦️ of “𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗗 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗬 '𝟬𝟳”, which was released 14 years ago on July 30th 2007 in the USA only. The EP consists of eight tracks, five single versions of hit songs from every album until 2006 and three live performances. All live songs were recorded by Ian Nelson and mixed at Shireshead Studio in Lancaster.
