Dear friends
today, for the series "Small Encyclopaedia dedicated to Brian Molko's tattoos, by Placebo Anyway", I'm going to tell you about another one that immediately aroused my sympathy and intellectual “closeness”, a real statement of intent: the most famous quote attributed to Galileo Galiei tattooed on the inner side of Brian's left forearm, just below the previous tattoo “This too shall pass”

“EPPUR SI MUOVE” (AND YET IT MOVES)

Of course, I am Italian just like the renowned scientist, but what aroused in me an instant feeling of empathy was rather the symbolic value of that motto, the vindication of the human faculty to find the truth through study and knowwledge.


⭐ But let's start from the beginning...
...who was GALILEO GALILEI?

Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) is considered the father of modern science and made major contributions to the fields of physics, astronomy, cosmology, mathematics and philosophy.

Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa in 1564. He entered the prestigious University of Pisa at age 16 to study medicine, but was soon sidetracked by mathematics. He left without finishing his degree (yes, Galileo was a college dropout!).

His first important discovery was describing the rules that govern the motion of pendulums.

For 20 years he was chair of mathematics at the universities of Pisa and Padua. During those years he performed the experiments with falling bodies that made his most significant contribution to physics.

In addition, he built his first telescope, and discovered four new “stars” orbiting Jupiter—the planet’s four largest moons, together with a multitude of new stars in the Milky Way.

Galileo’s observations contradicted the Aristotelian view of the universe, then widely accepted by both scientists and theologians. The moon’s rugged surface went against the idea of heavenly perfection, and the orbits of the stars he discovered violated the geocentric notion that the heavens revolved around Earth.


⭐ Galileo Galilei’s Trial:
In 1616 the Catholic Church placed Copernicus’s “De Revolutionibus,” the first modern scientific argument for a heliocentric (sun-centered) universe, on its index of banned books. Pope Paul V summoned Galileo to Rome and told him he could no longer support Copernicus publicly.

Galileo was summoned before the Roman Inquisition in 1633. At first he denied that he had advocated heliocentrism, but later he said he had only done so unintentionally. Galileo was convicted of “vehement suspicion of heresy” and under threat of torture forced to express sorrow and curse his errors.

Nearly 70 at the time of his trial, Galileo lived his last nine years under comfortable house arrest and died in 1642 at age 77.

In 1744 Galileo’s “Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems,” was removed from the Church’s list of banned books, and in the 20th century Popes Pius XII and John Paul II made official statements of regret for how the Church had treated Galileo.


⭐ What was Galileo famous for?

Galileo’s laws of motion paved the way for the codification of classical mechanics by Isaac Newton. Galileo’s heliocentrism (with modifications by Kepler) soon became accepted scientific fact. His inventions, from compasses and balances to improved telescopes and microscopes, revolutionized astronomy and biology. Galilleo discovered craters and mountains on the moon, the phases of Venus, Jupiter’s moons and the stars of the Milky Way.

💫✨ EPPUR SI MUOVE 💫✨

“And yet it moves” is the most famous line attributed to Galileo Galilei.

The “it” in the quote refers to Earth. “It moves” was a startling denial of the notion, adopted by the Catholic Church at the time, that Earth was at the center of the universe and therefore stood still. Galileo was convinced that model was wrong. Although he could not prove it, his astronomical observations and his experiments in mechanics led him to conclude that Earth and the other planets were revolving around the sun.

During his trial for suspicion of heresy, Galileo chose his words carefully. It was only after the trial, angered by his conviction no doubt, that he was said to have muttered to the inquisitors, “Eppur si muove”(“And yet it moves)”, as if to say that they may have won this battle, but in the end, truth would win out.

⭐ But did Galileo really utter those famous words?

Science historian Antonio Favaro, who dedicated four decades to the study of Galileo’s life and work, determined that the earliest mention of the phrase in print was in a book entitled “The Italian Library”, published in London in 1757, more than a century after Galileo's death.

Then was it all an invention?

It seemed so, until an intriguing painting appeared.

In 1911 Jules Van Belle, a man who lived in Belgium. claimed to own a painting dating back to 1643 or 1645 (the years following Galileos death) that contained the famous motto.

The painting showed Galileo in prison, holding a nail in his right hand, with which he had apparently traced Earth moving around the sun on the wall with the words “E pur si move” written underneath.

The discovery of the painting definitely had an impact. Until then most historians had considered the famous phrase to be a myth, but the new finding caused a number of Galileo scholars to change their minds.


Since we now know more about the history of the famous scientist and his celebrated motto, what do you guess drove Brian to carve this phrase on his left forearm?

As for me, If I had to think of one word that describes and unites the way of thinking and acting of both Brian and Galileo, it is HERESY, the same heresy for which Galileo was condemned by the Catholic Church almost 400 years ago.

I must admit that “heresy” is a word that I also love very much, and it has a deep meaning for me too.

