Dear friends of this page,
today, I want to invite you to a concert and it will not be a 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐨 at all, but a completely different ride!

Let's talk about "𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍" that our favorite band follow when they go on stage.
I got the idea for this post thanks to an interview given by Brian in 2014 before a performance 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐳 𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥.

Very interesting, don't you think?
Can you imagine what the tunning of all the members of the band looks like just before they perform in front of the audience on stage?
We can talk the most interesting about all three bands and listen to some of their songs.

♦𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝, an English rock band formed in 1985. It consists of five members led by the charismatic 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦 𝐘𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞.
They have released a total of 9 studio albums and won countless music awards.
The band often comment on the political situation in the UK, and are interested in the environment.
♦𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦 𝐘𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞 is a vegetarian because "𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑡 𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒𝑑 ℎ𝑖𝑚 𝑑𝑖𝑔𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑚𝑠 𝑜𝑛 𝑡𝑜𝑢𝑟",
♦he quit smoking because "ℎ𝑒 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑙𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑒 ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑔"
♦and he stopped drinking alcohol because he had a problem with double vision after one "𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑠𝑢𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑡" and doctors finding alcohol poisoning 😄.
♦He rejected the drug experiences straight away😂😂😂.

The band Radiohead became famous for the song
🔹"𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐩"🔹, which was released as a single in 1992, but Thom composed the song in the late 80's during his studies at university. The text expressed his feelings as a complete outsider, a man who, in order to confess his love to an admired woman, must get drunk and fall to the very bottom ...

In 1993, Yorke said of the song:

Radiohead began to hate Creep in the 1990s. They felt that the fans went to their concerts only because of this song and they stopped including it in the setlist. The song was returned to their repertoire in 2016 and Yorke admitted that he enjoys the crowd singing of extremely happy fans.

I probably have a weakness for small, smart and very creative men. For those of you who don't know, Thom Yorke, b. 1968, is still slightly smaller than Brian Molko. He measures only 5ft5 (166.4 cm).

🎵Radiohead's music is magical.🎵
It's a pure alternative form of music, rock guitars combined with imaginative electronics and the very sad howling voice of their singer, about which Brian said that Thom Yorke will never finish the word...😊

Brian doesn't seem to miss a single opportunity to go to a Radiohead gig in his busy schedule and lack of time. This is also confirmed on IG Placebo's account by one of Brian's photos, which I used to edit the pic of this post.

I chose an amazing concert from Prague from 2009, when they came to the Czech Republic for the first time and had this gig released on DVD.
Just seeing Thom dancing at a gig is an experience, a pure joy👌💗

Dear friends, today we meet again at the next part of my virtual pilgrimage for events that deepened my love for PLACEBO.

🔸𝗔𝗟𝗣𝗛𝗔, 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟱🔸
My first event today is related to a breathtaking photograph by Brian Molko taken by a prominent British photographer and Brian's friend, Helena Berg. It captures Brian's face under a layer of ice. I admit that I can't get enough of that photo.
It was one of the photographs created for a charity exhibition called 𝗔𝗟𝗣𝗛𝗔, which took place in November 2015.
To find out what actually happened in 2015, I will present an excerpt from an article on the CALMZONE website, where there is an interview with one of the ambassadors of the 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗠 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, with the English actor 𝙅𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙚 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝘽𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧:


⭐„It came about after a CALM event I’d organised in Leeds in March. Placebo kindly agreed to dedicate the Leeds show of their tour to help raise awareness of CALM, and I put together a secret after-show party in collaboration with the uni. Both Brian and Stef from the band DJ’d, and have been amazingly supportive. I was so grateful for them getting behind the charity and their continued efforts. Helena [Berg, acclaimed photographer responsible for much of rock band Placebo’s artwork during their 20 year career] had heard all about the event and CALM via Brian, and asked to be put in touch with me to discuss her ideas; she talked about getting a load of photographers together to do something for the charity, as the cause really resonated with her."⭐

