Brian Molko: Placebo my family. Now we are a live band who are in the search for quality

Brian Molko: Placebo my family. Now we are a live band who are in the search for quality Interview by Marco Molendini.

Success is not enough. Brian Molko, leader, guitar player, and singer of Placebo, a band whose story was built upon energy and power, explains it in a simple way: "It's possible to be admired and be depressed " and adds: "there are many rock stars who had suffered this disease, sometimes, like in Kurt Cobain’s case the disease is dealt with drugs. The problem is to understand that it is a medical issue, meaning that the brain lacks the balance produced by serotonin if you identify the problem, like in my case, you can solve it or at least you face it. As for me it was as a reaction against success and to hide the lack of confidence that I invented this exaggerated character, very confident but also very fragile. And I ended up addicted to drugs and alcohol. Then I understood that I wasn't crazy but that I had an illness that is very common in artists who look for approval and that are very complicated. Sometimes the feeling of discomfort it is not due to struggling with fame but by family issues. Like in the case of this musician who lives in America but has a British nationality. He has lived in Luxemburg and was born in Belgium with a half French and half Italian father.*
Brian, your Italian family where we're they from? My grandmother was from Bologna, but we don't have any relatives there by now.
So what do you feel is your nationality? British of Scottish blood. But I feel a bit uprooted and deep down I don’t feel at home anywhere. These are the feelings that might have contributed to my loneliness. And when I started Placebo I did it as a way to create a substitute of my family.
Maybe this is also one of the reasons why the band is still together twenty years after it was born. How have you changed during these decades? Specially in a personal level. In any case, we were born as a live band searching for success and we became a creative formation that works on harmony and quality. When we were young we had the arrogance of the 20s today we try to achieve a high quality level in what we do. The motivation is towards constant change.
The last album of Placebo Loud Like Love. Is it like this? It is the most honest that we have written and produced, in fact, it is about feelings of jealousy, obsession, hearts turned in pieces by pain.
In the album there are a couple of songs that deal with quite current problems like Rob The Bank and Too Many Friends song that is about social networks. Specially you who have many fans and some millions of followers on Facebook. Too Many Friends is a song about loneliness. The search for followers on facebook is the equivalent of what in the 80’S was the anxiety of waiting for the phone to ring. In the end it is easier to have virtual relationships instead of real ones, because you don’t have to take risks. As for Rob The Bank it is not about the financial crisis as it is about jealousy.
You're touring for a while but is there already a new song to be included in your next album? The ideas come from time to time. I always travel with an instrument to kill time. And take note of the ideas.
Placebo will play tonight at Rock In Roma (photos, included all the picture sources used here for this interview), a gig based mostly in their last record, their seventh album. Loud Like Love is the first album that was released worldwide through a streaming service, reaching more than 2 and a half million of reproductions in the main platforms from Spotify to Deezer
*those were the exact words of the journalist but we know it's actually the other way around.

Meeting Brian Molko (Placebo) at the Rock Werchter Festival 2014 – Interview with soulmate Ellen VG from Belgium

LLL Placebo European Tour Special 2014 Interview with soulmate Ellen VG from Belgium in collaboration with Placebo Anyway.

Interview by SusanneCk & Diana E.T.Foghin. Organization Mary Scott.

It was an amazing show in Belgium at the Rock Werchter Festival 2014.
And we also enjoyed the nice interview with Brian Molko you can watch here again:

Congrats to the band and Brian for their great job as always. Well done boys!!!
So let us start the interview. Our special guest today is Placebo soulmate Ellen VG from Belgium.

Placebo Anyway: Nice to have you here for this interview!! Before we start with the concert details, we would like to know a little bit more about you... When did you discover the band and why did you become a fan?
Ellen VG: I found out about them in 1997, I used to watch Top of the Pops on BBC1 every Friday back then, but I was a teenager, so I listened to songs from S Club 7, A1 etc. back in those days. I wasn’t impressed with Placebo and up till now I must admit the early songs are still not really my cup of tea. I started liking Placebo when I heard the song “The Bitter End” back in 2003 but it takes more to become like a REAL fan than just one song. So last year I decided I wanted to go to another rock concert and I looked through the list of artists performing in Belgium and I stumbled on Placebo, I called a friend and she came with me. After the concert in Antwerp I was so impressed with the guitars and the drumming. This was amazing! I looked more stuff up on YouTube afterwards and then I slowly became a fan.

