π The title in particular is interesting in its choice of word order, which gives a totally different meaning. We rather find the expression 'π‘βπ π ππππ ππ π‘βπ ππππππππ‘ ' or 'π‘βπ π ππππ ππ π‘βπ πππππππππ' rather than the opposite.
π In 'π‘βπ π ππππ ππ π‘βπ ππππππππ‘ ', there is no doubt that the innocent, as a person, embodies a being with a serene mind, without reproach and who finds no difficulty in finding sleep. He is the actor in the action of sleeping.
THE INNOCENCE OF SLEEP

π In 'π‘βπ π ππππ ππ π‘βπ πππππππππ', we often imagine a child sleeping peacefully. Innocence is embodied by the child not yet corrupted by the failings of human beings.
π In the case of the π·ππππππ'π ππππ, the sleeping character is obliterated. It's sleep that is brought to the fore. It's the innocent one, or rather it grants innocence, calmness to the sleeping one.

▪ The sleeper has a tormented, unhappy mind, and then only sleep would give him a respite.
▪ Or the character could be treacherous, dishonest or selfish, in which case it is the people who are the victims of his or her deviousness who would have a reprieve during his or her sleep.
π A person who is asleep is not dangerous to themselves or to others. In any case, it's clear that the title implies that sleeping lightens the mind and inspires relief to someone.
π As far as the music is concerned, being in a situation that was a thousand miles away from where I am today, the very first time I heard it, I felt the full weight of loneliness, as if I was realising something momentous, hitherto hidden in a recess of my mind. It's one of Placebo's songs that belongs to my 'life journey'. π
π Unfortunately, I haven't found any quote from the band concerning this wonderful song. Please do share one with us if you have any ! π
