Dear friends, today we will stop at one of London's amazing concert venues and remember one of the most beautiful, in my opinion, Placebo concerts in recent years:

The Apple Music Festival (formerly known as the iTunes Festival) was a series of music concerts hosted by Apple, Inc. inaugurated in 2007. Free tickets were provided to Apple Music, iTunes and DICE users living in the UK through localized prize draws. The show was streamed live and then available for free to Apple Music members on their Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC and Android phones. In London, the Apple Music Festival has become an annual music festival held in September at The Roundhouse in Camden Town.
In August 2015, the iTunes Festival was renamed the Apple Music Festival. The last edition of this festival took place in 2016.

Now it is probably clear to you that you could have won tickets to this show in the lottery. But it wouldn't be me not to invite you first to visit a very special place where the iTunes festival took place regularly:

"The Roundhouse is a performing arts and concert venue situated at the Grade II* listed former railway engine shed in Chalk Farm, London, England.
It was originally built in 1847 by the London & North Western Railway as a roundhouse, a circular building containing a railway turntable, but was only used for this purpose for about a decade."

And this is the text directly from the official website of this venue:
"From Victorian beginnings as a steam-engine repair shed, to the legendary music venue we know and love today, the Roundhouse is steeped in cultural history.
Having hosted performances from Jimi Hendrix, The Doors and Pink Floyd during the 60s and 70s, the Roundhouse re-opened in 2006 following a £30m refurbishment. Performances from Radiohead, Amy Winehouse, Little Simz and The Chemical Brothers have re-established the Roundhouse as one of London’s most iconic music venues and performance spaces, and we’re also available for private and corporate hire."

But let's go back to the Placebo performance at the iTunes event:
It was not the band's first concert at the Roundhouse, Placebo performed at this festival for the first time in 2009 and even then it was a hopelessly sold-out concert.

The event was also exceptional because the performance at the iTunes festival was the only Placebo performance in the UK in 2014.
So you can imagine that the interest in getting a free ticket was really enormous.

And I can share two beautiful reviews from this concert with you today. One was published in The Metropolist magazine and the other is a real pearl - it was written by a fan directly for our blog.
So dear soulmates, I wish you a pleasant reading and in the end, I will share with you the breathtaking beginning of this musical gem - the opening song "B3".
And I'm really curious which of you great fans of this page were lucky in 2014 and attended the Placebo concert at The Roundhouse, I'm really looking forward to your memories!๐Ÿคฉ

๐Ÿ“Œ"Although this was a free festival, a band over twenty years in the making must feel ecstatic that they can still fill a 1,700 capacity venue and be so warmly received. Every fan seemed enthralled and elated to be part of the experience, and that’s something we’re sure both act and audience alike took home to store in their memories. Even with a distinct lack of some perhaps more renowned numbers such as Teenage Angst, Slave to the Wage, and the rarely played yet always hopeful Nancy Boy, Placebo at the iTunes Festival 2014 did not lack in quality, professionalism or all-round enjoyment. Molko and Co. could easily have fallen into the bargain bin of Nineties alternative has beens, but we were delighted to encounter quite the opposite in a band that have maintained a unique image and profound sound to still contend with the big boys of today’s music..."

Best in advance birthday and christmas gift ever…
… or what it feels like being in the front row for Placebo’s gig at iTunes festival 2014...๐Ÿ˜
/.../ There was a lot of time to appreciate the building itself. The Roundhouse is really, really small and just beautiful (but I guess everyone who saw the streaming noticed that). In fact, it’s even smaller in real life than it seems on the videos or on pictures. I could hardly believe how small it is, how small the stage was and how close you are. I stood second row in Mรถnchengladbach and there’s no chance comparing the setup. ITunes was a completely different world and it was amazing. I couldn’t stop looking around, staring at the ceiling, at the pillars, the lights. Even the drinks were affordable compared to the bigger venues I’ve been to. We just bought one bottle of water anyway because we didn’t want to leave the barrier once we stood (or in my case sat) there. .../.../
So the small cups of water the security gave us were highly appreciated. By the way I’ve never seen something like that before on a concert. The organizers are usually too much into making money from the drinks to distribute water to the crowd. I don’t know, maybe it is common on UK festivals but it was something I noticed cause I’m just not used to it.
The winner of the cutest thing of the day award by the way goes to Cody, because he was there proudly ‘helping’ the crew ๐Ÿ˜. I think that’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my whole life, the guitars were almost bigger than he ๐Ÿ˜

The crowd was still very relaxed when the countdown started, but you could feel the excitement rising with every second. It was quiet in the beginning, but til the count of seven or six the whole venue was counting along. We had a lot of space left to dance anyway when Placebo played the first songs of their set. I was even wondering how much space there was, there was still no pushing at all (definitely a new experience for me). But on Meds, all of a sudden it felt like the whole venue exploded. Everybody started jumping and freaking out, people were pushed against us so hard, I thought I might fall over the barrier any second (I’m pretty tall). I think that was the moment the music really took over, at least on our side. I’ve seen the recording on I Tunes and to me it looks like it was just the front on the right side of the venue but it didn’t feel like that. But probably I was just too lost in music and too busy with dancing to notice what the rest of the crowd was doing. I was so lost in the moment I can’t even remember the set or anything else but total happiness (wow that sounds cheesy lol). .../.../

So all I can say is it was just perfect for me and I’d definitely do it again no matter how stressful the organization or the travelling was. And if you, or you, or you, anyone should ever get such an opportunity don’t let it slip, no matter what. No matter if you should be at work, you’re scared like I was or if everyone around you says you’re completely insane. Say f*** you and do it no matter what. And if you have to walk one billion miles on your two feet, do it. That’s all I can say."
