These three gems I want to talk about are unique because of Brian's talent, where he uses his singing in just the right way to elevate each of these songs to the highest level. Plus, we have two songs that are recorded in two versions, which is just something that pleases my ears again.

The very first song and such a gem.
I'm talking about the slow version, of course, even though the original fast rock version is just amazing.
𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐄 -𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧...
Unfortunately, this song was never performed live either.
When you hear the verse ⭐"...𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦"⭐ for the first time, it's pure perfection put into a unique voice.

Brian's voice makes this song something absolutely tender, soft, something that wraps you in angelic wings and you wish it would never end.
At least that's how this song makes me feel.

The lyrics could support teenagers in their difficult time when they are trying to draw attention to their uniqueness.
It's a time when everyone feels the need to be more or less a rebel, to stand up for themselves.

But this song can also be understood from the other side - at the moment when a young person joins a group of other rebels and tries to impress others there, so as not to stand out from the crowd, then it is appropriate to use exactly that verse - ⭐"𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞".⭐

But this song lovingly suggests to each of us to reflect on our lives.
To what extent am I being myself and to what extent am I trying to behave in a way that fulfills others' idea of me?
I leave that reflection to you.

I lived most of my life to please everyone around me...mother, husband, children, boss at work...
Until I got seriously ill and it made me realize where my uniqueness had been lost.

Rebel anarchist in my youth, but suddenly I didn't recognize myself...
Yeah, that was a tough test.

It was only then that the lyrics of this song took on the right meaning for me. I can honestly say for myself that Placebo really is therapy. Because such songs are meant to make you think.

So to be clear, the version that is on the 𝐒𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 album is not the original version because Jim Abbiss needed to change the rhythm of the song from a waltz to a four beats. And thanks to this, we can now enjoy two lullabies instead of one!

Take a listen to the version '𝐈'𝐥𝐥 𝐁𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬' that was eventually released as the ninth song of the 𝐒𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 album. You'll hear the onset of Steve's drums first, joined by the dark sound of Stefan's guitar.
Even this beginning is a foreshadowing that this is no romantic sweet lovesong.

To me, this song is an expression of the cruel boundless dependence of one person on another.
But be warned - it's not the tormented tone of Without You I'm Nothing song, it's not the dog's eyes full of desire to be noticed by the other person.
These are dark threats, just whatever you do, I'll lovingly hold you in my arms so you can't breathe.

For me it's like -

I'll be your water, I'll clear your thoughts and I'll keep a good eye on you so you don't escape.
I'll be your anchor, I'll hold you so you never leave these shores.
I'll be your drug, the demons don't stand a chance because you have me.

I'll be your everything, but don't you dare look anywhere else. It's me, I'm all you need. Nobody else. And you have no choice but to believe it and surrender.

I imagine it can extend to idolizing a famous celebrity... All he thinks about every day is that the object of his desire he worships can't be happy with anyone but him.

It's about self-degradation, total humiliation at any cost.

I have personally experienced several times a situation when I looked up in love to some important person from my surroundings, and in that moment, when your hormones are totally controlling you and every cell is screaming for his or her arms, it's pretty hard to handle the emotions.

It meant a lot of despair and crying nights for me...

Fate often tests us hard, how far we are willing to go, what humiliation we are able to achieve, just to be noticed by that person.