Here is the etymology of this word, now almost never used, but instead extremely topical even today:

⭐ HERESY - In ancient Greek, the verb 'hairein,' meaning 'to take,' gave rise to the adjective 'hairetos' 'able to choose' and the noun 'hairesis' 'the act of choosing.' In time the noun developed the extended senses of 'a choice,' 'a course of action,' 'a school of thought,' and 'a philosophical or religious sect.' Stoicism, for example, was a 'hairesis.'

So heretical are those who choose. Certainly for Brian it was much easier to choose at a time when the court of the Roman Holy Inquisition finally only exists in history books!

The imagery of western religions is closely linked to concepts such as fear, punishment, warning, sin.

Something very different compared to the development of an autonomous consciousness that makes us act with respect, tolerance, love towards humanity and the world we have been given as a gift, without the fear of receiving eternal condemnation after death.

Certainly the church has made much progress in this regard in recent years, rehabilitating people who were condemned or even killed as heretical, and recognising their value and the validity of their studies and works that have contributed to the development and improvement of mankind in many areas, but there is still a long way to go...


Brian has always claimed absolute freedom of thought and action, free of any affiliation to religious faiths.

But making such a choice also means taking full responsibility for one's own actions and its consequences, for better or for worse. And he has so far proved exactly that.


Here, then, are some of Brian's statements over the years in which he has reiterated his thoughts in this regard:

📢 “I don’t believe in God, I’m not a religious person. The spiritual side that exists in everything we do is the humanity, the honesty, the passion, and our own personal truth. There’s a humanist kind of approach to things. When writing the lyrics, my approach to the characters of each song is sympathetic, and that’s what makes it human. That’s the only attitude I believe in.”

📢 Brian: Not Catholic, but very religious. I find it fascinating and it has given me a lot of metaphors that I use in my songs. The Bible is a fascinating book. It has nothing to do with real life. It was written by frustrated people who wanted to control people. It's full of metaphors, full of violence, full of sex, full of incest and so on.

And since we couldn't miss references to song lyrics in which Brian clearly expresses his views on religious institutions (Christian in this case), here are quotes from two significant songs that many many years later reiterate Brian's clear views on the matter:

📢 “Well that's one of the songs on the album that isn't really a love song. It's a kind of environment versus religion song. It's me having a go at Christians for not giving a shit about the environment basically because to them their rewards will always be in heaven and not on this earth so it really doesn't matter that we're using this place as a fucking garbage tip, you know. And when I first started writing songs I had to shake the spectre of Jesus out of me so I wrote a lot of sort of like' I'm angry about God' songs and it didn't really kind of you know I had to get that out of my system before we started the band really. 📢 Brian: “No, “Fix yourself“ is a “Fuck you“-Song. It is not about me. It is about all those lying, lousy hypocrites out there. “I am bored of your Caucasian Jesus“ is one of my favourite lines, that I’ve ever written. This song is aimed everyone who are walking around and mean that they have to spread their moralities. Starting with the church. I won‘t let a priest tell me how to live or what to think. They should start to change their own lives and own settings by themselves.“
Int:But you are not only angry about the Church?
📢 Brian:“God, no. To all. Also on these activists on social media, who are making their own god damn personal attitude to the only true one and force it to everyone else. Who do these Keyboard-fascists they are? They don’t have to tell me anything. I am a free spirit and a free thinker.“

📍In the previous chapter of this series, some soulmates commented that at 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐's intimate shows in March they had noticed that 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 had new tattoos. During the 𝑹𝒐𝒄𝒌 𝒂𝒎 𝑹𝒊𝒏𝒈 2022 live streaming, we could see them. 🔍

🕉️ 𝟏. 𝑶𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉 𝒕𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒓𝒎, 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒐𝒐𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒎 (ༀ) 𝒔𝒚𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒍.

⭐ 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠:
𝑶𝒎 (ॐ) is the most sacred syllable in Hinduism as it is the 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆. According to ancient texts before the beginning, 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒉𝒎𝒂𝒏 (𝒂𝒃𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚) was one and non-dual. He thought, "𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 , 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝑰 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚?"

This caused a vibration, which became the sound of 𝑶𝒎 and creation occurred. And it is not only the sound of the origin but also of the end. The past (𝐀), the present (𝐔) and the future (𝐌) are included in this one sound and even all of this transcends the configuration of time that is implicit in the 𝑶𝒎. It is the sound from which all other sounds emerge, the sound of the movement of the stars in the firmament, the sound that commands energy, it is the source, the sustainer and the force, the essence of all that exists and the breath of life in every being. Meditation on the 𝑶𝒎 fulfills all needs and leads to 𝒎𝒐𝒌𝒔𝒉𝒂 (𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏).

