Today we celebrate the ♦️๐—”๐—ก๐—ก๐—œ๐—ฉ๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—ฆ๐—”๐—ฅ๐—ฌ♦️ of "๐™๐™๐™š ๐™ข๐™š๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™ž๐™˜ ๐™จ๐™ฎ๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ข", a collaboration between Brian and ๐˜›๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ฉ ๐˜—๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ฆ, a music project by French record producer and DJ ๐˜‹๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ช ๐˜›๐˜ช๐˜ฌ๐˜ฐ๐˜ท๐˜ฐ๐˜ช̈. The single came out 18 years ago today on February 24th 2003 and included the original track, two remixes and the video. But the first release of the song was four months earlier, on October 15th 2002, on the only Trash Palace album "Positions".

”The metric system” tells the story of a guy who lives in Los Angeles and sells his sperm to celebrity lesbians, so they can have children.
A strange plot, isn't it? But Brian really enjoyed working on the song. In an interview with French magazine “Les Inrockuptibles” he said that it was big fun for him. "Dimitri is my buddy. We have the same sense of humour, porn makes us laugh. What is strange is that people, the media, everybody took us very seriously," he added.

On the album "๐˜—๐˜ฐ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด" you can also find another collaboration: Brian sings the Serge Gainsbourg cover "Je t'aime, moi non plus" together with Italian actress and singer Asia Argento. She later played a role in the music video of Placebo's song "This picture". It's also worth mentioning the fact that Trash Palace founder Dimitri Tikovoi is not only a close friend of Brian but also produced the band's album “Meds” in 2006 and several of the band's early singles.

"The artist in question is a French named Dimitri, whose nickname is The Vibrator. He made an electronic record in French about pornography on wich I figure as well as John Cale, Jean-Louis-Murat. We wrote texts for Dimitri. I wrote one a la William Burrough.
It is the story of a guy who lives in Los Angeles and who sells his sperm to celebrity lesbians so they can have children: that's the story. But it was very interesting to work on this record because it's a kind of music that is very different from what we do usually, and I love this kind of music."

"When I worked with Placebo, I had Brian Molko listen to a song, asking him if he would work on it with me. He found the project very interesting. He said "Great! It's about sex! I want to do something like that too" and we did the song Metric system."
