⭐️PLACEBO INTERVIEW (20 MINUTES, 2013)⭐️

𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘰, 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴!
It's time to share with you a 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 that I found and that I don't remember having read before. It was published on the 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒉 site 𝟐𝟎 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒔 on the same day their seventh album "𝑳𝒐𝒖𝒅 𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆" was released (September 16, 2013); and although it is a short interview, it has a mix of emotions because it starts a bit tense, but it also has a funny and a reflective part. Enjoy reading!

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐮𝐦?
📢𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐: It took us a while to find the right energy, the right way of working. It took a lot of questioning to figure out that we had to stop questioning.

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭?
📢(𝑆𝑖𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒, 𝑡𝒉𝑒𝑛 𝑙𝑎𝑢𝑔𝒉𝑡𝑒𝑟) 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐: Well, we won't go into that. There were ups and downs between us. Then we put it all together and moved on.

𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧'𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠?
📢(𝑁𝑒𝑤 𝑠𝑖𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒) 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐: There are open couples where the spouses keep their infidelities to themselves, out of respect for the other...

𝐘𝐞𝐬. 𝐀𝐧𝐝?
📢𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐: I don't know what I was getting at. Anyway, you can't compare Placebo to a couple. We're more like a family. We love each other, we hate each other. We can't stand each other but we know each other so well that being together is also very comfortable at times, and very strong at others.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬.
📢𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐: We are a blended family, a modern family.
📢𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕: Don't say I'm the kid, please.
📢𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐: And we have a rebellious teenager.
📢𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕: I hate you.

📢𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍: France is a country where we have always been well received, maybe because Brian speaks French fluently. I think that the French are less attached to pop fashions than the English. As we have always been against the current...

𝑰𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟎𝒔, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆.
📢𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐: In spite of us.
📢𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍: We were younger and we didn't pay attention to fashion, we made the music that inspired us at the time and we were the fruits of that time. It was all natural.

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐧?
📢𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐: We listen to what's going on, we see the trends, like everyone else. But it doesn't affect our music. If we tried to follow the trend on this album, it would have sounded like an album from 2010... Because we are quite slow.
📢𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍: Brian doesn't want to imply that we are old, mind you.

📢𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐: Maybe there was a time when we were a bit more wild. Now we're pretty wise, that's true. But I don't think our music is.

𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐞, 𝐧𝐨. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞…
📢𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍: But we make love songs.

𝐒𝐚𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬.
📢𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐: Yes, in an incredibly original way, we are inspired by love's trying feelings. Fingers crossed that love will still be in fashion in 2013.
