Dear friends, today I will take you to the beautiful site of a medieval castle in Italy.
On July 18, 2009, Placebo performed as part of their BFTS tour at a place called 𝑪𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒐 𝑺𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒐 𝒊𝒏 𝑽𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒂 𝒅𝒊 𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒂. A beautiful medieval castle mentioned by William Shakespeare himself in a few scenes from a love story about Romeo and Juliet.

Concerts of various musical genres have been held here since 1995, in 1998 Bob Dylan performed there and in 2000 the band Coldplay at their very first Italian concert.
Placebo also played here for the first time in 2009. This concert was exceptional in Placebo's history by one very nice event:
It so happened that the support band, which was supposed to be the opening act for Placebo, could not perform. I couldn't find the name of the band or the reason why they didn't take part in the event. However, Brian solved the matter in his own way and asked a newcomer to the band, drummer Steve Forrest if he would play a few songs from his own musical work. Steve presented several songs from his side project 𝑭𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒆́ 𝑭𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒐, a band that next to him consists of friends from California and whose music goes towards country rock.

Dear Steve, although he was very nervous, accepted the offer and played as the opening act for his band!
I have not only a nice interview for you, which he gave to Italian journalists two months before the upcoming Italian concert, but also a couple of amazing shots directly from his performance, which Brian and manager Alex Weston watched from backstage.

Rockol exchanged a few words with Steve Forrest, the new member of Placebo. The American drummer, in fact, brings a breath of fresh air to a now historic core, obviously the one made up of frontman Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal, who have been together for fifteen years. Placebo are about to release the new album “Battle for the Sun” (arrives, depending on the market, from 5th to 9th June) and, next summer, they will be in Italy for two dates.
The appointments are set in Livorno (July 17, Italy Wave Love Festival) and at the Scaligero Castle in Villafranca (VR, July 18).
Forrest is Californian, and it shows, with his cheerful and friendly attitude.

-Forrest: “January? No, we actually finished it already in September. It was a long process, after recording the mixing took time, then a piece of mastering was redone, then the label sent it back. We would have liked to have it out sooner, but these are things beyond the control of the band. Although, I must say, in the end it is actually better that it comes out now: we are closer to our performances at the summer festivals, we have a new record practically for the occasion, maybe it's better this way ".

-𝑹𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒐𝒍: "𝑫𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 𝒅𝒓𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒕? 𝑫𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒉𝒊𝒎? ”
-Forrest: “Yes they talk to me about him ... Yes, I met him, it was in 2006. My band at the time supported Placebo at a concert. It was such a situation, you know, like he came out of the dressing room, I went back into the dressing room, 'ah you're Steve the drummer, ah hah, I'm Steve the drummer too.' We both laughed at it... We also went out together, very good, he's a very nice type. For the rest I can't help you much. You know that it was a kind of divorce within the band, I know the other two prefer not to talk about it and I respect their decision."

-𝑹𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒐𝒍: "𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆?"
-Forrest: “Evaline was my first real band. We all started together when we were 15 or 16, we stayed together for five or six years, then in February 2007 we separated. They actually left me. It was a very bitter thing, very very difficult. For a year I did various jobs, I took what I found, a bit of everything. Then Brian contacted me and in January 2008 I moved to London. I now live in the Shepherd's Bush area."

-𝑹𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒐𝒍: "𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒕𝒐 𝒋𝒐𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒇𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔?"
-Forrest: “It actually feels very good. It is also a bit ironic. can you tell that with my friends, before Brian called me, we were talking about something like: think if one day they ask you to join a band that has been together for a long time. And here it is. Strong, right? It's nice, also because I had the opportunity to change the sound of Placebo a little. We grow together, it's a very nice feeling.”

-Forrest: “But no, it's ok for me that you ask. Straight! I'm perfectly straight. I must say that this is absolutely not a problem. Everyone has their preferences and makes their own choices. If one goes with a man, I am absolutely not interested.”

-𝑹𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒐𝒍: "𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒘𝒆'𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆: 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅?"
-Forrest: “Yes, I have a girlfriend. She's English. In fact, half English and half Scottish."

-Forrest: “We worked in Canada, it was very good. Four months to compose the album, then two months of recordings. I think these two months have changed us, we became different when it was over, or at least it was I who changed because it was a tough experience. The fact is, we spent half a year together, we also became more friends.”

-Forrest: “Brian… well… is a band leader in many ways. He has a lot of personality. I think we can say that we are also friends.”

-Forrest: "I know the tour will start in fall, maybe as early as the end of September, I think we'll be around a lot, maybe until December".

-Forrest: “Have never been to Italy yet. Yesterday I went around Milan for a while, I saw the cathedral, the square, it's beautiful. I have many Italian fans who write to me. What do I expect? Passionate people, something exciting, something made with (he says it in Italian) 'gusto' ".
