My memory is still very vivid. Our whole house was already asleep, I was sitting in bed buried in pillows, the lit candles materialized the shadows and the incense stick made the perfect atmosphere.

And at exactly midnight, something fantastic came. Pure Placebo like a cut diamond. The lyrics, which didn't make much sense, still filled me with a dark melancholy. The strange sound of the drums in the middle of the night was absolutely hypnotic, Brian's voice repeating the monotonous verses brought me almost to the edge of a trance. And the ending with the piano was simply "Wooow... I didn't expect that...". Since then I wanted to hear it again and again.

This song was based on Brian's realization that he was being spied on by his neighbors who did not respect his privacy.. Unfortunately, this always happens when you live near a celebrity. However, with the advent of technology, virtually every smartphone owner has become a potential paparazzo.

Thanks to Brian giving us an explanation for this song, we have a clearer idea of why it was created.

From this song, I sense an indictment of all of us for allowing these technologies to take over our daily lives. Not only do we silently suffer from CCTV in big companies because we care about money, about our livelihood. Not just that cameras in the streets have crept into our actual reality and intimacy. But we ourselves contribute to it very frivolously by sharing the details of our lives with 'Big Brother' on a daily basis. The mobile phone has become our most faithful companion, searching for a contact with a live person is second only.

Brian's concern about the enormous impact of these technologies led me to yet another term.

Do you know the term 🔹𝐋𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐦 and the resulting 𝐍𝐞𝐨-𝐋𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐦?🔹

🔹𝐋𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 - members of a secret organization of English textile workers in the 19th century. They protested the boom in the textile industry by destroying the newly invented weaving machines for fear of losing their jobs.
From this comes the term 🔹𝐍𝐞𝐨-𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐦 - used to describe someone who is opposed or resistant to new technologies.

There’s some kind of darkness in this song. We wanted music to be very expressive, evil… We’re trying to find the hope, trying to find the cracklings of light in our songs but I think that 'Surrounded by Spies' is probably one of the darker moments. When it comes to Placebo lyrics, generally, on all the albums there were elements of personal, emotional honesty. I think that we’ve realized that it’s what makes the song universal - if you make it personal, sing of what you’ve experienced on this planet, whatever the feeling may be. We always discovered the darkest sides of human psyche and human’s emotions which are not easy to talk about, to acknowledge that we have sometimes. So I think this track is continuing in that way.“

In my opinion, with this song and the seemingly unrelated verses of the lyrics, Brian is expressing his concern about our being overwhelmed by all the different virtual media we have let into our lives.

When you read the verses, they don't seem to put together any story. It's as if headlines and bits of news from various sites across the internet are running in front of our eyes.

Can you see that now? It's another one of the masterpieces of the last Placebo album.

To create this song, Brian used a special method - the ⭐"cut-up technique"⭐, which was used by the writer and representative of the 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐬, and which the unforgettable icon David Bowie fell in love with, and even made his own computer program for this method of creation.

💔⚡Once upon a time there was a very shy not very handsome boy and a really very pretty girl. In a fairy tale, this seemingly romantic story would probably have a happy ending. But in reality it was a great tragedy that was deeply etched in my memory.
A boy fell madly in love with a girl who was admired by other classmates. He gathered all his courage and started courting her. The young lady laughed at him in front of everyone and continued to ignore him. But she was his whole life. He still had her image in his mind and his heart was bursting not only with pain but also with jealousy.
Here it feels like I'm describing Thom's reason for writing the Creep (Radiohead) song...
Well, this story continued...


The boy withdrew and for a few weeks did nothing but stand outside her window in the shade of a huge tree in her garden and watch his goddess whenever she was in her room.
I'm not going to stretch you any further. The girl's father called the police and accused the boy of obscenity. The young man could not bear the huge misunderstanding of his expressions of love and one night hanged himself from that huge tree in her garden exactly so that he was looking into her window at the moment of his death.⚡💔

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦?
At the beginning of this special term for the voyeur is a very old legend about Lady Godiva of Coventry, which has several versions. One of them states that her husband, Earl Leofric of Mercia, imposed an oppressive tax on the citizens.

Lady Godiva begged him to end the suffering of the people. But Leofric had a condition - he insisted that Godiva must ride naked - covered only in her long hair - through the city on horseback.

Before beginning this quest to help Coventry, Lady Godiva told everyone to stay indoors and shut their windows to preserve her modesty. She then rode through the streets, her long hair draped so that it covered almost her whole body, allowing only her legs and eyes to remain visible.