In the 𝑼𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒅𝒔 (𝑯𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖 holy books) it is said that everything that exists and what does not exist can be controlled by pronouncing this sacred syllable. Other parts of these 𝑼𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒅𝒔 associate various meanings to 𝑶𝒎, for example, that it represents the "𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒏", or something that is "𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒉𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆", "𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅", "𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒈𝒆" or "𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒍𝒆𝒅𝒈𝒆". 𝑶𝒎 is also the sound form of 𝒂𝒕𝒎𝒂𝒏, the eternal soul of each individual and its correlation with god. 𝑶𝒎 is also the representation of 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒊 ('𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒔') of 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒉𝒎𝒂, 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒏𝒖 and 𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒗𝒂, the 3 main stages of cosmic creation and the four states of the 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆 𝑩𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈. The three sounds in 𝑶𝒎 (𝐀𝐔𝐌) represent the states of wakefulness, sleep and deep sleep and the silence surrounding 𝑶𝒎 represents the "𝑻𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒚𝒂" state.

The eternal syllable 𝑶𝒎 is also called 𝒖𝒅𝒈𝒊̄𝒕𝒉𝒂́ ('𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒅 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈') or the 𝒑𝒓𝒂ṇ𝒂𝒗𝒂 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂 ('𝒗𝒊𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓', since 𝒑𝒓𝒂ṇ𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒊 or 𝒑𝒓𝒂ṇ𝒖 means '𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝒗𝒊𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒓𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒆'). It is the main basis of most of the divine texts and 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒔 of 𝒅𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒄 religions such as 𝑯𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒎 and 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒎. Early forms of 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒎 did not have much to do with this symbol, but over time this changed, especially in 𝑻𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒏 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒎, which was heavily influenced by 𝑯𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒎.

⭐ 𝐓𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠:
In 𝑻𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒏 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒎, 𝑶𝒎 (ༀ) represents "𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆", the essential mystical sound of the 𝑶𝒏𝒆-𝑨𝒍𝒍. It is the first syllable of the 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂 𝑶𝒎 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒊 𝑷𝒂𝒅𝒎𝒆 𝑯𝒖𝒎 (ॐ मणि पद्मे हूँ), words that in 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒌𝒓𝒊𝒕 translate "𝒐𝒉, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒕𝒖𝒔 𝒋𝒆𝒘𝒆𝒍!". In 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒎 the 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂 is represented with a lotus flower, composed of 6 petals and the meaning of each petal are the six syllables of the 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂. It is considered by 𝑻𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒏 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒌𝒔 as one of the essential 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒔 of 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒎, since it contains all the teachings of 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒂, and for this reason it is also one of the best known 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒔 in the world. When this 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂 is recited aloud or in inner silence, 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒆𝒛𝒊𝒈, who is the 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒂 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏, is invoked. Also, observing the written version of the 𝑶𝒎 produces an effect of attracting 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒆𝒛𝒊𝒈's blessings. In the 𝑶𝒎 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒊 𝑷𝒂𝒅𝒎𝒆 𝑯𝒖𝒎, 𝑶𝒎 represents the control of the ego over the mind. Each syllable is a 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂 in itself and each has one projection in the light and one in the dark, which purify the body, speech and mind. According to 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒕 beliefs, by repeating it, it connects with universal love and it is possible to reach 𝒏𝒊𝒓𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒂 by developing the six 𝒑𝒂̄𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒂̄𝒔 or transcendental virtues: generosity, discipline, patience, tolerance, concentration and wisdom.

💗 𝟐. 𝑶𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒇𝒕 𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒓𝒎 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒐𝒐𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒌𝒓𝒊𝒕, the sacred language of 𝑯𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒎, the phrase अहमस्मि योधः (𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒎 𝒂𝒔𝒎𝒊 𝒚𝒐𝒅𝒉𝒂ḥ) that means "𝑰'𝒎 𝒂 𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒓" or "𝑰'𝒎 𝒂 𝒇𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒓 ". A phrase that speaks a lot in itself and there is no doubt that 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏

has been one. In an interview published in the 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒉 magazine 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑰𝒏𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒖𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒔 in May 2009, 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 told part of his struggle with depression and addictions:

🎤“[...] It was my answer to success, I invented a character very confident, brash, yelling - that was an exaggeration of myself. A circus freak and a party freak... It is a way to stop feeling anything, to deceive my lack of confidence, the hate of myself... And also part company with a chronic depression that follows me since adolescence. Because if I could speak through songs, I was unable to do it everyday ... But I had to finally kill this character, to face it. It took place shortly after the recording of Meds, which was a veritable orgy of drugs and abuse - this was the way we draped ourselves in the veil of denial, refusing to see that Placebo was not doing well ... I was totally addicted to drugs and alcohol, I went to a clinic to heal (silence) ... Four days after I left the hospital, I went on tour. In solidarity, Stefan has also stopped to drink, it was the first time we were touring sober, it was terrifying… It exacerbated my discomfort:

I was on stage, in front of dozens of people with my face on their T-shirt, who were screaming "I love you" while I hated myself. I wanted to shout to them : "You would not like me if you knew me …"

🎤"Twin Demons, the original germination of Twin Demons it started in a yoga class, and I was and this yoga teacher said to me, ‘your monkey mind is drunk and bitten by a scorpion and possessed by demons’ and said, it's an old, old Hindu or Buddhist koan or saying and it just sort of that just landed. It just landed so solidly in my head. And so its lyrics that I had earmarked for a very, very long time and finally, I got the opportunity to use them. My first yoga inspired song about addiction, naturally, the twin demons of addiction and depression."

