In just a few days we will celebrate ✨๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐ง๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐✨, Placebo's third and absolutely iconic album.
The following lullabies are from that album and have something else in common:

A song that was played right at the beginning of this very intimate gig.
The original almost punk version in a fast rhythm has a completely different effect on our minds than this beauty, which you can hear in the link below.
Just remember the recent post by Olga, which beautifully describes that during this song it is simply impossible to do anything else at the concert but to be loud and show the connection with the band with your whole body and that is why "๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐" is part of the setlist again, so that we all leave our mobile phones in our pockets.
I absolutely agree with her observation. However, the complete opposite is the slow version of this gem.
If you let yourself be affected by the lyrics you already know by heart in a slow version, maybe, like me, you will feel that its wildness and electrifying charge is gone, leaving only a wounded soul that maybe wants to give up on everything.

That is why I find Brian's reference in these verses very interesting:

The ๐น๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐น is an old film by ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ป๐ด๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐บ๐ฎ๐ป. It tells the fiction of a knight returning from a crusade across a plague-stricken landscape. On this journey, the knight meets Death, with whom he plays a chess game for his life.
If you haven't seen the film, I recommend it.

Many posts have been written by us about this song.
In the fast version, it's a really great song that will get us all singing and dancing en masse.
However, the slow acoustic version takes me to a whole other dimension.

The slow version of "๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐" gives Brian's message in the lyrics a completely different energy.
For me, it is a highly spiritual song, expressing even more loving support to keep breaking down our boundaries and constantly overcome our limits...
When I hear Brian's honey voice singing

...it's like I'm floating in a universe that shows me an infinite number of ways to spend every other minute of my life.
It gets me into a deeper meditation where I feel that my desires for self-realization can handle obstacles with more ease than when my waking ego, full of fears and worries about what others will say, steps in.
And as David Bowie says "...

"It’s about following your dreams and not getting stuck in the nine to five machinery. It’s about promoting individuality."
“It's a song about chasing your dreams. …/.../ It's basically saying, promoting individuality and saying that you don't have to follow society's rules in order to become a personal success. It often involves a bit of risk taking and courage. But we're certainly living proof of the fact that these decisions that we made when we were very young, we're living proof embodied that the road less traveled can be incredibly fruitful, if you stay true to yourself, if you have the desire to be an individual, if you have the desire and the courage to chase your dreams. …/.../ And if you're prepared to make sacrifices and take risks, if you're lucky, if your karma is good, then these things will payoff in the end. Which I think it's a positive message really.“

Dear friends,
the song ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฏ๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ was performed in a slow version at another very special concert.
This brilliant piece was part of the setlist at
Here you can compare the two live shows separated by 14 years.
