🎸 On 25 July 2007, 15 years ago, the 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒌𝒕 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑻𝒐𝒖𝒓 began and Placebo was one of the major bands on the festival, which was originally 𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒏 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒌.

🎸 The tour started in 2002 in the United States and continued in Toronto in 2007 and in some European countries in 2008. The aim of the tour was to bring together artists and fans from different styles and genres.

🎸 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒌𝒕 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 gathered artists such as Cypress Hill, Mudvayne, Xzibit, Korn, Snoop Dogg, The Used, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, HIM, Placebo, Mindless Self Indulgence, et Chris Cornell.

🎸 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑩𝒆𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒕𝒐𝒏 was very keen for Placebo and Muse to participate in the festival as he stated in Revolver Magazine: "𝑃𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑒𝑏𝑜 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑀𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑠𝑜 𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑡𝑜𝑝 𝑜𝑓 𝑚𝑦 𝑙𝑖𝑠𝑡, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑀𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑𝑛'𝑡 𝑑𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 ℎ𝑎𝑑 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑖𝑡𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠. 𝐵𝑢𝑡 𝑃𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑒𝑏𝑜 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑣𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒."

🗨️ "The guys from Placebo are some of the nicest people. They had this thing, like I came out one day off the bus, and in front of the buses, there was like this little tent and on the front of it had been spray painted "𝑃𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑒𝑏𝑜 𝐺𝑎𝑧𝑒𝑏𝑜". And they had made their own like little outdoor oasis with truck stop goodies, it was the funniest thing, like a little gnome and a little astroturf and a white picket fence that's about this tall around it, it was so funny. They'd be out there barbecuing and riding their bikes."
✔️ 𝙲𝚑𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝙱𝚎𝚗𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐𝚝𝚘𝚗 𝚒𝚗 𝙰𝚞𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚊 (𝟸00𝟽)

🎸 In 2007, 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒏 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒌 decided to make the tour carbon neutral by donating one dollar from every ticket sold to the forests of America through their Music for Relief Foundation. They also used biodiesel fuel on a majority of their buses, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 350 tonnes. Information stands were set up to encourage fans to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. It's really no wonder that Placebo was seduced and accepted Chester's offer to take part in the festival. 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒇 is a non profit charitable organization founded by Linkin Park which helps aid victims of world catastrophes and combat global warming.

🎸 The festival lasted for 29 concerts and ended on September 3, 2007. Placebo had to adapt their setlist as you will discover in the following quotes. Brian admitted in an interview that the "𝑚𝑒𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑐 𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑠𝑒𝑡 𝑑𝑖𝑑𝑛'𝑡 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘" because the audience "𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑟𝑜𝑐𝑘". Not easy to deal with an audience that is not usually yours ! 🙂

🎤 Done halfway, already. It’s kinda flying by. It’s been good. It took us a while to kind of adjust to the crowd, to get the right set list together and kind of fit into the whole way for us to get through to the audience in the best possible way. We tend to be the outsiders, you know, we can’t feel quite comfortable being that. When we started we definitely felt a bit like that. We don’t scream as much as the other bands. We kind of work around that, and I think by the second week we got a good set. We’re getting more reaction from the crowd than the beginning. We play for half an hour in the middle of the day, and it’s usually baking hot with the sunshine. You gotta get people’s attention. A lot of them have never heard of us before.

🎤 It’s a really good vibe backstage. Linkin Park are very approachable – not only are they approachable but they approach you. There are no big egos floating around – it’s great… I was kind of expecting there to be a lot of people running around backstage with bottles of Jack Daniels and ruby sluts hanging off their arms… But it’s been really cool. It hasn’t been that rock-and-roll cliché. Which I’m really happy about, because I’m not a particularly big fan – not a fan at all – of that rock-and-roll cliché.

🎤 Well, we started this tour with a lot of bravado because we’d spent 18 months touring the world, preaching to the choir. We walked out on stage in Seattle dressed in our French designer clothing, like we would in Europe, played our melancholic songs and then went down like a complete lead balloon. We had to really rethink it. It took us about four gigs to find the right set [of songs]. I think we realized that at 5 p.m. in the afternoon Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance fans didn’t want to be wooed with melancholia; they wanted to be slapped across the face with noisy guitars. So we’re doing a very kind of punk rock show featuring songs we haven’t played in years, such as “Pure Morning” and “Nancy Boy.”

◾ 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 ? 𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒗𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏.
🎤 We don’t play them anymore. They were exhumed. But, it adds to the challenge: How do you play with sincerity a song that you have made a choice to never play again? And because you’re in a particular situation, you have to be flexible and not be precious.

Last week, the whole article was dedicated to the band 𝑹𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒐𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅, today I will introduce you to two other named artists.

💢𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐨 and 𝐋𝐂𝐃 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦, the second mention in Placebo rituals.💢
𝐋𝐂𝐃 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002 by 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐡𝐲.
The band whose musical style best describes the word "𝑑𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑝𝑢𝑛𝑘" has 8 members, released 4 studio albums and won many musical awards in their career.
We've already written about this band, but it probably didn't remaine in your memory.
𝐋𝐂𝐃 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 was one of the bands actively involved in the protest against Margaret Court in Australia. Together with 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐨 and 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫 𝐑𝐨́𝐬, they spoke publicly in support of the same-sex marriage law and sharply criticized the namesake of the Margaret Court Arena where their concerts took place.
LCD Soundsystem is a close band for Placebo. A few words about this band from Stefan:

A very famous American rapper, born in 1969. Known as the husband of the singer Beyoncé, with whom he has 3 children. He has influenced many artists and has also collaborated with many well-known musicians: Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Linkin Park, Alicia Keys, R. Kelly, Rihanna and many others. He has one more thing common with Brian and Thom Yorke - they have openly protested against Spotify's streaming of music.

Here Brian mentions Jay-Z briefly in this article from 2017:

I'm not a fan of American rap at all, but this is definitely worth seeing - Jay-Z with Linkin Park and a wonderful memory of Chester Bennington, who I really miss.

At the end of this post, I will allow myself a small departure from today's topic.
Chester and his addiction and depression ended in suicide in July 2017.
Again, I must recall Brian and Stefan's efforts to talk as much as possible about this sensitive topic.
Here you can watch a video where Chester is shot a few hours before his death. It was published by his wife Talinda, with this sentence:
