🎶"𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙨…"🎶

Today we celebrate the anniversary of 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐's song "𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔", as it was released as a digital download on August 18th, 2010 although the band had already played it at the end of the previous year on their European shows.
It was subsequently included in "𝑩𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒏 𝑹𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒙 𝑬𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏'' released on September 27th, 2010. "𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔" is produced by 𝑫𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒓𝒊 𝑻𝒊𝒌𝒐𝒗𝒐𝒊̈ and 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐, mixed by 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑩𝒂𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒃𝒆 and features the 𝑳𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒏 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑮𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒍 𝑪𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒓 on backing vocals.

𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍: No matter how insignificant we may feel in this world, we still shouldn’t give up. According to Darwin, we are just machines for survival, but if we agree with this, we are just going to kill each other. I will say a trivial thing: every man in his position should make this world better, that's all. Throughout our career Brian has affected political themes, but now it’s a time to speak in a full voice. We don’t want to become a "new U2” or build publicity on this, we just try a mirror to the face of a society.

"Not so long ago, at the beginning of the new millenium, I used to frequent a small bar off the Champs-Elysées called "Le Mathis". Early one morning, as the sun began to poke its pesky head over the horizon, and over several vodka-tonics, my friends Nelly, Juri J and I began to put the world to rights, as you do. Naturally the subject turned to the war in Iraq, which I had taken to the streets of London to protest against, and we all began to get angry. In his disarmingly heavy italian accent, Juri turned to me and said: "the world is run by clowns with trigger happy hands." A light went off in my head. The next morning as i sat on the Eurostar, nursing a hangover as heavy as a loaded gun, a wave of inspiration came over me, as it does, and I began to write, the lyrics to what was to become a song vomited themselves forward fully formed and remain unchanged to this day.
By the time I reached London, all that was missing was the music. A few months later, in a serendipitous twist of fate, my friend and German Superstar DJ Timo Maas got back in touch, asking if I would be interested in working on some lyrics and perhaps singing on his new album. I found the skelleted electronic tracks he had sent me quite exiting, and I would eventually end up guesting on three album tracks. One track, however, leaped out of the stereo at me and screamed "sing over me now!". I began to mumble the words I had written that day on the train and they seemed to fit perfectly. So enamoured was I by this happy accident that I contacted Timo immediately to say that I would gladly sing on his new album, but only if he would "donate" said piece of music to the Placebo cause. Thankfully he agreed and a song was born. Now, put your hands in ze air, mütterfuckers!"

In collaboration with 𝑫𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 and 𝑨𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒔 𝑪𝒍𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒃𝒐 released a short film to accompany the song "𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔". Directed and co-written by Swede 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔 𝑵𝒊𝒍𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒏, the film tells the story of a young clown 𝑩𝒖𝒃𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒔, who witnessed his human mother and clown father murdered by a band of thugs. After running away from that traumatic event, 𝑩𝒖𝒃𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒔 must choose between honoring the biracial memory of his parents or joining a clown rebellion and avenging their death. As if the plot wasn't dark and shocking enough, the shoot location took place at the ranch of criminal 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒏 in Los Angeles, California.
The film premiered on December 8th, 2010. That afternoon, clowns from all over London picked up several journalists who had previously received an email sent by a mysterious "𝑭𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓" and were taken to a secret location (the 𝑨𝒖𝒃𝒊𝒏 𝑪𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒎𝒂) where they ate pizza as the film was screening. At the end, the clowns tied a USB stick around to their wrist and ordered them to go out and tell what they had seen. It is said that 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒐, 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝒍𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒍 and 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 were also there. However, the attendees were so scared of being surrounded by those terrible armed clowns that they didn't notice.