Surely it has not been easy for 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 to deal with all that, however he has managed to get through it and by telling his experience he can inspire hope and strength to many people who are going through the same things, so that they realize that despite everything, it is possible to have a healthier and fuller life. 🙏💗

I was 25 years when a doctor finally diagnosed my depression. As you can see in the quote above, art has been key in 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏's life to free his soul from all that suffering and negative emotions through his lyrics, music and voice. Something that coincides perfectly with the meaning of the last tattoo I will tell you about today.

💠 𝟑. In the most recent pictures of 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐, surely many of you have already noticed that the tattoo that 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 had of the 𝑺𝒐𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒚 𝒔𝒚𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒍 has been transformed, so its meaning also changed and now this design in the 𝑯𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖 tantric tradition represents 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒂, the 𝒇𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒉 of the 𝒔𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒓𝒂𝒔.

The 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒓𝒂𝒔 are spinning wheels of energy that run along the spine from the coccyx to the top of the head.

The 𝒇𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒉 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒓𝒂 is the energetic center of expression of our true self, creativity, communication and inner voice. Its power lies in your language and the language of 𝑮𝒐𝒅 being the same. Often, the sixteen lotus petals are inscribed with the sixteen 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒌𝒓𝒊𝒕 vowels: the vowels are presented because they compose the "𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒏 𝒔𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒆" of the words, just as 𝑨𝒌𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒂 is the open space in the universe and in the center a blue space representing the 𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒗𝒂 (𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆) of the ether, its associated element, which according to 𝒚𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒄 𝒔𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆, constitutes the communicating medium of the different levels of existence, i.e. the sound, as well as 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒗𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒆.

Its name in 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒌𝒓𝒊𝒕 is 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒂 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒓𝒂 (विशुद्ध चक्). 𝑺𝒉𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒊 translates as "𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒆", and 𝑽𝒊 reinforces the word; therefore, 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒂 means "𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒆",

for this reason this 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒓𝒂 is also 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒌𝒚 𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆 𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒒𝒖𝒐𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆, as this color is associated with 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 and also with honesty and trust which are fundamental for healthy communication which is precisely the goal of this 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒓𝒂.

Being located at the base of the throat, it is the connection between the mind and the heart, between instinct and reason, between feeling and intuition. It is the entrance to the miraculous and mysterious, it is, in addition to the capacity of expression of the spoken word and the other forms of language we possess (corporal, symbolic, written, artistic), 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅.

For this very reason, 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒚 belongs to the 𝒇𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒉 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒓𝒂, as it implies a form of elevated consciousness, where there is a momentary transcendence of the ego and where existence acts through us. Me gusta mucho este tema, primero, porque soy muy curiosa y segundo porque creo que los tatuajes dicen mucho de la personalidad y de la filosofía de la persona que los porta. Entonces, me parece muy interesante descubrir los significados de estos símbolos y conocer un poco más sobre nuestro querido 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 a través de ellos. Bueno, empecemos! 😃🧐

🕉️ 𝟏. 𝑬𝒏 𝒍𝒂 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂 𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒛𝒐 𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒐, 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒆 𝒉𝒂 𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒅𝒐 𝒆𝒍 𝒔𝒊́𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒍𝒐 𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝑶𝒎 (ༀ) 𝒕𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒐.

⭐ 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐨:
El 𝑶𝒎 (ॐ) es la sílaba más sagrada en el 𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒎𝒐 ya que es el 𝑺𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒅𝒐 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐. Según los textos antiguos antes del comienzo, el 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒉𝒎𝒂𝒏 (𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒅 𝒂𝒃𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒂) era una y no-dual. Pensó, “𝒖́𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒐 𝒒𝒖𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒚, ¿𝒑𝒖𝒆𝒅𝒐 𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒓 𝒂 𝒔𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒔?” Esto causó una vibración, que se convirtió en el sonido del 𝑶𝒎 y se produjo la creación. Pero no sólo es el sonido del origen sino también del fin. El pasado (𝐀), el presente (𝐔) y el futuro (𝐌) están incluidos en este único sonido e incluso todo esto trasciende la configuración de tiempo que está implícita en el 𝑶𝒎. Es el sonido del que emergen todos los demás sonidos, el sonido del movimiento de las estrellas en el firmamento, el sonido que ordena la energía, es la fuente, el sostén y la fuerza, la esencia de todo lo que existe y el aliento de vida en cada ser. La meditación en 𝑶𝒎 satisface todas las necesidades y lleva al 𝒎𝒐𝒌𝒔𝒉𝒂 (𝒍𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒐́𝒏 𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍).