...A culture where the expectation of the stereotypical ALPHA male is relentlessly reinforced...
„The predominant model of the alpha male; strong, stoic and unfeeling, still persists in popular culture and reinforces a concept of masculinity that is pervasive and insidious – one that doesn’t allow for anxiety, vulnerability or dialogue.“
„In 2014, 4,623 men took their own lives in Britain. That works out to more than 12 deaths a day, and accounts for 76% of the total suicides in the UK in 2014. In fact, suicide is the biggest killer for men under 45 in the UK.“◾

𝘈𝘓𝘗𝘏𝘈 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘹𝘩𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥-𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 - 𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘗𝘢𝘨𝘦, 𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘢 𝘉𝘦𝘳𝘨, 𝘑𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘳 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯, 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯, 𝘗𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘎𝘶𝘯𝘻𝘦𝘭 - 𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘊𝘈𝘓𝘔.


⭐To photographer and Alpha curator Helena Berg, finding out the disturbingly high rate of male suicides was a call to action.
“I was so shocked and wanted to help,” she says. “I contacted four fellow photographers and we set out to interpret different parts of the male emotional experience. We called the project Alpha to reflect the cultural pressures put upon men to live up to the stereotypical “alpha male” model ... and we concentrated on emotions that would lead a person not to speak, like anxiety, depression and loneliness."
Berg herself concentrated on feelings of isolation, by photographing men under ice and water.
“Not as a reference to drowning,” she swiftly clarifies, “but to illustrate immobilisation and the feeling of ‘being frozen’, which many depressed people experience. I used Perspex on top of the subject [Placebo’s Brian Molko] for the illusion of ice and to create photos that are haunting and tranquil at the same time.
Alpha was timed to open on International Men’s Day, says Berg, “to highlight this gender disparity issue, where three times as many men are taking their lives as women."⭐

The Placebo rarities auction was the logical result of many years of consideration by our favorites. During their career, they accumulated a lot of things in various storage spaces, to which they had a very nostalgic relationship. That's why the idea matured in their heads that it would be great to offer these treasures to their fans.
It was an amazing idea to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Placebo.


⭐„There just seemed to be an endless list of stuff we’d gathered since that day it all began in a London tube station two decades ago,” Placebo said in a press statement. “As the big ‘20 Years’ drew nearer, we thought it may be time to sift through it all before the hungry city rats got to it; see what would be worth saving from the proverbial fire. We thought to ourselves that maybe some people would even be interested in owning some of these items. Stranger things have been bought in the past; celebrity locks of hair and royal pairs of underwear have both passed under the auction hammer in recent years.
So we proceeded to scour our own personal wardrobes, our management office and the band’s own dark and dusty storage space to see what was hiding in cobweb covered corners,” the statement continued.
“Guitar pedals that we thought were lost, and posters of gigs that never happened surfaced along with gloriously roughed-up stage gear that we thought had been lost in transit to South America back in 2001. While sifting through the reams of black clothes on the wardrobe rail, out poked little forgotten classics from designers we love and pieces worn during the times we rubbed shoulders with our heroes. The dresses and denim, the leather and PVC. The rare and unseen, the signed and played, the disused pedals and rare releases were all there too. And now they are ready, ready for new homes.”⭐
𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘣𝘰 𝘧𝘰𝘳 „𝘜𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤.𝘤𝘰𝘮“ 𝘚𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 2017


⭐“They’re pretty iconic items,” Molko told NME about what’s on offer to their fans in the auction.
“For example, we have the jumper that I wore in the ‘Pure Morning’ video, we have the space suit that I wore in the ‘Special K’ video, clothes from the stage or album artwork. There’s also a lot of rarities in the form of a Japanese mini-album of the ‘Nancy Boy’ single, posters. These are clothes that we don’t wear any more and they’ve just been in a cage where we store our equipment.“


He continued: “The money is going to the Mercy Centre in Bangkok, which is a home for underprivileged children which we’ve supported for a long time. And we’re also giving money to CALM, the Campaign Against Living Miserably. They’re trying to raise awareness of male suicide among young men in the UK. The rate is really, really quite high. We need to remove the stigma surrounding depression, and one of their goals is to get more men to talk about their feelings instead of keeping it all inside and isolating one’s self – and eventually ending up with quite a tragic outcome.”


