Today I have an old 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖 with Brian from the late 90ies for you, it was printed in The Sun Herald in 1999. Brian talks about David Bowie, the weirdest gifts he has received from fans, the last time he cried, modeling for Calvin Klein, drinking with Marilyn Manson and leaving dirty messages on Madonna's answering machine. 𝘽𝙍𝙄𝘼𝙉 𝙈𝙊𝙇𝙆𝙊 𝙊𝙉 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝘾𝘼𝙏𝙒𝘼𝙇𝙆

Recently I talked to you about "𝑭𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒚 𝑳𝒐𝒖𝒅", which was a fashion show / concert where 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 played in 2006. However, this wasn't the first time that 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐 stepped on the catwalks.
So, today I bring you a recap of 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏's foray into the fashion world and some extra facts.

𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏's first experience in the fashion world happened while he was studying at the 𝑮𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒉'𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆 in London. He combined his drama studies with modeling and doing parades for 𝑨𝒈𝒏𝒆̀𝒔 𝑩, 𝑮𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒊 and 𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒗𝒊𝒏 𝑲𝒍𝒆𝒊𝒏, among others.

Already when 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 had attracted the attention for their original style - both musical and aesthetic - and achieved considerable success with their first two albums, it was when designers once again set their eyes on them and were called upon to model for 𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒗𝒊𝒏 𝑲𝒍𝒆𝒊𝒏, as 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 stated in the following quotes:

🔸🎙️ "We've done modeling for Gucci in the past and we've been photographed by David Bailey for fashion shoots . I'm in fact just going to modeling for Calvin Klein in March. So Placebo: movies, music and modeling at your service "

Finally, those photos for 𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒗𝒊𝒏 𝑲𝒍𝒆𝒊𝒏 were never used. A pity, because in my opinion, they would have been a great success. 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 talks a bit about what this experience was like in the next interview:

Another occasion where 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 was a runway model was at the fashion show of the Scottish designer and musician 𝑷𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒂 𝑯𝒐𝒈𝒈, which was held on September 21st, 2000. This marked the return of the designer after five years of not to come up with a new clothing collection. Here you can watch a video of this 𝑷𝒂𝒎 𝑯𝒐𝒈𝒈's fashion show

🔺✨𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭 ✨🔺
On February 13, 2002, an event called "𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝑺𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒆𝒓𝒌𝒊𝒏" ( this strange name was taken from a pubic wig ) took place at a London club called "𝑪𝒂𝒇𝒆 𝑫𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒔". Among those who attended were: 𝑴𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒆, 𝑩𝒐𝒚 𝑮𝒆𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒆, 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒘𝒔 (𝑬𝒙-𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒂 𝒗𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕), 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 and 𝑷𝒂𝒎 𝑯𝒐𝒈𝒈; all were set to do short live performances. The theme of this party was "𝑽𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒆'𝒔" and there was also a wedding reception, since 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒚𝒏 𝑴𝒂𝒄, one of the hosts, celebrated her wedding with 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒚 𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒌𝒆 that afternoon. 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 took the stage around 11 pm and played a version of 𝑩𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝑰𝒅𝒐𝒍's, "𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈" with 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 on vocals, 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍 on guitar and 𝑩𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝑳𝒍𝒐𝒚𝒅 on bass. A duet with 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐 & 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒘𝒔 was also scheduled but that didn't happen and instead 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 sang "𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝑮𝒐 𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑴𝒚 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕" a duet with 𝑷𝒂𝒎 𝑯𝒐𝒈𝒈.

🔸🎙️ “As in everyday life, on stage I wear a lot of clothes from Agnès B and Christian Dior. They suit me. I also collect art. I already own one by Andy Warhol and one by Joan Miró and am currently trying to acquire a work by Jean-Michel Basquiat. Of course, I have to find something not very big - such canvases cost more than 2 million euros, for this I am definitely not that rich. But this is the only nonsense that I allow myself. Since I don’t have a driver’s license, I don’t have to waste money on expensive cars. ”

Besides from having modeled his clothes and being one his favorite designers (along with Dior, as we can notice in the quote above), 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 is also friends with the famous French designer 𝑨𝒈𝒏𝒆̀𝒔 𝑩, who has also dressed artists like 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑩𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒆, 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑳𝒚𝒏𝒄𝒉 & 𝑻𝒐𝒎 𝑾𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒔, to name a few. On October 4th, 2006 𝑨𝒈𝒏𝒆̀𝒔 held an special event at the 𝑶𝒍𝒚𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒂 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒆 in Paris to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her brand, in which she presented her summer 2007 women's wear collection and ended with a rock-concert called
"𝑩 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄 𝑭𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒍", where 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 was invited to perform as well as 𝑺𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒄 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉, 𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒊 𝑺𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒉, 𝑨𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒆 𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒇𝒊𝒕 and more.
