🎙️"I always wanted one," he says. "Because they were Sonic Youth guitars".

🎙️"When I was sixteen I heard Sonic Youth for the first time and they blew my head off and changed my life really and that was just as I started to play guitar. They sort of opened up so many possibilities and they acted as a sort of trampoline. I explored bands that influenced them from the Stooges the New Wave scene and through The Joy Division and The Fall and Post punk particularly and then when I was in collage I heard PJ Harvey for the first time. At that point I decided I wanted to make music that carried a similar kind of emotional weight and a similar kind of fragility and vulnerability and humanity."

🎙️"Discordant sort of theme to it, yes. It's cos I play the same guitar as they play. As soon as we got a record contract I went out and bought myself a new Jaguar."

🔸𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅?
Strumming behind the tailpiece and playing distorted harmonics has become such a part of our sound that I'm destined to use Jaguars forever for certain songs.

🎙️𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏: “[...] I never wanted to have any lessons or to be taught how to do it. I think that's very important, because if you don't learn how to play the blues then you don't play the blues. You develop your own individual musical style, and I think that is what happened.“
🔸𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒓 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏?
🎙️𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏: "Absolutely, it's always been an emotional thing. I remember having a really intense conversation with Paul from AC Acoustics about this. We were at T In The Park, banging our fists on the table, going: `For Christ sake, it's got to fucking mean something!' That's kind of how I feel. I want to make music which moves people emotionally, which has an emotional significance and an emotional weight.
As a performer. I have to place myself in an incredibly vulnerable position - I stand on stage and bleed my heart out to 2,000 strangers and I have to reap the consequences of that afterwards, whether they're good or bad. And it's fine, because if that's what I have to do for the music to be as honest as possible, then that's what I have to do.
The qualities which I attach to Placebo's music - honesty, vulnerability, fragility and humanity - are the qualities which attract people to us, because we're not hiding behind any macho posturings of rock or hiding behind irony and things like that.
I'd like to think of Placebo's music as being very real."

I must confess that this last quote is one of my favorites. I love when 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 talks about 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐's music and what he wants to transmit with it. 💗

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤?
I would definitely like to know your opinion about it, soulmates. ❤️🎶
Well, although in the last two albums "𝑩𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒏" (2009) and "𝑳𝒐𝒖𝒅 𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆" (2013) 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐 has used more other kinds of guitars, as we saw in the quote above, it is essential that he continues to use 𝑭𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 guitars to perform several 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 songs. Below, I have prepared a list - 😳 a bit long, I hope you don't mind 😁 - with some of the songs
in which 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 uses his beloved "𝑩𝒊𝒕𝒄𝒉", from the super hits like "𝑵𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝑩𝒐𝒚" and "𝑷𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈", to the ones that the band has played live a few times like "𝑴𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒚𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒏𝒚" or just once like "𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒓'𝒔 𝑮𝒐𝒏𝒆". Enjoy watching!