“CALM is a charity that’s close to my heart because depression is a condition which I suffer from myself,” Molko told NME.
“There are various forms of help out there.
It’s a disease like any other. Depression and addiction are both recognised by the World Health Organisation as diseases. If someone had MS or cancer, you would listen to them. There’s still a stigma attached to depression, and a lot of men in particular feel that it’s a sign of weakness to talk about it. What we’re trying to do with CALM is remove that stigma in society.”⭐

𝐋𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞 and 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 are movies mentioned by Brian as favourites in his 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒘𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒆 (https://bit.ly/2GJQ3pS) for Silver Rocket magazine.

📍𝐋𝐀 𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐄 (1995) is a French black-and-white drama film written, co-edited, and directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, starring Vincent Cassel, Hubert Koundé, Saïd Taghmaoui. The title derives from a line spoken by one of the main characters "La haine attire la haine!", "hatred breeds hatred".
𝑷𝒍𝒐𝒕
The film follows three young men during twenty-four hours of their life spent in the French suburban "ghetto." Vinz, a Jew, Saïd, an Arab, and Hubert, a black boxer, have grown up in the suburbs of Paris where high levels of diversity coupled with the racist and oppressive police force have raised tensions to a critical breaking point. During the riots that took place a night before, a police officer lost his handgun in the ensuing madness, only to leave it for Vinz to find. Now, with a newfound means to gain the respect he deserves, Vinz vows to kill a cop if his friend Abdel dies in the hospital, due the beating he received while in police custody.

📍𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐃 𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓 (1991) is an American black comedy romantic crime film written and directed by David Lynch and starring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern. It is based on the 1989 novel of the same name by Barry Gifford.
𝑷𝒍𝒐𝒕
Lula's psychopathic mother goes crazy at the thought of Lula being with Sailor, who just got free from jail. Ignoring Sailor's probation, they set out for California. However, their mother hires a killer to hunt down Sailor. Unaware of this, the two enjoy their journey and themselves being together... until they witness a young woman dying after a car accident - a bad omen.

📍𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐍 (1991) - one of Brian’s favourite films mentioned by him back in 1999.

𝑺𝑼𝑩: 𝑯𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝑻𝒐𝒅𝒅 𝑯𝒂𝒚𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈?
📢Brian: Well, you could say so because ‘Poison’ is my most favorite movie. When I got the offer, I went to audition and told him, “Just please give me any role. I need to be in your movie. I adore your works.” Then we became very good friends. Whenever we go to New York or he comes to London, we hang out. It’s really amazing to be friends with someone you admire.

𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 is an American science fiction drama horror film written and directed by Todd Haynes and starring Edith Meeks, Larry Maxwell, Susan Gayle Norman, Scott Renderer, and James Lyons.
It is composed of three intercut stories that are partially inspired by the novels of 𝑱𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒕 and include quotations from Our Lady of the Flowers, The Miracle of the Rose, and The Thief's Journal. With its gay themes, Poison became one of the most fervently debated film of the early 1990s and considered to be an early entry in the New Queer Cinema movement.
𝑷𝒍𝒐𝒕
There are three intercut stories about outsiders, sex and violence.
In "𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨," seven-year-old Richie kills his abusive father and then flies away. After the event, a documentary, made in the style of an episode of a tabloid television news magazine, in cheesy lurid colors asks what Richie was like and what led up to the shooting.
In the black and white "𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫," a gothic tale in the style of a psychotropic horror film of the mid-1960s, a scientist isolates the elixir of human sexuality, drinks it, and becomes a festering, contagious murderer. A female colleague who loves him tries to help, to her peril.
In "𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐨," a prisoner John Broom finds himself attracted to an inmate, Jack Bolton, whom he had known and seen humiliated as a youth in a juvenile facility. It is an adaptation of part of Genet's The Miracle of the Rose (1946).