En los 𝑼𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒅𝒔 (libros sagrados 𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒔) se dice que todo lo que existe y lo que no, puede ser controlado al pronunciar la sílaba sagrada. Otras partes de estos 𝑼𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒅𝒔 le asocian varios significados al 𝑶𝒎, por ejemplo, que representa el "𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒂́𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒂́ 𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝒔𝒐𝒍", o algo que es "𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒔𝒐 𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆", "𝒂𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒏 𝒍𝒐 𝒒𝒖𝒆 𝒖𝒏𝒐 𝒔𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒂", "𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒋𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒐" o "𝒆𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒐". 𝑶𝒎 es también la forma sonora del 𝒂𝒕𝒎𝒂𝒏, el alma eterna de cada individuo y su correlación con dios. 𝑶𝒎 también es la representación de 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒊 (‘𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒔’) de 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒉𝒎𝒂, 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒏𝒖́ y 𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒗𝒂, las 3 etapas principales de la creación cósmica y los cuatro estados del 𝑺𝒆𝒓 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒐. Los tres sonidos en 𝑶𝒎 (𝐀𝐔𝐌) representan los estados de vigilia, sueño y sueño profundo y el silencio que rodea a 𝑶𝒎 representa el estado “𝑻𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒚𝒂”.

La sílaba eterna 𝑶𝒎 también es llamada 𝒖𝒅𝒈𝒊̄𝒕𝒉𝒂́ (‘𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒖𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒆’) o el 𝒑𝒓𝒂ṇ𝒂𝒗𝒂 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂 (‘𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒐́𝒏 𝒗𝒊𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆’, siendo 𝒑𝒓𝒂ṇ𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒊 o 𝒑𝒓𝒂ṇ𝒖 ‘𝒉𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒓 𝒖𝒏 𝒓𝒖𝒎𝒐𝒓 𝒗𝒊𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆’). Es la base principal de la mayoría de los textos y 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒔 divinos de las religiones 𝒅𝒉𝒂́𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒔 como el 𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒎𝒐 y el 𝒃𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒎𝒐. Las primeras formas de 𝒃𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒎𝒐 no tenían mucho que ver con este símbolo, pero con el tiempo esto cambió, especialmente en el 𝒃𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒎𝒐 𝒕𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒐, que fue muy influenciado por el 𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒎𝒐.

⭐ 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐨:
En el 𝒃𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒎𝒐 𝒕𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒐, 𝑶𝒎 (ༀ) representa "𝒍𝒂 𝒕𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒅 𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐", el sonido místico esencial del 𝑼𝒏𝒐-𝑻𝒐𝒅𝒐. Es la primera sílaba del 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂 𝑶𝒎 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒊 𝑷𝒂𝒅𝒎𝒆 𝑯𝒖𝒎 (ॐ मणि पद्मे हूँ), palabras que en 𝒔𝒂́𝒏𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒐 traducen "¡𝒐𝒉, 𝒍𝒂 𝒋𝒐𝒚𝒂 𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒐𝒕𝒐!". En el 𝒃𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒎𝒐 el 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂 está representado con una flor de loto, compuesta por 6 pétalos y el significado de cada pétalo son las seis sílabas del 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂. Es considerado por los 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒋𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒔 como uno de los 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒔 esenciales del 𝒃𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒎𝒐, pues en él se encuentran condensadas todas las enseñanzas de 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒂 y por eso mismo, es también uno de los 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒔 más conocidos en el mundo. Cuando se recita este 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂 en voz alta o en silencio interior, se invoca a 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒆𝒛𝒊𝒈, que es el 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒂 𝒅𝒆 𝒍𝒂 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒐́𝒏. También quedarse observando la versión escrita del 𝑶𝒎 produce un efecto de atracción de las bendiciones de 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒆𝒛𝒊𝒈. En el 𝑶𝒎 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒊 𝑷𝒂𝒅𝒎𝒆 𝑯𝒖𝒎, el 𝑶𝒎 representa el control del ego sobre la mente. Cada sílaba es un 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂 en sí mismo y cada una tiene una proyección en la luz y otra en la oscuridad, las cuales purifican el cuerpo, el habla y la mente. Según las creencias 𝒃𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒔, al repetirlo, conecta con el amor universal y es posible alcanzar el 𝒏𝒊𝒓𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒂 al desarrollar las seis 𝒑𝒂̄𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒂̄𝒔 o virtudes trascendentales: la generosidad, la disciplina, la paciencia, la tolerancia, la concentración y la sabiduría.

