✨🌠 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑨 𝑯𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒆 𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 🌠✨

Dear soulmates, let's take a closer look at this pretty special version of "𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏" that 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 only played live in some of their concerts between 2004 and 2005.

It is known as the "𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑨 𝑯𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒆 𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏" because at the end 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐 sings some lines of the song of the same name originally written by living rock and roll legend 𝑵𝒆𝒊𝒍 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈, a song he wrote in July 1975 after a cocaine-fuelled night with friend and 𝑳𝒂 𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒂 neighbor 𝑻𝒂𝒚𝒍𝒐𝒓 𝑷𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒑𝒔 in the back of his car, (a 𝑫𝒆𝑺𝒐𝒕𝒐 𝑺𝒖𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒏), when 𝑵𝒆𝒊𝒍 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈 was unable to sing due to an operation on his vocal cords. "𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑨 𝑯𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒆" was first released on his album "𝑨𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒔 '𝑵 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒔" in 1977 while on August 8 of the same year an edited version of the song was released as a single. It has been played on almost every tour 𝑵𝒆𝒊𝒍 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈 has done since then. It has also appeared on the compilations "𝑫𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆" and "𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑯𝒊𝒕𝒔" and on the live albums "𝑳𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑹𝒖𝒔𝒕", "𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒅" and "𝑼𝒏𝒑𝒍𝒖𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒅".

On the other hand, "𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏" is the second track from 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐's fourth album "𝑺𝒍𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑮𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒔" (2003) and was released as the fourth single on February 23, 2004, reaching number 23 in the 𝑼𝑲 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒕.

🎤 "As Taste In Men, I wanted to write something repetitive. A sort of mantra which speaks about leaving… My lover leaves me to travel, I watch the planes in the sky, I tell myself she is perhaps into one of them. I'm still in London, it's summertime, it's raining, it's boring and I miss her terribly."

So far, the band has never given any statements as to why they decided to include these lines from "𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑨 𝑯𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒆". Nevertheless, in my opinion, it further elevates that bewitching sonic journey of hypnotic bass lines and electronic elements that is "𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏".

I must say that the first time I heard this version it moved me so much the way 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 sang those extra lines that I couldn't help but shed some tears. And precisely that video I watched is the one I have chosen for you this afternoon.

It was recorded during 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐's concert at the 𝑷𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒐 𝒅𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒔 in 𝑴𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒄𝒐 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚 on April 7, 2005 when the band was promoting their compilation album 𝑶𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑭𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 and also for your delight, below you can watch other videos of 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 performing this version. 😍
