Did you know that the line “the needle and your demage done” is ๐˜ข ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ง๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜•๐˜ฆ๐˜ช๐˜ญ ๐˜ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ”The needle and the demage done” from 1972 which was inspired by the heroine addiction of one of Neil's closest friends?

For Brian ”Song to say goodbye” was a letter to himself and “a way of making clear to myself the path not to take as a human being” (XFM, March 2006). In several interviews he said that he didn't want to become a Rock 'n' Roll clichรจ and that the world does not need another dead rock star (๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘’ ๐‘ž๐‘ข๐‘œ๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘  ๐‘๐‘’๐‘™๐‘œ๐‘ค).

๐ŸŽค ”It's a letter to myself, about myself. I was doing so bad then... I was in a vicious circle, I only felt sadness and anger and frustration and permanent insatisfaction. I was just never happy, never. And if there doesn't come an end to that, or if you don't even want to realise there's something seriously wrong... I had to do something to change my lifestyle, and that's why I went to India. That's where I wrote that song, it's the starting point for the record, the oldest song that's on it. Can you imagine anything worse than your best friend shouting "You are one of God's mistakes, you crying, tragic waste of skin" at you? Well, I need to tell myself that.”
(Humo, March 2006)

๐ŸŽค "The theme of “Song to say goodbye” is keeping only the best aspects of your life. It's the first track I wrote in India. I went there for a lot of reasons, one of them being to try and change my lifestyle. I wanted to make me understand that I should not become a rock'n'roll clichรฉ and that the world doesn't need another dead rock star. I've written it as a letter to myself."
(Rock Mag, April 2006)
