‎Trigger Happy Hands - Placebo

"Not so long ago, at the beginning of the new millenium, I used to frequent a small bar off the Champs-Elysรฉes called "Le Mathis". Early one morning, as the sun began to poke its pesky head over the horizon, and over several vodka-tonics, my friends Nelly, Juri J and I began to put the world to rights, as you do. Naturally the subject turned to the war in Iraq, which I had taken to the streets of London to protest against, and we all began to get angry. In his disarmingly heavy italian accent, Juri turned to me and said: "the world is run by clowns with trigger happy hands." A light went off in my head. The next morning as i sat on the Eurostar, nursing a hangover as heavy as a loaded gun, a wave of inspiration came over me, as it does, and I began to write, the lyrics to what was to become a song vomited themselves forward fully formed and remain unchanged to this day.

By the time I reached London, all that was missing was the music. A few months later, in a serendipitous twist of fate, my friend and German Superstar DJ Timo Maas got back in touch, asking if I would be interested in working on some lyrics and perhaps singing on his new album. I found the skelleted electronic tracks he had sent me quite exiting, and I would eventually end up guesting on three album tracks. One track, however, leaped out of the stereo at me and screamed "sing over me now!". I began to mumble the words I had written that day on the train and they seemed to fit perfectly. So enamoured was I by this happy accident that I contacted Timo immediately to say that I would gladly sing on his new album, but only if he would "donate" said piece of music to the Placebo cause. Thankfully he agreed and a song was born. Now, put your hands in ze air, mรผtterfuckers!"