Placebo Anyway: What about your cd and merchandising collection? Do you have everything from the official collection and also a special treasure like a limited edition box etc.?
Ellen VG: I’m not into band merch at all, so no t-shirts or anything else. I do own all their cd’s. As I was a teenager in the 90ties, I still want the real cd in my hands. I love it!

Placebo Anyway: Speaking about the gig some of us watch the live stream while dome watched it live. How was it for you?
Ellen VG: Well, I was really excited about it, we left really early and arrived at 10am. I was determined to get front row. When the door opened my friend and I ran like freaks to the main stage, but when we got there we were a little confused. There was this HUUUGE bridge standing in front of the stage. I asked security and they said it was for Metallica. We stayed at the front row for a while, but as soon as other bands started performing we realized we didn’t see anything. I complained to security again and they told me we’re not gonna see anything on the first row so we moved like 10m backwards. I was really gutted. As soon as Placebo started I almost couldn’t see anything either cos it was really crowded and people were constantly pushing. So I must say I didn’t really enjoy it this time but that’s not really the bands fault. I was actually really pissed with Metallica about this “bridge”. My highlight was definitely when Brian got down on his knees in front of Fiona and he played guitar towards her and Fiona played her violin leaning over him. Amazing! Stefan stood jamming on the Metallica bridge for a while, so thank god for that. Also Brian saying “Dankuwel” a couple of times was super cute. At least he knew in which part of Belgium he was! ;-)
Placebo Anyway: How was the crowd at the Rock Werchter Festival? We know Placebo got some bad critics from the press. What do you think about this?
Ellen VG: Haven’t they always got bad critics from the press? Well, the crowd at Rock Werchter seemed to know all the lyrics from the songs! I was pretty impressed about that! But it was so crowded, people were confused about the bridge and all, so I think nobody could like give it ALL and go completely nuts. Too bad.

Placebo Anyway: What about on stage? Some of the critics and even fans say that he is distant from the audience and complain that he doesn't even change the speeches before the songs. For instance the one before One Of Kind was the same he used in 2006 and Moscow. What are your thoughts about it?
Ellen VG: Yeah, I must agree on this one. I miss active Brian. It feels like he doesn’t enjoy the gigs anymore, like he’s just trying to get it over with. And yes, he says the same things before songs, but that doesn’t really bother me. Or maybe he’s just getting old?? :-p I’m really happy about Steve’s energy on stage, though!

Placebo Anyway:  What about the set list/ lighting what is the difference between a festival and a small venue?
Ellen VG: Haha, the lighting? Well, I remember last year in Antwerp it was darker on stage, difficult to take a pic, cos of the lightings they used. Also I’m glad they got rid of this curtain/window, whatever it was. They didn’t change the setlist much, just a couple of songs. But I’m happy to see they put “Begin the End” on the setlist now. I’m gonna see them again in August, so I’m looking forward to enjoy this song live!
Placebo Anyway:  Do you think they could change the songs more often?
Ellen VG: No not at all. Most bands play the same setlists for a while, right? Until they make a new album.

Placebo Anyway:  Do you consider that using the same set list in every show is a good thing or a bad thing?  I'll elaborate a bit on this some people complained that they never change the setlist however, when they included One Of A Kind and specially Begin The End some complained because these songs weren't played in their country. So what do you think is the best option?  Unified every concert to avoid complains or change the songs even though people will always complain?
Ellen VG: I think Placebo should do whatever makes them feel more comfortable on stage and with themselves. And I haven’t heard/seen “Begin the End” played live in front of me either. So I guess I’m just lucky that I get to see them again but I do understand why some people feel gutted.
Placebo Anyway: About the crowd. What's your opinion on flash mobs, banners etc do you think the band won't pay attention to them, don't care or actually appreciate them?
What about more extreme "displays of affection" like throwing bras on stage or ask for autographs in parts of the body?
Ellen VG: I love it! And I saw some videos with the flash mobs and they do pay attention to them. Don’t know if they appreciate it, I think we’ll never know what really goes on in Brian’s head at the moment. The more extreme stuff we can do, the better. It makes it interesting for them but also for us, right?
Placebo Anyway: And about the cameras we all know Brian hates them. But people want their memory last forever in a jpg format or in you tube and claim they can multi task just fine.  Do you think they will ever be an agreement on this matter? or a reconciliation between Molko and his fans?
Ellen VG: I also think it’s a weird sight from a stage when you see all those people holding up a phone. It makes you think you’re playing for smartphones instead of people. But of course people want to take pics. I also heard about a band who asks the crowd to put away their phones during the concert and then they play one song over again so everyone can take pics. Can’t remember which band that was, but maybe that’s a good idea? I would be fine with it!

