Dear soulmates, it's Wednesday again. After last week's break, we continue our favorite series.
What do you think of the opening quote?
In my opinion, it goes very well with today's lullaby, which is so exceptional that I dedicated a separate post to it.

For a long time, it was my absolute favorite Placebo song to end every day.
𝘈 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘺𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘶𝘯𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘣𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘰 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵, 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘏𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘳𝘶𝘮𝘴, 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘧𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘷𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘱𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘰.
An absolutely perfect, downright sedative lullaby, as the piano accompaniment in harmony with the guitar is full of tenderness and peace compared to the lyrics.

A simple text that hides the pitfalls of unfulfilled love. What better way to express the fact that someone finds your love annoying...
Who tramples your admiration like a cigarette butt...
That person knows how to cruelly kill any of your attempts to get closer with his/her a chilling sight.
Perfect verses about suffering, whether love was and ended too soon or never was, but you long for it with all your being and know you'll never have the chance.
But it is quite possible that it is also a description of dominance, not directly physical (BDSM), but rather emotional... The author describes how the object of his interest treats him and in a way he enjoys it himself...
What do you think?

Maybe it's related to Brian's trouble sleeping, insomnia is something that drives you a little crazy, and in the time between waking and short-term dreaming, all the demons you have inside of you come out.
I know this from my own experience, I suffered from insomnia for a year and a half.

Not only did Brian change the line "𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳" for "𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘴𝘰𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳" for the live performances, and added the verse "𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘪𝘦" at the end.

Because Brian changed LENI's original lyrics by adding verses to the then unborn song "𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐊𝐄𝐘" from the later 𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐒 album, giving this lullaby a whole new dimension, which I just love about Brian, I think it's genius.

I kneel before her,
Beneath this frozen sky
Beneath her shoulder,
Beneath her evil eye
She towers over this male who is a fly
My sci-fi lullaby
I kneel before her,
Beneath this frozen sky
I beg below her,
My limbs are paralyzed
She feels much softer
Than any kind of guy
My sci-fi lullaby
Beside her
Astride her
I die inside her
Forever
And ever
She's born to mesmer
It's sacred
Don't break it
Don't let go
Let me die
Cross my heart
And hope to die