अहमस्मि योधः (𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒎 𝒂𝒔𝒎𝒊 𝒚𝒐𝒅𝒉𝒂ḥ) que significa "𝑺𝒐𝒚 𝒖𝒏 𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒓𝒐" o "𝑺𝒐𝒚 𝒖𝒏 𝒍𝒖𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒓". Una frase que dice mucho en sí misma y no hay duda de que 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 lo ha sido. En una entrevista publicada en la revista 𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒂 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑰𝒏𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒖𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒔 en mayo de 2009, 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 contó parte de su lucha contra la depresión y las adicciones:

🎤"[...] Fue mi respuesta al éxito, me inventé un personaje muy seguro de sí mismo, descarado, gritón... que era una exageración de mí mismo. Un freak del circo y de la fiesta... Es una forma de dejar de sentir nada, de engañar mi falta de confianza, el odio a mí mismo... Y también separarme de una depresión crónica que me persigue desde la adolescencia. Porque si podía hablar a través de las canciones, era incapaz de hacerlo todos los días... Pero tuve que matar finalmente a este personaje, para enfrentarlo. Tuvo lugar poco después de la grabación de Meds, que fue una verdadera orgía de drogas y abusos - así nos cubrimos con el velo de la negación, negándonos a ver que Placebo no iba bien… Era totalmente adicto a las drogas y al alcohol, fui a una clínica para curarme (silencio)... Simplemente aterrizó tan sólidamente en mi cabeza. Así que es una letra que tenía reservada desde hace mucho, mucho tiempo y finalmente, tuve la oportunidad de usarla. Seguramente no ha sido nada fácil 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏

lidiar con todo eso, sin embargo él ha logrado salir adelante y al contar su experiencia puede inspirar esperanza y fuerza a muchas personas que están pasando por lo mismo, para que puedan darse cuenta que a pesar de todo, es posible tener una vida más sana y plena.


🎤"No es hipocondría, sólo tengo que tomar medicamentos para curar mi depresión. Durante mucho tiempo, cuando era adolescente, viví con este dolor que no tenía nombre. Tenía 25 años cuando un médico finalmente me diagnosticó la depresión. Personalmente, mi favorito es el 𝑶𝒎 porque ese símbolo me fascinó desde la primera vez que lo ví y aún más cuando supe su significado. Definitivamente éste símbolo es algo que yo me tatuaría. Así que, me alegré cuando ví que 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 también se sintió atraído por este símbolo y decidió grabarlo en su piel. 🕉️💜

🚩𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 también se ha tatuado la frase en 𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒐 "𝑬𝒑𝒑𝒖𝒓 𝑺𝒊 𝑴𝒖𝒐𝒗𝒆" en su antebrazo izquierdo, pero nuestra querida 𝑬𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒆𝒍𝒂 nos contará sobre eso muy pronto, no se lo pierdan. 😉

💫⭐ 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐌𝐎𝐋𝐊𝐎'𝐒 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐎𝐎𝐒 ⭐💫

A few days ago 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 posted a video on their social networks where 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐 and 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍 autographed a promotional poster of their new album "𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑳𝒆𝒕 𝑴𝒆 𝑮𝒐", which looks fabulous no doubt,🤩 but what also caught the attention of many of us is that we could see on 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏's arms 𝟑 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐬!!

It seems that he didn't get these tattoos a long time ago because neither in the promotional photos of the new album, nor in the covers of the singles, nor in the videos he had them. So in our curiosity, we did some research 🕵️ and today we'll tell you what we find about them. 😉

💟 𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐎𝐎 𝟏: 𝐁𝐎𝐖𝐈𝐄 𝐋𝐨𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 ✨

Let's start with a very special tattoo. On 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏's right inner forearm just above his sobriety symbol tattoo, you can see the bits of stars that form the name "𝑩𝑶𝑾𝑰𝑬" and that appeared on the cover of 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑩𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒆's latest album "★" (𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓) released on January 8, 2016. The artwork of the album was designed by 𝑱𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒌 and below you can read a bit of the story behind this design told by himself.

🔹𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫? 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐎𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 ‘𝐜𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐥𝐞’ 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐧. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 ‘𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞’ 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 – 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭?
🎙️ 𝑱𝑩: We are, wherever possible, using the ★ for the title. The original idea came out of discussions with Bowie about ways of representing the album, so this is very much his creativity and his direction. But the discussion was partly prompted by a conversation I had with William Burroughs when I met him, which I have told a thousand times for namedrop effect, but did actually finally give me something usable for this project 25 years later.

I asked him about the future of typography and he said that letterforms would go back to hieroglyphs, similar to the ancient Egyptians. You can actually see it happening with the emoji, they are becoming very common with people creating whole narratives out of them, as well as using them in everyday communication. Will there be a time when we use only these to express thought?

Back to this album though – it was a way of being as minimal with the title as we were with the design and in doing so making it stand out from all of the other stuff you see around you. It was also calculated to work in all different kinds of technologies as it is a recognised Unicode character.

We also have the logo of his name which is an extension of this. There were one or two people at the record company who were nervous about this but I do believe legibility is about familiarity – and once you get used to it you can only read it as ‘Bowie’. This was a painful many hours of working to try to get his name to be legible enough, but not too legible, to read it straight away. I tried many different stars and endless combinations for this one, but I think this has the right balance. There is a hint of the glam David Bowie here. I know it’s just a logo of bits of stars, but I think it is important to have a little of Bowie’s past in it.