Placebo Anyway: We know this is not your first Placebo gig. Comparing old gigs with this tour regarding the energy of the show ( since is one of the things that has been critized about the band) do you see any difference?
Ellen VG: Well, I saw them for the 1st time last year. So I don’t notice any difference between this year and last year. I do notice it when I watch gigs on YouTube from before. And it makes me really sad! Wish they’d perform like before, with so much energy and they were really interacting with the crowd!

Placebo Anyway: Do you go the other gig in Belgium or maybe France or Germany?
Ellen VG: No, I didn’t go to Les Ardentes in Belgium cos I had to work. But I bought tickets for Rock’n Heim and Mönchengladbach.

Placebo Anyway: Did you meet someone of Placebo?
Ellen VG: Yes, I met them at the airport!

Placebo Anyway: Wow! You met Placebo, amazing!  This is an honor and you are a really lucky person  Could you tell us a bit about it? How was the experience for you?
Ellen VG: Hahaha, long story, which you can find on my Twitter. To make a long story short. I was really nervous about it and I couldn’t stop shaking when I met Nick. He was the first one I met. I was still very nervous when I noticed Steve but he walked over to me with a HUGE smile, shook my hand and said “Hi, how are you”. He made me feel so comfortable, I talked to him for a couple of minutes. Amazing to have a small talk with one of your idols! And he’s SOOOO sweet! But after meeting him I felt more relaxed, although I knew the bigger problem was approaching…Brian! Hahaha!

Unfortunately Brian and Stefan arrived together and they had a bodyguard with them. I asked my friend to take sneaky pics but their bodyguard noticed it and told her off! Brian was really annoyed, but I still wanted to ask him for an autograph on a photo I printed out. He said to me: “ok, very quickly then, cos I have a plane to catch!”and he signed his face! Erm, yeah, why would you even put your signature on your face???? He was also very arrogant towards my colleague at check-in. Afterwards I also ran over to Stefan for an autograph, he smiled at me and said “of course”. He was actually really friendly and relaxed!
Placebo Anyway: Meeting Brian. There has been a lot of talking among "Placeboers" regarding Brian's behavior towards fans. What can you tell us about it from your experience?
Ellen VG: Apparently not only towards fans. My colleague at check-in felt shocked the entire day about how he treated her! She also told me she can’t understand why I’m a fan of such an arrogant idiot. I guess love is blind, right? I also noticed him arguing with my colleague so that made me even more anxious about going over to him to say hi and ask for an autograph but I did it and yeah, it felt like he didn’t show respect whatsoever and he’s the most important guy at the airport.
Placebo Anyway: People dream about meeting their idol, Brian Molko in this case, but at the same time they are often afraid of not being interesting enough or good enough.  What would you advice someone who would meet any of the members of Placebo.
And after this meeting has something changed inside of you regarding the music, your perception of the band or Brian?
Ellen VG: Yes, and that’s probably what Brian thinks cos he’s more important, right? ;-) Haha. I’d say go for it and talk to him, but keep in mind Brian can be very arrogant and might even break your heart with his behavior. It took me a couple of days to get over it. I couldn’t even watch the livestreams afterwards cos I felt hurt. But lots of celebrities are like this. After all I’m just here for the music and I was totally enchanted by Steve!!!! Regarding Steve, Stefan and Nick, there’s no warning advice, just go for it! Steve’s a GREAT hugger! ;-) The only thing that changed is my opinion about Brian, I will try and annoy him even more now and I can’t take him seriously anymore, after all he didn’t show respect towards me or my colleagues either!
Placebo Anyway: Let us speak about Placebo fans. What do you think about “Soulmates Never Die”. Does it really exist for Placebo fans?
Ellen VG: I don’t know, I think they lost some fans because of Brian’s behavior.

