Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal met while both were studying at Goldsmiths College in Luxembourg. In 1994, they met again by chance at South Kensington tube station in London, England. Brian saw a tall boy with a guitar strapped to his back and realized it was Stefan. Brian invited Stefan to see his next gig. Stefan attended and, after the gig, proposed to Brian to form a band together. In October 1995 they released their first single "36 Degrees" and a year later released their debut album "Placebo".
In autumn 1996, Robert Schultzberg, the first drummer, left the band and Steve Forrest accepted the invitation to join Placebo. Together with him they recorded four albums: Without you I'm Nothing (1998), Black Market Blood (2000), Sleeping With Ghosts (2003) and Meds (2005). In October 2007, due to musical differences, Steve Forrest left the band and Steve Hewitt joined. We can hear him on the albums Battle for the sun (2008) and Loud Like Love (2013). Once again, in February 2015, the drummer left the band and Matt Lloyd joined this time. Placebo celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2016 with a compilation album and tour called "A Place For Us To Dream". Currently we are awaiting the release of their ninth studio album.