The name "Peeping Tom" for a voyeur originates from later versions of this legend, in which a tailor named Thomas watched her ride and was struck blind or killed for it.
Lady Godiva really lived and was married to her husband Leofric in the 11th century. However, the truth of the legend is denied by the fact that, according to historical sources, this noble married couple was known for their charity in favor of the church.
This means that many versions of this legend arose over the next several hundred years as a folkloric tradition associated with the annual fairs in the locality of Coventry.

Honestly - I stopped accepting this senseless human behavior a long time ago and that's why I live in the mountains, where I have the opportunity to think more about everything that is really important.

And no wonder Brian is increasingly asserting his dislike of cell phones at his concerts for the sake of his mental health, even having to move into the unknown because of snoopers around him.

💜𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐲 - let's try to perceive Brian's insistence with our hearts rather than with our egos. Let's try to imagine that this man is communicating with us through his talent and his work, in which he has put his heart, and therefore he welcomes our feedback, he wants to feel our hearts, our joy, our tears, our understanding.
It's about the energy that you're sending back towards the stage in that moment.

🎶“𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐃 𝐁𝐘 𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐄𝐒”🎶

This song was inspired by Brian's neighbours who did not respect his privacy. Brian: “I've moved since then, but they thought it was okay to spy on me because I was famous.That triggered something in my head about global surveillance, about cameras filming us [...]” (see quotes below).

The song is also a criticism of modern society. Brian explained that he began to ponder the countless ways in which our privacy has been eroded since the introduction of worldwide CCTV cameras and the rise of the internet and the cellphone: “It has turned practically every user into a paparazzo and spectators in their own lives” (NME, November 18th 2021). Also, we are often unaware of the fact that with all those cameras we can be watched mostly all of the time.


As we know Brian is also very critical with social media, especially when it comes to sharing personal information: “If you want to talk about your most private moments on posts on social media or if you just want to post your dinner or whatever it's just your prerogative. You can if you want but just because you do, don't expect me to, you know, why should I make the same deal with the devil that you made? [...] I don't expose my private life and just because other people find it completely natural to do that, I don't see why quiet people like me should feel pressured to do the same" (Maniacs, March 25th 2022)”.


In another interview Brian revealed that “Surrounded by Spies” is “a true story told through a lens of paranoia, complete disgust for modern society’s values, and the deification of surveillance capitalism”. The character in the song is at the end of their tether, hopeless and afraid.
The lyrics may seem confusing but that probably derives from the fact that they were written by using the “cut-up technique”. This is a writing method made popular by American writer William S. Burroughs (1914-1997). It involves the cutting up of written text and proceeding to rearrange them in order to compose new ones. It's interesting that Placebo's mentor David Bowie also used this technique in some of his songs.


According to Stefan there's a mysterious vibe to “Surrounded by Spies”, almost like a spy movie soundtrack. “I feel like I was able to build a sound that is a mix of tension and chaos, while interweaving high-speed beats that sound like drum'n'bass”, he stated in a chat with Billboard Japan. In his opinion the character in the song feels the pressure of modern age and what it can do to them, how it can slowly turn the world very dark. And that at times it can feel like there’s no escape. Stefan: ”Maybe we don't see so clearly where we are going until it's too late, right?”


“Surrounded by Spies” was released as single on November 9th 2021, it can also be found on Placebo latest album “Never let me go” (March 2022). The track was recorded at RAK Studios in London and produced by Adam Noble. Engineering and programming were done by Noble and Bill Lloyd.


The song is part of the current tour. The shared live version was recorded at Arsenal Fest in Kragujevac, Serbia, on July 1st 2022.

Extremely personal information that can be used to manipulate us, that can be used to defraud us, that can be used to influence us in God knows how many ways and how we've allowed ourselves to be seduced by the pot of gold, you know, which is this ever youthful, ever optimistic, ever enthusiastic, colourful thing, which is social media. This vacuous thing and what we've offered up in order to have this at our beck and call at any moment. So these days, when people complain about their relationship to social media, I'm kind of like, what, you're upset because you can't show your nipples on Instagram. If you want to expose yourself on social media, if you want to talk about your most private moments on posts in social media, do you get validation from that or if you find therapeutic relief from that, or if you just want a post your dinner or whatever it's just your prerogative. You can if you want but just because you do, don't expect me to, you know, why should I make the same deal with the devil that you made? Why can't I make my own? 𝐻𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑜 𝑠𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠!
It's time to read a 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖 with 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐅𝐀𝐍  that was published on the website guitarworld.com last Wednesday. In it, 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇 talks about the album "𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑳𝒆𝒕 𝑴𝒆 𝑮𝒐" but also goes back in time to tell us how he discovered his passion for music and how he became a multi-instrumentalist musician since he was a young boy, among other things.

In 2022, says 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 bassist 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍, making music includes using challenging and intriguing forms. The band’s eighth album, 𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑳𝒆𝒕 𝑴𝒆 𝑮𝒐, had its genesis in 2019 – and 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍 explains that bandmate 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐 came up with a fascinating concept for it.

This pared-down writing process brought another freedom to the mix. “𝘐’𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘥𝘳𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴!” he says. “𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵; 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘴. 𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺."

The result is an electronics-filled piece of work which, as well as providing the unique 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 crunch, has a subtlety of timbre through its meticulous focus on arrangement.

🎤 “𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘶𝘣-𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥,” confirms 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍. “𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘴, 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘉𝘺 𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦. 𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑳𝒆𝒕 𝑴𝒆 𝑮𝒐 continues the band’s interest in loops and effects, and the album’s opener, 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒔 is an example of that approach.

That urge to push at boundaries, says 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍, is both inherent and valuable.

📍𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍 was born in 𝑮𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒈, 𝑺𝒘𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒏 in 1974. It wasn’t too long before music started to speak to him, he says,

𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏’s older brother was a guitarist, and as anyone with siblings can confirm, there’s always a blend of rivalry in play. 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍 the younger decided to learn that instrument too, motivated by the opportunity to outstrip his bro’s chops. His first songwriting efforts followed soon afterwards.

History often pivots on such moments of serendipity, and in 1996 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 released their self-titled debut album. 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐’s experimental post-punk leanings and 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍’s multi-instrumental nature proved an excellent fit.

𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏’s bass guitars in the early days were a 𝑭𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑱𝒂𝒛𝒛, which he used for the band’s first three LPs. Following that, he switched to a 𝑮𝒊𝒃𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝑻𝒉𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒊𝒓𝒅. For the new record, however, he’s turned back to a tried and trusted instrument.

Famously, 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑩𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒆 became a 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 fan after hearing the huge hit 𝑷𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈. At the time, the group were absolutely flying and were able, to an extent, to take it in their stride.

🔹 𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑳𝒆𝒕 𝑴𝒆 𝑮𝒐 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒍𝒃𝒖𝒎.
𝓑𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷: I put my heart, my passion, my sadness and my anger into it. As I get older, I get angrier and angrier. It's the world ! Even before the murder of George Floyd, we were already following the police violence in the US that led to the Balck Lives Matter movement. Then came the pandemic, the Brexit and now maybe a third world war. It's as if we can never rest, never get out of this permanent uncertainty, the very real possibility of dying... Not to mention the climate disaster. Are we screwed as a species ? Probably. It's hard for me to be optimistic.


🔹 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒈𝒐 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅'𝒔 𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒔 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓 ?
𝓑𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷: When we started out, we were both in the living room recording on a cassette recorder. Twenty-seven years later, we were in the studio we built. After celebrating our twentieth anniversary, we realised that we had gained a freedom that we didn't have before. And I was really afraid that I would start to get bored. So we broke with our method and started at the end.


🔹 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 ?
𝓑𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷: By the album cover. In 2016, I went into the studio with the photo, and I asked Stefan if it would make a good cover. The photo was taken in Northern California. It's a bay that was used as a garbage dump in the 1950s. Ten years later it was cleaned up and nature took over. Today, it is a protected beach. For me, it's very moving, because it's a perfect example of how nature can go from waste to beauty if you leave it alone.

𝓑𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷: Yes, it's nice to see the animals coming back. I left the city too. I broke from London in February 2021, a month after Brexit. I was so angry that it was starting to have a very negative effect on my health. Brexit was like the British government asking me to choose. And it wasn't difficult. I've always had a European identity. I was born in Belgium, I grew up in Europe. I came back to Europe.

𝓑𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷: I've changed since then, but my old neighbours thought it was OK to spy on me because I was famous... That triggered something in my head about global surveillance, about cameras filming us. The question I ask in this album is: what is the human price to pay for all this progress ? But I don't have the answer.

𝓑𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷: Unfortunately, it's almost impossible. We do our best to tour sustainably, but even by bus we create pollution. And I have to say my thought: the carbon footprint was invented by BP. To shift the obligations of governments and multinationals onto the people. We can all go vegan, if Coca-Cola, McDonald's and the oil companies don't change, it won't be enough.

𝓑𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷: Like everyone else, we have to make a living. After almost three years of not being able to work, it's important to play the biggest shows possible. I have responsibilities, I have to continue raising my son (𝘊𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘔𝘰𝘭𝘬𝘰). He lives between me and his mother. At 16, he is already a professional actor. In a series on Netflix for example (𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘰𝘯𝘦). And he's a better musician than me. Keep an eye on the new Molko. He's going to be bigger than the first one.

