Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of our favourite band Placebo, today we have a lovely guest from Germany. Old school fan Cecy talks with us about the last 20 years with Placebo in her live.

Placebo Anyway:  Welcome Cecy. Tell us, when did you first listen to Placebo? 20 years ago?

Cecy: My first Placebo song was Every me and Every You, so the lovestory started 1999 I guess.

Placebo Anyway: What was so special about the band for you to become a fan?

Cecy: I loved Brians voice and Placebo´s music was something new for me, something I fell in love with immediately.

Placebo Anyway: How have you lived the last 20 years with the band and their music?

Cecy: Placebo have always been one of my favourite bands, that never changed during the years. I was always awaiting their new albums and they never disappointed me. There has always been one special Placebo song describing my feelings and recent situation so much and my passion for the old songs never decreased. Placebo and me grew from rebellious kids to adults together, I hope we are still cool ;).

Placebo Anyway: You have been with the band from the beginning have you gone to all the concerts in your country? Some abroad?

Cecy: I tried to see Placebo every time they came to my hometown Hamburg. Most gigs were part of festivals in Germany. I think I should have travelled more to see them in other cities or countries, I so much regret it!

Placebo Anyway: Our favourite band is on tour again. We were enjoying the biggest UK & Irish tour Placebo ever had and now we are looking forward to the upcoming summer shows..  Have you been to any of these 2015 shows?

Cecy: No, I haven´t. I was thinking about going to UK and take part of the tour many, many times. I am so much counting on the 20 years anniversary tour and their gig in Hamburg!

Placebo Anyway: Compared to the gigs from other years, what did change for you?

Cecy: For me the band became more professional and somehow more distant to the crowd. Nevermind, I still love their gigs.

Pacebo Anyway: What about the boys' energy nowadays on stage?

Cecy: At the very beginning Brian overdid the whole thing in the beginning. Nowadays Placebo are energetic on stage and their songs rock, but they do not jump and shout like kids anymore.

Placebo Anyway: When you get to the point where you realize that this particular gig is really kind of magic...Or every Placebo concert is unforgettable and unique experience for you anyway?

Cecy: Placebo itself means much to me, I feel grateful for every gig. Of course it is more magic catching you in the first row…

Placebo Anyway: Did you ever met the band before or after a gig?

Cecy: Never.

Placebo Anyway:  The tour started with a new tour drummer. How was for you the moment you read on the social networks about Steve Forrest leaving Placebo?

Cecy: I know Placebo works because of the people the band consists of, but for me Placebo is mainly Brian Molko. I appreciate the work of the other band members, but to be honest I never felt any strong connection to the other boys. But when I read about Steve Forrest leaving I realized I really liked him, he was the most normal part of the band, close to the fans and not that hard to reach – at leasts that’s the feeling he gave to me.

Placebo Anyway:  Would you like to see Matt Lunn (old Placebo friend and drummer of Colour of Fire)  as an official drummer? Or do you prefer  the idea of Brian & Stefan being the only official members now of Placebo or do you wish for them to have an official drummer in the future?

Cecy: As I said before Brian is the centre of Placebo for me. Stefan has always been the second constant member… Probably an official drummer will be good choice to make the bandwork easier. I am sure they will make the right decision.

Placebo Anyway: Do you have all their albums?  Do you have any special collection? Vinyls, singles, dvd’s....?

Cecy: I own all their albums (German releases) and the soulmates dvd. I really wanna enjoy their music and gigs, but I don’t need to collect every single special edition – though the longing for it exists. Due to my Brian obsession I own his recent book.

Placebo Anyway: Which song makes you feel closer to the band?

Cecy: As I told you before, I have had so many songs accompanying me during most years of my life. Maybe Every Me Every You is my feel close to Placebo song, because this was the first song of the band I knew.

Placebo Anyway: Do you see any difference between the fans from the beginning and the fans from nowadays?

Cecy: Of course, people being teenagers or young adults 15 years ago were different from those people today. But the old fans still follow the band…

Placebo Anyway: Is there a stereotypical Placebo fan?

Cecy: No, there are all kinds of people, but to give you an idea of what I realize at every Placebo gig is: female, loving rock music, self-destructive, loving Nancy Boys (maybe feeling like one in a very weird way somewhere inside), emotional. Don´t get me wrong, I like that stereotype of Placebo fan!

Placebo Anyway: What do you think about "Soulmates Never Die". Is this true?

Cecy: So true! But be carefull who you count as your soulmate…

Placebo Anyway: In your opinion, what unifies Placebo fans. What is the glue that puts them together?

Cecy: We have that never ending longing for Placebo-magic, for those emotions they make us feel.

Placebo Anyway: How do you see the evolution of the band on a musical way?

Cecy: Kids became adults… There has always been a meaning in the songs, but nowadays it might be more philosophic and not as provoking as 20 years ago.

Placebo Anyway: Which difference do you see in Brian when you look back and compare it with how he is nowadays?

Cecy: I suppose the musical way somehow described Brian´s way.

Placebo Anyway: What would you ask Brian Molko from 1996?

Cecy: Boy, what´s your problem? Let´s have a shot or two and just talk about all this so important stuff.

Placebo Anyway: What would you ask Brian Molko in 2015?

Cecy: Do you think you are grown up and why? Does it feel good?

Placebo Anyway: What would influence your questions?

Cecy: I would like to know if we share some thoughts and I would like to know who the real Brian Molko is.

Placebo Anyway: Many bands from the 90's are turning 15 , 20 years what do you think makes Placebo so different?

Cecy: It is just their style…

Placebo Anyway: Now imagine you could give Brian and Stef a Thank You gift for the wonderful last 20 years with the band. Which gift would you choose?

Cecy: As I don´t know them as private persons I don´t know.

Placebo Anyway: 20 Years to go...what is your wish for the next 20 Placebo years?

Cecy: I hope they won´t stop, won´t lose their energy and faith in music, maybe be a little closer with their fans. I just wanna have 20 more Placebo years.

Placebo Anyway: Coming to the end of the interview, please define Brian, Stefan and Placebo as a band with 3 words.

Cecy: Inadequate (not in a incomfortable way), charming, constant

Placebo Anyway: Thank you for the interview Cecy.

* Cecy is looking for other Placebo fans from Germany, over all from Hamburg. So contact her for a meeting and sharing the best Placebo moments together.!!!
