To promote their seventh album, Placebo have been on the road for nearly two years. Until the last show of the tour which took place at ๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ฑ๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐๐ on ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ญ๐ก, ๐๐๐๐, the band played 147 shows.

Huge arenas and small venues, festivals and intimate concerts; lots of European cities, some Asian and Australian dates, South & North American legs, Russian tour – the guys seemed to come and play everywhere!

๐ค ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง: Fans’ loyalty. For each concert, they get together and organize flash mobs. Hundreds of paper airplanes are launched onto the stage, LED sticks are lit in the dark, and balloons are inflated. What comes from them is a sense of community, deep connection with each other. And that's cool. This way, we get closer to the audience. In response to such a dedication, we want to play our concert as best as we can, to give our 100%. This allows to build mutual understanding between the listeners and us.

๐ค ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง: I don't believe that one should boycott countries because of rules and regulations," Brian says. "What I do believe in is spreading a message of tolerance, togetherness and unity everywhere we go, including Russia, Israel and Lebanon. If you boycott, the government wins, so it's great to go to political hotbeds and deliver positivity. And with experience, we have seen the potential and desire for what Placebo is all about in people - a truly positive message.

๐ค ๐๐ญ๐๐๐๐ง: If we chose the countries to play in according to our attitude to the political or social situation of this country, then we would probably play nowhere.

๐ค ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง: We're playing in smaller venues than those we normally play in," says Brian, "to create a kind of intimate ambience. We recently played in small clubs around the United States, and while the tour wasn't financially successful, it boosted our confidence. It showed we could still pull off gigs like that!

๐ค ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง: The fact that people don’t buy records anymore doesn’t make it any easier, because it forces a working musician out on the road a hell of a lot more than it did maybe 20 years ago.

If anything, the satisfaction is greater. But it’s a very nerve-wracking thing to do, because as a performer you are placing yourself in a very vulnerable position. When an audience reaches out to the band as much as the band reaches out to them, a state of collective euphoria akin to transcendence is created. Band and audience exist purely in the moment, our every-day perception of time evaporates and true synergy is achieved. This is a rare occurrence but it is what we strive to achieve every time we step out onto the stage.