Placebo Anyway: Do you think Placebo fans are criticize the band too much? After all some people have even complained about Molko's clothes on stage.
Ellen VG: Criticism is good, everyone is allowed to speak their mind and we didn’t hand in our ears, eyes and brains when we became a fan, right?

Placebo Anyway: What do the band and their music personally mean to you?
Ellen VG: A way to escape daily stress for a while + their music also inspired me to pick up a guitar. But I don’t play any of their songs, I’m trying to create my own style, which leans more towards Flamenco. ;-)

Placebo Anyway : Which is your favorite? Album and why?
Ellen VG: Battle for the Sun, because it’s like a heavy rock record. ;-)

Placebo Anyway: Do you have a favorite song of the last album and also from the other ones?
Ellen VG: Yes, Begin the End is my favorite. I absolutely adore those guitar riffs! Amazing!
My other favorite songs are Kings of Medicine and Blind.

Placebo Anyway: Define Placebo to someone who never heard about the band.
Ellen VG: Hahaha, people at work actually asked me cos they never heard about them and I said: a rock band with a weird lead singer but with amazing songs.

Placebo Anyway: Define now  Brian, Stefan and Steve in three words dedicated to your Placebo soulmates.
Ellen VG: Inconceivable, quiet & crazy :-D

Placebo Anyway: 20 years to go, 20 years to know. The band's 20th anniversary. What do you expect. For the band for the next 20 years?
Ellen VG: Hopefully they’ll continue and will still be playing at age 70, like the Rolling Stones, cos they are this epic! But I do hope Brian will become more relaxed and less arrogant.

Placebo Anyway: Thank you for the interview. It was a great pleasure doing this interview with you!
Ellen VG: The pleasure is all mine! ;-)

CONCERT REVIEW - LLL Russian Tour Special - Moscow - Subbotnik Festival Gorky Park 2014

CONCERT REVIEW - LLL Russian Tour Special - Moscow - Subbotnik Festival Gorky Park

By Xenia Gerasimova in colaboration with Placebo Anyway
Layout by SusanneCk -

Check also out Xenias Special about Moscow and the festival. Very funny, very intersting!! You will love it!! ;-)

Hello everyone, I have been recently to the Subbotnik Festival in Moscow, to say more pricesly I was there on the 5th of July!
To start with  the weather that day was surprisingly good! It was hot and sunny. Once it was going to rain and the clouds were grey, but that exact day which I had been waiting for so long couldn't be spoiled with any unpleasant things...
I came to the Gorky Park only for Placebo and didn't know any other bands. To say honestly other bands and musicians were quite boring to listen to, except The Uchpochmack and Kassabian.

I have to say I am not a professional reporter, I just want to share with you my impressions, my feelings, my recollections and thoughts.
First of all I may say only one thing - and it won't be surprise for all of you - Placebo's performance was
 A W E S O M E !!!! I can repeat this one million time!
I am HAPPY, DELIGHTED, STILL EXCITED and I don't know what part of speech can express my condition!! HAHA