📍𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐒 (1963) - a short film which Todd Haynes alludes to in his 1998 movie Velvet Goldmine.

📢"The fictitious band featuring Molko and Placebo drummer Steve Hewitt are called The Flaming Creatures; 'named after,' Molko says, 'a 1920's gay porn film.'"
(𝐺𝑢𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑟 𝑀𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑧𝑖𝑛𝑒 "𝑆𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑐 𝑌𝑜𝑢𝑡ℎ𝑠", 𝑂𝑐𝑡'98)
Well, Brian was wrong about the decade but perfectly remembered the general vibe of this short film😉

𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 is an American experimental film directed by Jack Smith that features graphic sexual imagery, an earthquake, and a lipstick commercial. This is one of the most controversial short film of all time, it contains scenes of a group of people who do things that are considered bizarre, strange and taboo, including sexual activity.
Most of the characters are sexually ambiguous, such as transvestites, intersex, and drag performers. Flaming Creatures is largely non-narrative, and its action is often interrupted by cutaways to close-ups of body parts.
Filmmaker and artist Jack Smith described his own film as a “comedy set in a haunted movie studio.”
Because of its graphic depiction of sexuality, some venues refused to show Flaming Creatures, and in March 1964, police interrupted a screening, some of the filmmakers were charged. Nevertheless, it turned to be an important point at the underground film movement.

📍𝐁𝐎𝐘𝐒 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐂𝐑𝐘 (1999) - one of the movies Brian was hugely impressed by back in 2000.

𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒎 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓?
📢"Boys don't cry" It's shocking that that kind of thing happens even today, that people can be that backward. The fact that it's a true story makes it all the more heartbreaking.
(𝐾𝑒𝑟𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑔 "𝐵𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑛 𝑀𝑜𝑙𝑘𝑜 - 𝑀𝑦 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟", 𝐷𝑒𝑐'00)

𝐁𝐨𝐲𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐜𝐫𝐲 is an American biographical film which is a dramatization of the real-life story of Brandon Teena, an American trans man, who attempts to find himself and love in Nebraska but falls victim to a brutal hate crime perpetrated by two male acquaintances.

📍𝐁𝐋𝐔𝐄 𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐕𝐄𝐓 (1986) – a movie that Brian could obviously relate to at a certain moment.
📢“If I was a film I would be: Blue Velvet”
(𝐵𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑛 𝑀𝑜𝑙𝑘𝑜, 𝐸𝑙𝑒𝑔𝑦, “𝐵𝑟𝑢𝑡”, 2006)

𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐭 is an American neo-noir mystery film written and directed by David Lynch. Blending psychological horror with film noir, it stars Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini, Dennis Hopper, and Laura Dern.
𝑷𝒍𝒐𝒕
The film concerns a young college student who, returning home to visit his ill father, discovers a severed human ear in a field that leads to his uncovering a vast criminal conspiracy and entering a romantic relationship with a troubled lounge singer.

📍𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐁𝐎𝐘𝐒 (2009) – a film that features director's thanks to Brian Molko: very nice casting encounter.

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐨𝐲𝐬 is a Luxembourg-German co-production directed by Jean-Claude Schlim, starring Loïc Peckels, Layke Anderson, Harry Ferrier.
During 2009-2011, the film won Audience Award at various LGBT International Festivals in Brussels, Rio, Melbourne, Durban.
𝑷𝒍𝒐𝒕
A glamorous, colourful story that follows the dramatic journey of Frank, a high school kid in 1984, through an exciting world of sex and music, where his passion is suddenly turned into a struggle for courage facing a new disease, AIDS, and becomes deep, true love in the expectancy of his friend's horrible death and beyond.

