🔹 It's quite interesting that Placebo covers this song because of the lyrics that fit perfectly with the Placebo spirit.

🔹 For me, I interpret this song as an internal duality. The kind of conversation you can have with yourself that sometimes is encouraging and sometimes shows you everything in black and how difficult it is to get out of this vortex of depression (𝑚𝑦 𝑏𝑟𝑜𝑘𝑒𝑛 𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑟𝑖𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑧𝑒𝑛 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑒)that prevents you from really realising that the situation, whatever it is, is not as catastrophic as you think.

🔹 However, I think that the central point of the song lies in the last sentence: 𝑤𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑𝑛'𝑡 𝑖𝑡 𝑏𝑒 𝑔𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝑖𝑓 𝑤𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑎 𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑒 ? Because in the end, that would be the solution to live happily and serenely...

💬 I love the contrast between the music and the lyrics of this song. The music is quite light, pop, while the lyrics are dark. And it's one of the songs that we grew up with, so we have a soft spot for it. So we decided to record it as a b-side for one of our singles. We did it mostly for fun. The recording session was very enjoyable.

💬 (𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘴) Well, it's a song that's been in my head since I was a kid. Nik Kershaw did a lot of hits when I was a kid, but the only song I liked was Wouldn't it Be Good. There's such a mood of despair in that song, even though the melody is very positive. You know, I have a list of songs I'd like to cover one day in my computer. And Nik Kershaw sounded right. When we do covers, we go into the rehearsal studio and we have fun. It's like taking a holiday. The song also has to suit us as a band, and that was the case here. Probably the best choice we made was Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush.