In terms of my own work, there has been a playing out of the absolute forms: square – The Next Day; circle – Clockwork Orange cover; and now the star for this album. It wasn’t planned but I think there is something about basic shapes and the way they resonate in the subconscious. If somebody has any projects that need a triangle on up front, I would be very happy to hear from them.
▪️𝙹𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚗 𝙱𝚊𝚛𝚗𝚋𝚛𝚘𝚘𝚔, 𝙲𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚁𝚎𝚟𝚒𝚎𝚠 𝙱𝚕𝚘𝚐, 𝙽𝚘𝚟𝚎𝚖𝚋𝚎𝚛 𝟸𝟼𝚝𝚑, 𝟸𝟶𝟷𝟻.


Perhaps it is not so surprising that 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 got this tattoo because we all know how important 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑩𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒆 has been to 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 and they have expressed their love, admiration and gratitude to him on multiple occasions, so his death affected them very much. In recent interviews, 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 stated that this sentiment inspired their latest single "𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝑩𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝑰𝒏 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒌𝒚" and also said that "𝑶𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒃𝒚 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒊𝒎𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒂 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏", so this tattoo is a beautiful way to honor 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑩𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒆's memory and the deep mark he left on 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏. 💗


💟 𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐎𝐎 𝟐: 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 ✨

The phrase tattooed on 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏's left forearm is not fully visible in the video, but our dear 𝑺𝒊𝒍𝒌𝒆 suggested that the last word could be "𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆" and say "𝑶𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑳𝒆𝒇𝒕 𝑨𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆"
- which I think makes sense - and that it could also be a reference to the movie of the same title, directed by the famous director 𝑱𝒊𝒎 𝑱𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒄𝒉 released in 2013.


"𝑶𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑳𝒆𝒇𝒕 𝑨𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆" is a comedy-drama film about the love that has prevailed through the centuries between 𝑨𝒅𝒂𝒎 (𝑻𝒐𝒎 𝑯𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒏), a vampire and underground musician and his lover - also a vampire - 𝑬𝒗𝒆 (𝑻𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒂 𝑺𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐𝒏). 𝑨𝒅𝒂𝒎 lives in 𝑫𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒊𝒕 and is increasingly depressed by the direction humanity's actions have taken. To prevent 𝑨𝒅𝒂𝒎's world from crumbling around him, 𝑬𝒗𝒆, who lives in 𝑻𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒆𝒓, decides to go to 𝑫𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒊𝒕 to be with her beloved.

🔹𝑻𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒂 𝑺𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐𝒏, the protagonist of the film, was friends with 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑩𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒆 and she even starred in the music video of the song "𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒔 (𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝑶𝒖𝒕 𝑻𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕)" from the album "𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝑫𝒂𝒚" (2013).

🔹The title "𝑶𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑳𝒆𝒇𝒕 𝑨𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆" pays tribute to the 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝑾𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒔 science fiction novel of the same name from 1964, although the plots are totally different.



💟 𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐎𝐎 𝟑: 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐭, 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐭, 𝐨𝐫 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐨𝐦 ✨

On 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐's right arm we see that he has tattooed an 𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒕, also known as the 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒕 or 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒅𝒐𝒎 which in 𝑻𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒏 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒎 is one of the most complex symbols to understand as it has several meanings. It mainly symbolizes the interrelation between the spiritual, time and the eternal, the infinite wisdom, the heart and compassion of 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒂 for all living beings as well as his omnipresence.


Although its origin is not very clear, there are several theories that say that its first representations are found in the 𝑺𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒔𝒂 that adorned the chest of the 𝑯𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖 god 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒏𝒖, the deity of protection and goodness, so this symbol is known with the name 𝒔𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒔𝒂 in 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒌𝒓𝒊𝒕 and as 𝒅𝒑𝒂𝒍 𝒃𝒆'𝒖 in 𝑻𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒏 culture. The 𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒕 is one of the eight symbols of the 𝑨𝒔𝒉𝒕𝒂 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒍𝒂 that symbolize the eight offerings that were made to the 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒂 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒚𝒂𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊 when he reached enlightenment, is the union of 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒋𝒏̃𝒂̄ (𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒅𝒐𝒎) and 𝒖𝒑𝒂̄𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒂 (𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒅) symbolizing the fusion of absolute truth.


On the other hand, it is also believed that the origin of this ancient symbol may have been the icon of two serpents or dragons, a symbol of duality in many ancient cultures. Finally, the 𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒕 also represents 𝑺𝒂𝒎𝒔𝒂𝒓𝒂, which is the endless cycle of birth, death and rebirth, the 𝒌𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒄 cycle, constant change as well as clearly illustrating the interconnectedness of all beings in space and time.

𝑬𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒔 can be found in many other ancient cultures such as 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒕𝒊𝒄 and 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒆, although the forms of these knots vary somewhat from the 𝑩𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒕.

Really fascinating, isn't it? 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 has chosen very beautiful tattoos. Personally, it strikes me that one of the meanings of the 𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒕 tattoo coincides with the meaning of the two tattoos he already had because they also represent 𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆, so the search for 𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 and 𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 are very important to 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏.