In 2017, an interview with Brian was published in 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭, which I would like to share with you today in a shorten version. There are some beautiful mentions that led me to the idea of writing this post.

📌 Given Placebo’s history with the press, one might think that 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐤𝐨 would be at best wary, at worst down-right hostile towards journalists. When I meet up with him prior to a rehearsal for the last leg of the band’s current retrospective tour however, any fears of a frosty reception are allayed almost immediately.
Instead this afternoon, he proves to be warm, friendly, engaging and never too far away from erupting into fits of laughter. He speaks slowly in that familial, nasal tone that gives 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐎 one of the distinct characteristics that people either adore or abhor and provides, considerate, well-thought out answers to all my questions, even being so gracious as to extend our interview not just once, but twice.

Twenty-one years have passed since the band first came into public consciousness and 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐎 are still here whilst Cool Britannia is most certainly not, replaced instead with a more overt, pervading sense of fear, bigotry and xenophobia – in 2017, we’re about as far away from the pervading mid-Nineties attitude of incandescent national pride as it’s possible to get.
𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐎 had the common sense not to ride the Britpop wave, which in 1996 was already beginning to show signs of dissipating, and have consequently remained whilst so many of their contemporaries fell by the wayside. In fact, one could argue (as Molko does) that 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐎 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 21𝑠𝑡 𝑐𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 20𝑡ℎ.

📌 It was also around this time that the band collaborated with David Bowie on a re-recorded version of the title track from their sophomore album Without You I’m Nothing, arguably the band’s most beloved and cherished record to date.

📌 Inevitably, the song has taken on a whole new meaning with a far deeper resonance for 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐤𝐨 since Bowie’s death in January 2016. In Placebo’s early days, when critics were taking seemingly every opportunity they could to make cheap swipes at the band, it was Bowie’s patronage that garnered them credibility in the eyes of a music press that were dumb enough to be disorientated by a bloke in a dress. As was his wont, Bowie took the band under his wing, making regular live appearances with them, inviting them out on tour and providing sound counsel and mentorship.

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐤𝐨 & 𝐉𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐨 - 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞

In 2011, 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐁𝐎 had the only open-air concert. The band accepted an offer from 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝘇, which celebrated the 125th anniversary of the founding of the brand's car factory in their hometown of Stuttgart, Germany, and decided to thank the city by organizing a 5-day event.
In addition to the international football match Germany-Brazil, this megalomaniac event also included 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻-𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗹𝗼ß𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘇 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗴𝗮𝗿𝘁. Admission to the show taking place on 11.8.2011 was extremely low, tickets cost only 15 EUR.

It was the first concert of Placebo band for this car manufacturer's brand, which preceded a series of concerts for Mercedes-Benz in 2012.
Brian was very much looking forward to this concert.
First, 2011 was a non-concert year for Placebo. The only two concerts were this one in Stuttgart and a smaller show at Huxley's Neue Welt Berlin two days earlier.
And second, he was really looking forward to another band tonight - 𝟑𝟎 𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐒 and his friend 𝗝𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝗼.
He really wanted to enjoy this evening and please 35,000 fans who filled the beautiful square in Stuttgart.

The two rockstar bands were supported by 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬, a band founded in 2006 in Manchester. This band was chosen for this show by Mercedes-Benz because they actively participated for several months in the 𝗠𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗽𝗲 project, a free platform for downloading music and finding newcomers from the international music scene.
By the way, the Stuttgart show was the band's first live performance outside of England.
They have this concert listed on their FB page as a top experience, and I'm not surprised.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 warmed up the fans for 30 minutes to pass them on to another band, the very warm welcomed 𝗝𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝗼 and his band 𝟑𝟎 𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐒.
However, according to all the mentions that I managed to find about this concert, this show was not one of the best.
Because of the very poor sound system, Jared's band could only be enjoyed by fans standing in the first third of the auditorium.
The fans also criticized the screens being too small, on which there was not much to see from the middle of the square, and as well as the concert for Jared's too frequent speeches and his habit of inviting fans from the nearest rows to the stage or just letting fans sing long sections of his songs.
He also forbade photographers used to stay in the so-called "photographic pit" to take photos of his performance, which led to great disappointment in these ranks.
But ... according to the footage from the concert that I found on Yt, Jared also enjoyed this gig very much, he even mentioned the band Placebo several times during it and sang a small part of the song Pure Morning.
He definitely won my heart.