I was very lucky that magical day... I didn't buy a ticket to the "fan zone", I purchased an "entrance ticket" and fortunely I stood in a very lucky place, I saw the scene quite well.
Despite all the technical problems they had in the beginning I was enjoying whole their performance that lasted for two hours, because those issues were nothing in comparison with the rest of the gig they played absolutely successful!
Of course, at first, other people and I were a little bit sad about this, because we even thought concert could be canceled, but I know that the hope for the best were inside us, and this hope was so strong, that there wouldn't any doubt - everything was going to be fine.
And minutes which "were spent" with Brian (or minutes which Brian spent with us) standing on the stage and cheering up the audience, talking to the audience, with Stefan who said that "it will take five minutes", Steve who was playing the drums while the staff attempted to rectify the situation were just amazing!! They were amazing as they were unplanned!! Unexpected pleasant moments...
The band was very open to people, especially Brian, he obviously had good mood that evening, he was energetic and full of emotions.
And these were really happy moments for many people seeing Brian's beautiful smile or the moment when he was smoking a cigarette.... By the way smoking Brian was shown on the big screen, and brought so much joy and delight women and girls...
Sometimes I sincerely think if Brian can do such things with women just standing on the scene and smoking a cigarette, or just walking through the scene, he eventually could dominate the world...!!
A charming man!
Waiting for Placebo at the park from the beginning of the festival 12:00 until 21:35 when they started the show I didn't regret any hour, any minute or any second that I was there and I don't. I was just waiting for them as many people there, or as others were waiting for Kassabian, or waiting for both favorite bands in particular...

A very interesting thing is there were people of different generations. I tell you about this because I had thought generally there would be teenagers, but I was wrong. People from, I suppose, 14 to, maybe, 50. As I see there are many teenagers who are keen on Placebo in Russia.
All that beautiful day evokes in me only positive emotions, warm and pleasant. And you can see how little one person need to become a bit happier.
What I have noticed being there is that it's very easy to find out Great Placebo's Admirers in the crowd, not all of course, but there have been number of people who are very very distinguishable!! I mean people in T-shirts with the sign "Placebo" or T-shirts with Brian's face, or T-shirts with the name and cover of one of their albums...Also a girl who wore leopard tights!! I saw people just in black - wonderful colour, with red hair or another hair colours, men with long hair. No, of course, I understand that such people could be on other rock concerts, but when you see them you realise they definitely came here for Placebo, even by their behavior.
The other story is flashmob!
Yes, again flashmob and by the way I took a little part in it. I will tell you right now.
So this time they, The Great Moscow Placebo Admirers, had a big Russian flag where "MOSCOW LOVES PLACEBO" was written if you watched the concert you saw it. Also an enormous poster with the sign "PLEASED TO SEE YOU HERE!"
Further more, on the song "Loud Like Love" participants should lift the small posters with the sing "MY DAD LOVES PLACEBO MORE THAN VODKA"...Do you remember Brian's reaction?...''Well it's tough choice, I would prefer a bass guitar right now which we don't have in present''
WOW. WOW.
The next is our favorite song. Beautiful and soulful - "A Million Little Pieces". On this song people, including me, should inflate and lift the balloons to move them to the music. And the last flashmob thing is switching on the lights on the phones to the "Infra Red".
Don't you think guys could become a bit spoiled with so much Loud Like Love dedicated to them in Russia... Haha

About new songs and old songs. I even cannot say what gave much pleasure to people old hits or new songs from LLL album!! Because each song started with shouts, applauses, big smiles on faces and what ever you want. Also at the concert I found out that I know all the songs by heart, it was surprise.

For me this concert was a very special one, the first one! And I am so happy I has been there, I have heard them LIVE, a big difference in comparison with listening to records on the phone, computer or stereo system.
I have become a little deaf at the festival. But that is nothing! It has been worth it, haha.
It was amazing! Amazing! Stunning! The atmosphere overwhelmed me... I cannot forget that day at all! I want to back in time and feel all that again, to hear all that once again - all my favorite songs, music. To see all their performance again. To immerse myself in that magical atmosphere...again.
One more paragraph I want to dedicate the song Too many friends, Too many people...
(I know all the mass medias talk about this song, so I have to pay attention to it too).

First of all, I like the words Brian had said before he started singing it: "The next song is based on a true story but the names have been changed in order to protect the guilty and every single one of you here tonight know exactly who you are" and more I like it when Brian emphasises "YOU PEOPLE do all day..." singing it.
So what I want to say:
Yes, he is right, but (there's always place for 'but' - we always make exclusions) I cannot agree with his opinion on 100% because I don't have "too many friends" on Facebook, Instagram or there is such Russian social network as "Vkontakte". Only the closest and people with whom I really communicate or though know.
I don't push the button each time I have got a friend request to have more and more friends...
Because on my pages I have my personal photos and information, I don't need unknown people.
On the one hand, Internet takes so much time and I have to say people must get rest of the Internet sometimes, because it is pulling you down into as quicksand.
And in reality it seems that such thing as Internet enslave our world in some ways...
So many people I see in the underground, in the streets, in the cafès, everywhere and they stare to the phone. I am no exclusion.
I think we are loosing so much time inside this virtual world.

