it's Wednesday and therefore our favorite topic can continue again.
The first lullaby puts you in the mood for a gentle evening mainly thanks to Brian's voice, even though the lyrics take us again to the dark depths of the human ego.

the second single from Placebo’s fourth studio album "๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐พ๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐".
Maybe you know it, maybe you don't, but this rock-punk version has an older sibling.
⭐„๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐“⭐ was originally written as a piano ballad but while in the studio, changed into a rock song. This latter version was included into the album. Luckily, an original version wasn’t also lost. Its live performance for ๐น๐ป๐ณ2 ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐ was released on This Picture DVD single.

We wrote it on tour and it was a very REM piece, an atmospheric piano thing, quite abstract. Then we were in the studio, and we covered it in a pretty punk way...“
๐น๐ฌ“Those are images that keep following us around no matter where we go. You see them when you least expect it and at times when you don't really need it. It brings back everything because of a certain smell, song or place. I find it very interesting, the way things follow us around. And I'm very open: I live the genre of the song. When you look back on certain relationships you can see who the person really was, which you couldn't at the time you were in it. You understand reality and you see that the memories you have can make a person seem very different.“
Outwardly, 'This Picture' is crammed with basic SM imaging, but behind the metaphor, it denounces the self-destructive love relationships. It was a way to say that this state of mind doesn't interest me anymore. I've been damaged enough in such relationships in the past and now I've got nothing more to do there. I changed, I quit."

Sometimes I too 'burned' emotional cigarettes on the chest of the man who loved me. Such relationships are always self-destructive for both parties, because no matter how inflated your ego is, your heart will always show you that you have not behaved properly.
That's why I initially took this song as a mirror setting. That's what Placebo music can do. We are not always the victim in a relationship, sometimes it is necessary to admit that we have played the game on our side of the field and don't always play by the rules.
Today I know that self-awareness is the most important part of lived experiences. What my role was, what should I have understood from this situation and how important it is to be able to forgive, both myself and others.

It is important to know what we are willing to do to preserve a certain image we have of ourselves.
And it's important to remember that how we see ourselves can be different from how others see us.

Let's go to the second gem of the evening. In order to share some live video, I chose a non-Placebo song.
The original version comes from unique singer Sinรฉad O'Connor. Do you already know which song we are talking about?

Placebo covered the song in 2003 and released it on their single DVD “This Picture”. It can also be found on the album “Covers”.
It's Brian's very favorite cover, did you know?
I guess my favorite was "Jackie," the Sinead O'Connor track, which is why I chose to include it in our MTV Unplugged performance. […]“

A great artist who, I understand, decided to give it all up definitely. A pity ... Still, this song is beautiful. It is for a man who is leaving her. By covering it, as the three of us are guys, we somewhat perverted the meaning and we like that. It adds a sexual ambiguity that looks like us...
This epic story can be interpreted in different ways, in any case, performed by Brian, it's a breathtaking lullaby.
This song always connects me to my meditative moments by the sea.
I live inland, but I have been to the sea many times and I return with love every time. I always need to find a quiet place where I can sit undisturbed, watch the waves move, feel the sand moving under my feet and just be... part of the whole universe...
And when I look at that amount of untamed water that has tremendous power, I can imagine the pain of millions of people who have lost a loved one at sea. This great mass of water gives and takes life.
Although Sinead's original Jackie is beautiful, Brian makes me feel more of the pain, the non-acceptance of reality, the denial that it can't be over yet. The false hope that everyone must have been wrong. My love is still alive and coming for me.