🌠 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝟐𝟎𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑻𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒊𝒏 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟕.
🎤 That tour seemed like an eternity to me. As a result, I personally started to become disillusioned with the name and existence of Placebo, and I feel like I had no idea what we were trying to do here. I felt like we were on an endless commercial journey, that our souls were being destroyed and the band was bearing the brunt of the negative effects. So it took a lot of effort and time to think about starting all over again.


🌠 𝑫𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅?
🎤 It felt like I lost the band in my head. I thought there was no other way for me to survive, and it was the first time I felt so extreme. However, I think I was able to start walking again relying on the feeling that there was about 1% left in the cup to move forward a bit.


🌠 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒅 "𝑵𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑹 𝑳𝑬𝑻 𝑴𝑬 𝑮𝑶," 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒃𝒖𝒎 𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔.
🎤 I think the fact that it has been quite a few years since our last album means that it took us a while to make the record we really wanted to make. Now we have some beautiful songs that we can show off on tour, and we feel like we're in a good shape.


🌠 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒖𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒃𝒖𝒎?
🎤 Having spent more than half of my life in Placebo, I feel like it has been deeply engraved in my DNA and that's what drives me. So when we talked about making a new album, I couldn't say no because of my love for Brian and the band, my love for the fans, and my love for what we have accomplished, even though the past tours have been painful in many ways. Sometimes I was overwhelmed by Brian's enthusiasm during production, but I couldn't have done any of it without him, and I think I'm here because he was there.


🌠 𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒃𝒖𝒎 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒅.
🎤 In terms of album production, I think this pandemic was an advantage. It was frustrating at times, but it gave me and Brian time to digest what we did, come up with individual ideas, bring them back and develop them lyrically and musically.


🌠 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌?
🎤 From a technical standpoint, I think we've allowed more spaces in the sound than on any of our previous records. Before, it was like, 'I gotta fill in here, I gotta fill in here. Where's the drum beat? Where's the bass?' But then I remembered that the music also needs silence. Silence is there to create anticipation. It took some courage to do that, because I've been making records with a lot of sound so far. But this time, I've evolved as a musician by doing that, and I want to add more nuances from now on.

🎤 I would have to say "Forever Chemicals" at the beginning of the album. It was the first song we worked on for the album, and it starts out as a weird drum loop I had on my tablet, but I had a lot of trouble finishing it. It's a song with a lot of emotion and it's a great way to start off the album.

🎤 Strings have been an essential instrument in our work since our fifth album. Adam Noble (who has worked with Paul McCartney, Liam Gallagher, etc.), who produced the song, and I finished it while talking about The Beatles. I can't speak to the world of this song, but the strings definitely add to its beauty.

🎤 There's a mysterious vibe to this song, almost like a spy movie soundtrack. I feel like I was able to build a sound that is a mix of tension and chaos, while interweaving high-speed beats that sound like drum'n'bass. But the piano tone that resonates at the end makes the song land on something beautiful.

🎤 I think it might have an otherworldly feel to it. In fact, it's a kind of desolation, or post-apocalyptic, or what happened to life, ...... yes, exactly what happened to life, and just looking at the ocean, again, it's also a place to dream. But if you look closely, the small stones are pieces of artificial glass, rounded and smooth from being washed ashore so many times. In short, they represent a kind of memory of what mankind has scattered on this planet. This image is very beautiful and evocative, and I think it's enough to encapsulate the album.

🎤 I opened my mouth a little more this time. I mean, I'm singing more on this album than I ever have and I'm more confident. Brian also praised me, 'You're like Martin Gore to Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan. I don't think I'm that good, but I really enjoyed singing on this album.


🌠 𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒃𝒖𝒎?
🎤 I'm ready to tour with this album… Self-confidence comes from being a band and feeling good about the sounds you make. I don't think we would have been able to go on the next tour if we hadn't made this album. Playing live has been an integral part of my life since I met Brian when I was 19 years old. I love this band so much and it would be a mistake to just release an album and not tour. On the upcoming tour, I think people will be able to enjoy the charm of the album from multiple angles.


🌠 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅'𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒆𝒅 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒑𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕?
🎤 I think it's integrity. We've had our lives threatened at times for standing up for what we believe in, but we've been able to write our truth in everything we've ever released so far. I feel like that sincerity is what keeps us going.

🎤 The love I get from the band's core fans is very important to me now. Our daily lives are simple and not very revealing, but we want to provide everyone with the best possible images, photos, and artwork we can.

Formed in 1994 in the 𝑼𝑲 by 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐 and 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍, 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 released their debut album "𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐" in 1996, which reached #5 in the 𝑼𝑲 charts, and since then many hits have been released. So far, they have successfully performed twice in 𝑱𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒏, and will embark on a world tour from May 2022.
