Today we can celebrate the ♦️๐—”๐—ก๐—ก๐—œ๐—ฉ๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—ฆ๐—”๐—ฅ๐—ฌ♦️ of a great single. "Bright Lights" was released as the fourth official single from Placebo's album “Battle for the sun” eleven years ago today, on the 8th of February 2010. It was available as CD and as download.

Brian said about the song that its lyrics are ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜† ๐—ฎ๐˜‚๐˜๐—ผ-๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฐ and a “complete confession from my point of view” (see quote below).
On the previous Placebo albums Brian used to invented fictional characters to tell the story of a song but on “Battle for the sun” he didn't, so the result was a very personal and honest record.

๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด๐—น๐—ฒ ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป of "Bright Lights" is slightly different to the one on the album, as it features backing vocals by Val Etienne & Hazel Fernandes. Apart from the mentioned single version the CD also includes a remix of “Bright Lights” by Randomer and a live performance of “The never-ending Why”.

The shared ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ผ ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜€ ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฏ๐˜† John Kennedy from ๐—›๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ญ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ฒ๐˜€ and produced by Mary McCarthy. In my opinion the music clip is in tune with the song and even with the album title, as it starts with a dark setting only to end with Placebo playing on a background of blue skies — the journey from darkness to light that “Battle for the sun” supposedly embodies.
Enjoy watching and listening!

“The lyrics are very autobiographic, a complete confession from my point of view. On former records I used to invent characters, through which I could talk about my feelings and fears. I used these characters as selfprotection and catalysator to express myself. This time I didn't do this. The voice of the storyteller is my own. I think this record is much more honest and personal with these lyrics.“