On the other hand it can be a very useful thing sometimes...
For instance, when I had been going to the festival I had had two possibilities: one - to go there alone and spend the whole day on my own,  and I would do like this if one occasion didn't happen: I am signed on the "Placebo. SVOY Субботник Festival" event so one day I had gone to that page and seen the post where one girl had been looking for a company. I had written her and we went there together, plus one more girl. I am so grateful they kept a company me! They made my day much happier. And I couldn't wish about a better company!
(Though I know, I could, I have two people with whom I want to go to Placebo concert Susanne and Alexandra. I hope to meet them someday)
I know this song is about "feeling so alone...".
One more reason is one person that I have found here on Placebo Anyway page. Occasionally or it's destiny, stars or what you want it to be.
This person is truly wonderful, this person helps me and support me. More than a friend. Soulmate. And for the period I have been keen on Placebo our friendship is becoming stronger and stronger. I hope reading this small paragraph she knows I mean exactly her. And I want to say her BIG THANK YOU for every single thing. Love you!!
Without Internet I wouldn't have known her. We live so far and this virtual world makes us a bit closer to each other geographically, to lessen the distance between us. Haha
So I can say I have some overseas friends here on FB with whom I am really really glad to communicate and glad I have made friends with them.
The last words I want to dedicate to a light show! It's a very important thing for every concert. I think Placebo's light  show is great! Because it strengthens all that energy, extreme power that goes from them for thousand listeners!
The stupefying and exciting force supported with the amazing light show!!
When the show was over, I couldn't believe it... The band came downstairs to bow, they become a little closer to the audience and this was wonderful! The magic evening came to its end. They said Good Bye. And Steve gave the crowd his drumsticks.
A crazy happy day.
Now, writing this so-called review I feel sad, but more is never enough...
So I am looking forward to new concerts!
It was wonderful, lightning and swift... I was shocked, remembered nothing, intoxited with happiness and still am.
Thank you everyone for reading me and thank you Placebo Anyway!!

A Mexican girl in Russia.  – LLL Russian Tour Special 2014

Placebo Anyway in colaboration with Alexandra Ugalde from Mexico.
Interview by SusanneCk – Helping hand Diana E.T. Foghin

You already know her from the LLL Tour Special about Mexico, we are speaking about Alexandra Ugalde.
Placebo old school fan, having been almost to all mexican concerts and a long list of emotions she shared with us in this interview.

Our Mexican soulmate went recently to Russia, to figure out by herself what Placebo could possibly love so much about this amazing country.

Placebo Anyway: Was this your first visit to Russia or have you been there before?
Alexandra Ugalde: This was my 1st visit to Russia.

Placebo Anyway:  Besides discovering what attracts Placebo so much about Russia, which was your main reason to go there?
Alexandra Ugalde: Well, the 1st time that I studied Russian was in 2010, so in that year, to visit Russia was a goal, but now, my principal reason was to visit some special Russian friends

Placebo Anyway: So you’re learning Russian. Wow. All my respects!! I heard it’s very difficult?
Alexandra Ugalde: Oh yes, I’ve to admit that it’s difficult for me (and latins) to pronounce “ы” and sometimes I don’t know when an “o” sounds like an “a”, but I really love this language.
Placebo Anyway: Good luck with the studies!!  Let us speak now about your visit to Russia. Tell us, which places did you visit?
Alexandra Ugalde: I visit only two cities: Moscow and Saint Petersburg
Placebo Anyway: Wonderful. Let us start with the arrangements.  What do you think is very important if you want to go to Russia?
Alexandra Ugalde: Well, if you are Mexican like me, you need passport and visa, but if you are from the rest of Latin-America or other countries, you don’t need visa, only passport. I chose a flight from Cancun to Moscow with Transaero Airlines.
I packed my luggage the night before my flight! I was so nervous, the clothes I chose were dresses, skirts, t-shirts, etc, because Moscow is hot in summer, although St. Petersburg climate changes a lot, one day is hot and then it  rains.
I think that if you want to go to Russia and you don’t speak any word in Russian, is much better to pay
a guided tour, when I was at the airport no one spoke English.