Placebo for charity, part 2

Dear Soulmates, welcome to the continuation of my post from the last week. Thank you very much for your feedback, I'm happy to share with you why love for Placebo has a much deeper dimension for me than just music.

In 2009, Placebo joined many other bands and participated in a fine art auction for the No-Surrender Foundation.


⭐„No Surrender is a Charitable Trust, founded by Jason Boas in 2007, that aims to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer. Jason was a remarkable man whose life was cut short by pancreatic cancer. At only 33 years old Jason was diagnosed with what is often labelled as the impossible cancer by the medical community; but, determined and resolute, Jason strove to raise awareness of the disease and raised a laudable £150,000 for pancreatic cancer research and support. Despite his condition, Jason remained upbeat, good humoured and strong, with an unwavering drive to bring together pancreatic cancer sufferers and offer support and hope through an online network. His family and friends have continued to raise funds in Jason's memory with a variety of highly successful fundraising events.“⭐

Placebo in Chile, 2010

Placebo gave a concert in Chile two months after a devastating earthquake that hit much of the area, killing nearly 600 people. It is said that 9% of the population lost their homes and Chile suffered huge economic losses.

Stefan Olsdal, Movember 

🔸𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑🔸
From 2014 to 2015, Stefan took part in the well-known "mustache" event for the Movember Foundation.


⭐„Movember (mustache + November) is a charitable and annual gender-oriented event. The purpose of the charity is to raise funds while raising awareness of men's health. Special attention is paid to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle for men and education in the field of male diseases, such as testicular cancer and prostate cancer. Another goal of the event is to draw attention to the issue of mental health and suicide.


The annual worldwide event is visible as early as the beginning of November, when the men shave and have their mustaches grow by the end of the month.


The month-long collection of the financial contribution among friends, companies and sponsors culminates in the sending of the contribution to the account of the organization. The organization offers contributions to a specific person, group of people or as a general gift that will be used to research and fight cancer, as well as to raise awareness.“⭐

Do you still remember Leeds 2013 and Brian's NAMASTE?💗

In 2015, almost immediately after the Loud Like Love tour, Placebo began another tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its debut album release. The decision to take the March concert in Leeds again as a charity and to donate the proceeds from the concert to CALM was in their heads. Calm is an organization that Placebo has long supported. It deals with the prevention of suicides of men in the UK and the support of people undergoing treatment for depression. We know that Brian carries this lifelong burden on his shoulders and can talk about it very openly.

The Calm Foundation supported it with a wonderful idea to organize a secret afterparty DJ after the main concert of the band Placebo.

⭐„Following MJ was an appearance from Brian Molko himself. For the crowd this was a rare chance for a second glimpse of the Placebo frontman, all in one night. Their excitement at being able to do so in such a personal and intimate setting was palpable as he walked on stage.
Brian kept the crowd mesmerized with a set of electronica that traversed the light and ethereal as well as the darker heavier tones. There was an orchestrated restraint to the set that kept the tension high whilst never letting the build-up fully spill over, inducing a state of transfixion on the audience. It was a joy to hear the multitude of the singer’s influences and how this had impacted the sound of Placebo over the last 20 years, an anniversary being marked by their current worldwide tour, and a historical look back over all their material having recently made their entire back catalogue available to stream online.
Stefan Olsdal, second Placebo member of the night, gave us another insight here. His electronica took on a much more beat focused sound. There was still the swatches of sharp harmonic movement that we heard from Brian, but this time with the kind of rhythmic background that you might well expect from one half of the band’s rhythm section.“⭐
