๐ฌ On addiction in general, yes. It echoes a lot of the themes we've dealt with in the past: love, feelings of abandonment, addiction, confusion... Nothing but happy topics (laughs) ! With Placebo, there is a certain tendency to go towards emotions that are a bit painful. The dark sides of human beings... We translate them on a musical level, which allows us to be more optimistic in everyday life. More positive. We are lucky to have this possibility of expression, and to have, to complete the picture, an audience that is sensitive to it. It brings a certain balance and stability to our lives. In fact, we exorcize our dark side through music.

๐ฌ All the songs do form a kind of link. They complement each other and have a common context. But in fact, we recorded others that didn't fit into that final mould. With Placebo, there's no pre-established strategy, no battle plan when you make a record. Our considerations are much more organic than strategic. The title, for example, was really the last thing we decided on, because the word summed up the mood of the album.

๐ฌ An addiction is a form of escape: you run away from yourself. It's a way of not facing life, to make things worse. Of course, you can have more or less control over it. It depends on whether the problem is due to your environment or whether it comes from your chromosomes. Sometimes it's hard to face things. To look at yourself with detachment. Living empirically, experimenting, is always easier than "following a path", but at the end of the day, you can't run away forever. At some point, you have to deal with all aspects of your life. Even the most painful ones.

๐ฌ For all three of us, music has played a truly defining role in our lives. It's what gets us up every morning. Without it, we'd probably be completely depressed, probably in a bad state. We wouldn't feel as strong without our band, not as fulfilled. It's really something very strong. In a way, you could say it's our Saviour.

๐ฌ It's important for rock to move towards other musical genres. To dare to mix things up. That's what we've done in the past. Rock can take on an electronic flavour, for example. In the end, what's important is the emotion, isn't it ? The emotion you feel when you create the songs, and that you manage to share and transmit to other people. After that, it doesn't matter if we sound modern or not. On Meds, we really thought at the beginning that we were doing something very electro, very hip-hop influenced. In the end, the album is more in line with the universe of the first two albums. And in the end, we sound more like a rock band. So OK, maybe it's not the height of modernity, but there's a spontaneity, a directness that we had lost a bit. Our goal is to create records that you can still listen to in twenty years. A timeless approach. Even when we're dead, people have to be able to listen to this album. Keeping it simple is the key for us.

๐ฌ Rock is largely a question of attitude, of approach. More than age, lifestyle, fashion, etc. You don't just have to be on drugs to be rock'n'roll or play in a band. You don't have to be 17, 23... Rock'n'roll is in your head. We know quite a few people aged 60 and over who, although older than us, are in some ways much more rock'n'roll than our band !

๐ฌ What we try to do, album after album, is to produce the best music possible, to improve the quality of the songwriting, and above all not to repeat ourselves. Dependent is not really the right word in this case. We do what we're meant to do. It's just something that's essential to us. ๐