We already know many things about 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐 and today, on his special day 🥳🎈💕, let's take a closer look at the two tattoos he has on his arms, which have a meaning as deep as interesting.✨

In 1998, 𝐍𝐌𝐄 magazine held a chat with the band where fans sent them many questions. This was one of them:

It took many years before 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 finally decided to get a tattoo that was completely different from his answer at the time. On May 4, 2012, 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 and 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 attended 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝑻𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒐𝒐 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒓 in 𝑳𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒏 where 𝑿𝒊𝒄𝒐 gave him his first tattoo, which is a triangle inside a circle.


💫 𝑰 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒐𝒐, 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝑰 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒚𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒐𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒚? 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒐𝒐 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖?
🎤𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏: It means a great deal to me. It’s etched into my skin, and it’s a part of me, and I’ll carry it to my grave. It’s an emblem of some kind of commitment. No matter what I do, it’ll still be a part of my identity.

🔹𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆: "Symbolizes the Twelve-Step Recovery Program of A A. The Sobriety Circle & Triangle Symbol, is the symbol used by Alcoholics Anonymous. The equilateral triangle represents the three part answer - unity, recovery and service - to a three part disease - physical, mental and spiritual, while the circle represents wholeness or oneness. The body should be triangular, stable, the mind circular, open. The triangle represents the means for generation of good energy, and is the most stable physical posture. The circle symbolizes serenity and perfection, and the source of unlimited potential. Together they represent the perfect union of mind and body. It has been used in many native cultures. The priests, medicine men and seers of antiquity regarded the circle enclosing the triangle as a means of warding off spirits of evil, and A.A.'s circle and triangle of Recovery, Unity, and Service has certainly meant all of that to those of us in recovery and much more. Love and Peace."

The adage "𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑻𝒐𝒐 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒔" became popular thanks to the 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 poet 𝑬𝒅𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝑭𝒊𝒕𝒛𝑮𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍𝒅 who included it in the fable entitled "𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒏" published in 1852, although the phrase had previously appeared in 𝑨𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 newspapers in 1839. This phrase was also used by 𝑨𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒎 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒏 in a speech before he became president of the 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔. Since then, it has been translated into several languages and we have seen it everywhere, whether in objects, street art, book titles, tattoos, etc.

But the adage "𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑻𝒐𝒐 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒔" seems to have its true origin from a medieval 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒂𝒏 legend dating back to the 9th century B.C. and narrated by ancient 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒇𝒊 poets, mainly 𝑭𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒅 𝒂𝒍-𝑫𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒕𝒕𝒂𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒖𝒓 who wrote this legend in one of his poems around the 13th century.

In the poem appears the story of a 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈 who wanted to avoid the unhappiness. To achieve this purpose, the monarch asked his wise council to create a ring that would make him happy when he was sad. Based on this request, the servants had the idea of engraving the mythical words “𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑻𝒐𝒐 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒔” on the 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈's ring. Then the old man said to him:

As it usually happens with ancient legends that over time several versions emerge, particularly in this case, most of the versions can be found in the 𝑱𝒆𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉 tradition, in which the unnamed 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈 of the 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒂𝒏 legend is often presented as 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒏.

📖 The story tells us how 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒏 lost a chess game against 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒊𝒂𝒉, his wisest servant. To give the page a lesson in humility, he ordered him to find a magic ring that could make sad men happy and happy men sad.

𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒊𝒂𝒉 began his search, but the jewel didn’t appear. Until one day, without any expectations, he arrived at a small goldsmith shop in the middle of the kingdom.Talking to the goldsmith and entrust him every detail, the old man offered to create a ring with the words “𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑻𝒐𝒐 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒔” engraved on it.

With the jewel on his hands, the servant went to meet the 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈 to show the finding. 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒏, the unbeliever from page success, was very surprised when he could contemplate the beautifully engraved piece. From that moment on, the monarch could feel the positive effect in his kingdom. But he would soon realize that even that happiness could also be something transitory.


📍As you can see, whatever the version of the legend is, the teaching is that everything passes away and nothing is forever. The phrase “𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑻𝒐𝒐 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒔” helps us to remain positive and find strength in difficult and sad times, while in times of success and happiness, it helps us to remain humble and enjoy them while they last. It's a reminder to cherish the small moments and every minute of our lives, to live in the present - something 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐 has talked about in several interviews. So wise and beautiful, isn't it?

So far 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 has not stated anything about his “𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑻𝒐𝒐 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒔” tattoo. Nevertheless, I believe the following quote can be related to the meaning of this proverb.


🎤𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏: “I see life as very bittersweet and I also believe that a lot depends on your attitude to life. My lyrics reflect this view and also the fact that I believe you have to live in a place of acceptance – that life isn’t always fair. Yes – life can be filled with joy if one is open to it but life is also invariably filled with challenges and sadness. To go through life thinking that we don’t deserve to feel sadness at any point in time is I think, a form of self-sabotage."

💝 I hope with all my heart that 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 has a very 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝒃𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒅𝒂𝒚 today and even if that happiness is fleeting as well as this day, may his future be filled with even happier days than this one. 🙏💖💕