Placebo Anyway: Which places did you visit?
Alexandra Ugalde: In Moscow:  Kremlin, Red Square, Gorky Park, metro, GUM,  Hermitage Garden, and  many walks in streets and parks.
In St Petersburg, Peter and Paul  Fortress, Cruiser Aurora, Neva River, Winter Palace, Saint Isaac’s Cathedral,  Nevsky Prospect and more.

Placebo Anyway: What are your best memories about Moscow? Which places have you seen and what would you recommend to see and do to everyone who visit these cities?
Alexandra Ugalde: My best memories are with my friend, every single moment with him was amazing , and I can’t say only one or a few, my entire trip was beautiful.
My recommendation is, if you are planning to go, search for tours in advance from home to have tickets to many places, because some places are not open daily and open only for a few hours.

Placebo Anyway: Tell us about St. Petersburg. What was special for you there? What are the differences between both cities?
Alexandra Ugalde: St. Petersburg’s architecture is older, was the capital many years ago, I think it looks  more like Holland, is totally different from Moscow, to me both are so beautiful, Moscow is a circle and is like 3 cities in one, the center is historical, then is a mix of Perestroika and modern and in the end of the circle is very modern
Placebo Anyway: Every journey, every holiday ha its surprise. What was the biggest surprise for you being in Russia?
Alexandra Ugalde: Russians are the best hosts, when you are at their house as a friend,  they treat you so very well, warm and beautiful. Russians don’t smile a lot, but if they smiles at you, is because they like you , they have honest smiles.
Summer nights in Petersburg,  sky
never darkens,  it’s called white nights because sun never sets.

Placebo Anyway: Russian food!! Very tasty as I heard!! Which typical Russian dishes did you try?
Alexandra Ugalde: I ate шашлык ( shashlik) of lamb, it's like a skewered BBQ, ; окрошка (okroshka) cold sup, has a strong taste, I liked it; самогон (samagon) is like vodka or even more hard liquor, obviously vodka, and квас (kvas) is fermented drink from bread, I loved it.
Placebo Anyway: Could you choose your favorite one for us?
Alexandra Ugalde: Probably Shashlik, vodka and over all I love red caviar!!

Placebo Anyway: A bit far from Moscow and St. Petersburg, but have you been to any Placebo concert?
Alexandra Ugalde: No, I wasn’t.

Placebo Anyway: Oh, I’m sorry, and why didn’t you went finally to the gigs?
Alexandra Ugalde:  Well…  my idea was to stay  at least two weeks, but I had a little problem… I forgot that my Passport expired, so I had to make an appointment to renew it and it took me 1 more month  ! and obviously less days of my vacations…

Placebo Anyway: What a pity! Did you meet any Placebo fans in Russia?
Alexandra Ugalde: No, I didn’t have time, and it’s a shame, I really wanted to.

Placebo Anyway: What do you think about Placebo's proximity to the fans and open trade? What do you think is the reason they didn’t do the same in Southamerica?
Alexandra Ugalde: I'm not sure, but it's fair, Placebo spent time in Latin America and also included moments before in videos, including other countries, it's time to coddle more fans.

Placebo Anyway: Have you seen the LLL Russian Tour teaser? Do you like it? We think it looks great!!!
Alexandra Ugalde: Yes, I love it, seems very intimate, friendly, and makes me dream.

Placebo Anyway: Do you go back to Russia and do you want to see Placebo there one day or in another country around the world? Which one would you choose if you could?
Alexandra Ugalde: I wish I could see them in Russia, in fact, my new dream-goal is to live there, although, if I'm there, I could  see them in other countries too.

Placebo Anyway: Thank you again for your collaboration dear Alexandra. Good luck with everything and now in Russian: Спасибо большое, Люблю тебя.
Alexandra Ugalde: Спасибо большое, мои милые друзьяit’s an honor to me to collaborate again.
